According to WAVY: A Virginia Beach sixth grader who came to the aide of a classmate who was cutting his arm will now return to school Friday after initially facing expulsion for her actions. Last Thursday at Bayside Middle School, Adrionna Harris took a razor from the student, threw it away and convinced him what he was doing wasn’t right. She thought she was doing the right thing, so on Friday she told the school administration what happened. The way school officials responded led to this question: was the school’s zero tolerance policy taken too far? Instead of getting praise from the school administration, Adrionna got a 10 day suspension with recommendation for expulsion. The interesting thing — the only reason Adrionna got suspended was because she admitted what happened. The alleged weapon was thrown away, and it was her word alone that led to her suspension. “I was shocked and surprised. I was very shocked that a student would get suspended for saving another child,” said Rachael Harris, Adrionna’s mother. “The school system over-reached absolutely.” Virginia Beach City Public Schools has been pummeled in social media for suspending Adrionna in the first place. During the meeting, Mr. Harris said it was clear the school system is tired of the negative reaction against them because of what people perceive as unfair treatment of Adrionna. “They definitely want it to be over with. Cold world Pernell Whitaker Says Evicting 73 Year Old Mother Was “Beautiful” Via ABCNews Former welterweight boxing champ Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker’s latest battle was a court fight to evict his mother from her house and he described his court victory as a “beautiful moment.” Once a celebrated millionaire boxer and 1985 Olympic gold medalist, Whitaker is now struggling to pay his bills and needed to sell the house which he gave to his mother nearly 30 years ago, according to his lawyer. His fall from grace and solvency involved numerous incidences of drug abuse and a history of arrests and run-ins with police. But Whitaker’s final falling out with his family came to an ugly end in a Virginia court on Wednesday. The court ruled that Whitaker’s 73-year-old mother, Novella Whitaker, had to vacate the house by March 31. Whitaker had been going head to head against the matriarch of his seven-child family since last fall when he began eviction proceedings after unsuccessfully trying to convince his mother to move, his lawyer, Bruce Gould told ABC News. “It’s sad for him to have to take action against his mother, but none of the family would contribute to the real estate and he had no alternative but to use the court process,” Gould said. Rand Paul, R-Ky., is joining with a conservative group and Virginia’s former attorney general to sue President Obama and other top administration officials. They allege that the administration is violating the Fourth Amendment by collecting Americans’ phone metadata and are seeking a ruling that would halt the program and purge all previously collected data from government databases. “There’s a huge and growing swell of protest in this country of people who are outraged that their records would be taken without suspicion, without a judge’s warrant and without individualization,” Paul said at a press conference after filing the lawsuit in Washington, D.C. He predicted it would be a “historic lawsuit” that goes all the way to the Supreme Court. In addition to Paul, the lawsuit is being brought by Matt Kibbe, the president of the tea party-aligned group FreedomWorks, and the lead counsel is former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who lost the state’s gubernatorial election to Democrat Terry McAuliffe in November. It names Mr. Obama, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, National Security Agency (NSA) Director Keith Alexander and FBI Director James Comey as the defendents. In a statement before filing the suit, Paul said the president has “publicly refused to stop a clear and continuing violation of the 4th Amendment.” It’s sad this guy honestly thinks he will win this fugazi lawsuit.

