Put On Blast: Rev. William Barber Masterfully Marinates Unseasoned Governor Bill Lee For Invoking MLK Jr. [Video]

Source: Earl Gibson III / Getty Rev. William Barber Puts Gov. Bill Lee On The Spot Over MLK Jr. Quote Each year on MLK day dusty buckets of expired imitation crab meat open their lie holes to spew quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. as if they actually know anything about the man outside of “non-violent”. This year, one such pachydermal politician, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, got chin checked from the pulpit for quoting Dr. King while voting issues that are completely counter to what the civil rights leader believed in. The good folks who work for MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes put together this lil’ montage of the epic dragging. The ancestors would be proud. At :49 the good Reverend starts to shake his head because he knows where this is going and he knows what he’ll have to do in response. Glory be to God. That was beautiful.

Pale Politics: This Week’s Best Clapbacks To Ignant White People

Read the original:

Source: Splash / Splash News The oppressive, cruel, and occasionally demonic attributes of Whiteness came out in full-force this week thanks to well…White people. The most viral moment involved an indigenous elder, Nathan Phillips , who had to stand inches away from the moist MAGA breath of a bratty teen. According to Today , Phillips was on the grounds of the Lincoln Memorial for the Indigenous People’s March. Meanwhile, the March For Life anti-abortion rally was going on around the same time, and it was full of MAGA hat teens from the Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky. Nick Sandmann was the teen who confronted Phillips face-to-face in the now viral video. According to him, some Black Hebrew Israelites were taunting him and his classmates before the confrontation with Phillips took place. The high school students tried to drown out the Hebrew Israelites with school chants, but naturally that didn’t ease tensions. So according to CNN , Phillips stood between the students and the Hebrew Israelites, banging his drum and singing a Native American protest song. According to Phillips, this is when Sandmann stepped in his face and wouldn’t let him move. Phillips says Sandmann’s classmates proceeded to mock his song, and he even said he heard teens yelling “build that wall.” You can watch the video for yourself below.   The incident was, once again, another symbol of White oppression. It wasn’t just Phillips against Sandmann, it was a small indigenous group against a crowd of young White MAGA supporters. White teens seized the opportunity to take up space on land that was acquired with the onslaught of indigenous people. The Make America Great Again hats were the cherry on top for how White people can flaunt their dominance even if they’re not consciously doing so. Thus, Phillip’s only form of defense and integrity in the moment was to continue banging his drum and singing his protest song. A subtle clapback, yet powerful one. Hit the next pages to peep some more noteworthy (and hilarious) clapbacks to the ignant White folks.

Nicholas Sandmann: Smirking Student MAGAly ‘Explains’ Nathan Phillips Incident On ‘The Today Show’ [Video]

Source: David Cliff/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images / Getty SMH… Nicholas Sandmann Speaks On Nathan Phillips Incident The student seen smirking in that disturbing video of MAGA aligned children surrounding a Native American elder is speaking out, again. Nicholas Sandmann who previously tried to paint himself as a peacemaker to NBC News and said he stood still simply to “diffuse the situation” sucked up some airtime on “The Today Show” Wednesday. Sandmann sat down with Savannah Guthrie and refuted claims that he’s an unangelic, ignorant, entitled, bra and instead he says he and his Cheeto approved friends were just minding their business when they became victims. He also denied that he was smirking—-even though we all have working eyes and can clearly see his smug facial expression. “People judged me based off one expression, which I wasn’t smirking,” Sandmann said to “Today. And they’ve gone from there to titling me and labeling me as a racist person.” “As far as standing there, I had every right to do so. I don’t – I – my position is that I was not disrespectful to Mr. Phillips,” Sandmann added. “I respect him. I’d like to talk to him. I mean – in hindsight I wish we could have walked away and avoided the whole thing.”   In case you didn’t know, Nick’s been coached by RunSwitch, a PR firm run by a former adviser to Mitch McConnell and a current adviser to a Mitch McConnell super PAC. Nathan Phillips will be on The Today show tomorrow to tell the real side his side of the story. Tomorrow on TODAY: We sit down with Nathan Phillips for his reaction to Nick Sandmann’s interview. pic.twitter.com/5QjdqX35OC — TODAY (@TODAYshow) January 23, 2019 That Nicholas Sandmann, he’s no angel.
