Paul Algarin , one of the inmates rescued from a life sentence for a nonviolent offense is off to a great start. Since being released from prison, he’s been bombarded with job offers, according to a TMZ report. The gigs range from modeling to tattoo work, with offers coming from as far as Nigeria and the UK,  Algarin told TMZ. After his release, his sister posted up this photo with Kim, Kanye and her brother to thank her for not only releasing the young man but for helping to repair their relationship. Harvey Weinstein Reportedly Settling Sexual Misconduct Cases With Accusers For $44 Million

Source: Pacific Press / Getty Harvey Weinstein Reportedly Reached $44 Million Deal to Settle Lawsuits According to The New York Times , Harvey Weinstein and his former studio’s board members have reached a tentative $44 million deal to resolve lawsuits filed by women who accused him of sexual misconduct. The $44 million settlement would include $30 million for the accusers, creditors, and former employees of the studio, as well as an additional $14 million in legal fees. The settlement is claimed to be supported by all parties and will be reviewed for approval in a hearing on June 4. He is currently facing criminal charges in New York for allegations of sexual violence against two women in addition to more than 80 women that have accused him of wrongdoing, and many of those complaints involve sexual harassment, which is a civil violation, not a criminal one. Weinstein still faces criminal charges, and those cases will move forward. He has pleaded not guilty to rape and other sex crimes in a criminal case in Manhattan. The case is scheduled to go to trial in September.

Early this morning, rapper and activist @Tef_Poe posted a video of a young black man escaping police arrest and doing the Jesse Owens on a couple of cops who weren’t paying attention. That video was reposted by Marc Lamont Hill with a caption that triggered a great many people. Check it out below. View this post on Instagram Legends are born every day. Be inspired. (NOTE: This post has sparked a lot of conversation. Some are celebrating this man’s escape. Others are saying it’s irresponsible to run from police, as they could have shot him in the back. This discourse is fascinating, as it prompts a series of questions for me: How do you resist unjust laws? Why do we accept and normalize the entirely illegal act of shooting as suspect as they run away? How do we create strategies of resistance that allow our children to still survive and come home? What is it about this video that makes so many folk want to cheer this young man on?)