After receiving an anonymous tip of nude photos posted on a Twitter account, the James City County Police Department in Virginia has charged a 16 year old girl with one count of distributing child pornography… for pictures she took of herself. The nude selfies were shared on Twitter as well as sent to some boys. Police say the lewdness of the photos crossed the line from sexting to child pornography. The teen and her mother could be forced to complete a Sexting Education class as well as facing jail time. Anyone who has the photos and shares them with friends could potentially be charged with distribution of child pornography. The girl’s phone was confiscated as part of the investigation, which might be the only part of this story that doesn’t leave me shaking my head. Should there be a plus-size Barbie ? That was a hotly debated question posed on Facebook last month – and now Jewel Moore is hoping to stir up more online chatter. The teenager from Farmville, Virginia has created a petition at Change.org that is titled “Make Plus-Size Princesses in Disney Movies!” What was this young woman’s motivation? “I made this petition because I’m a plus-size young woman, and I know many plus-size girls and women who struggle with confidence and need a positive plus-size character in the media,” she writes on the pag, adding: “Studies show that a child’s confidence correlates greatly with how much representation they have in the media. It’s extremely difficult to find a positive representation of plus-size females in the media.” That’s for sure. Especially when the media considers this to be an example of plus-size . Over 11,000 people have signed the petition, which Moore wraps up with hope for a more realistic image for to which countless young girls – who don’t feel they fit the Disney princess standard – can aspire. “It would be revolutionary for Disney to show support to a group of girls who are otherwise horrendously bullied by the media. So sad. Siblings Suffocate After Locking Themselves In Trunk Their death could have been prevented with proper supervision. According to Boston Globe: Dawn Powers carried a bouquet of flowers in her hands today when she walked up to the Chestnut Street home where two young siblings died Sunday when they locked themselves inside a hope chest. Powers said her daughter was a frequent playmate of 8-year-old Lexi Munroe, who was killed, along with her brother, Sean, 7, in what authorities believe was a stunning, tragic accident. “Two of the nicest kids,’’ said Powers, who said she was emotionally drained by the sudden loss of two children from her neighborhood. “It’s just devastating.’’ Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said the children were found inside a chest made by Lane Furniture of Virginia and that the chest was in a child’s bedroom in the split-entry home. “It has some type of locking mechanism that did not have the ability to be unlocked from the inside,’’ said Morrissey, adding the family were not the original buyers of the chest. “It was bought used.’’ Lane Furniture recalled 12 million chests in 1996 with lids that automatically latched shut when closed. According to NY Daily News reports: A Virginia Beach man is asking for donations to the legal defense of his wife — who allegedly tried to kill their two kids. Jeff Aiken, 25, insists prescription drugs are to blame for his wife Lorita’s shocking breakdown that made her allegedly feed her kids cake and ice cream covered in prescription drugs. “It wasn’t her,” Aiken told the Virginian-Pilot. “I am 100 percent certain that without all those drugs in her system, it wouldn’t have happened. I just want to get her the help she needs, and I know she won’t get that sitting in jail.” The nightmare began Nov. 22 when he returned home at 4 a.m. from a double-shift at a Virginia Beach restaurant. A chilling message on his computer’s screen saver awaited him: “You will never hurt me or my children again,” it read, according to Aiken, who detailed the horrifying night to the Virginian-Pilot Tuesday. In the kitchen he saw open prescription bottles and white powder from crushed pills. As he rushed upstairs each step had a piece of paper bearing the same awful note: “You will never hurt me or my children again.” In his bedroom his worst fears were realized: His 5-year-old son, 4-year-old daughter and Lorita all lay unconscious beside cake and ice cream covered in crushed pills. The three survived. Lorita is being held without bond on two charges of attempted murder and altering food and drink, the Virginian-Pilot reported. And now Jeff Aiken is trying to raise money for his wife’s upcoming trial, saying that she had become addicted to painkillers, anti-depressants and sleeping pills. At least he’s loyal right? Random ricdiculousness… Virginia Cemetery Dug Up And Replaced With Football Field Residents in one Virginia community are rightfully outraged as a local high school is reportedly moving forward with plans to dig up a cemetery to make way for a new football field. via Fox News A northern Virginia school district has been criticized for following through with plans to turn an unruly swath of land identified as a gravesite into a high school football field. “It’s not even the high school,” Carolyn Lynn, a genealogist from Manassas, Va., told The Washington Post. “And that kind of adds insult to injury.” At the beginning of the school year, Prince William County high schools announced it would move the cemetery, which they just learned about over the summer, the report said. The report said contractors at the location found evidence of the cemetery in 2008, but for “unknown reasons” did not alert anyone in the school system for years. Some of the graves date back to the 1860s. “It’s very upsetting. These were people who lived there, farmed there, had children….that expected to be there forever.” – Carolyn Lynn, a genealogist from Manassas Philip B. Kavits, a school spokesman, told the paper that the school division cannot afford to go through a redesign. Work at the cemetery had already started when researchers traced the land to a farm occupied by William Lynn and his wife in the mid-1800s. The graves likely belong to the family. Lynn, the genealogist, believes she is related to the cemetery’s occupants, the report said. The report said despite complaints, the dig at the site was completed five days later. Workers reportedly found 11 graves and decayed bones and other artifacts. How in the world was this even able to take place? This just sounds outrageous…
