Binge drinking is usually seen as a problem of college campuses, but many older adults may be overindulging in alcohol as well, a study published Monday suggests. Using data from a government survey of nearly 11,000 Americans age 50 and up, researchers found that 23 percent of men between the ages of 50 and 64 admitted to binge drinking in the past month, as did roughly 9 percent of women. Among adults age 65 and older, more than 14 percent of men and 3 percent of women reported bingeing — defined as having five or more drinks on one occasion, on at least one day in the past month.

When pro quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty to bankrolling a dogfighting operation in 2007, there was a spike in reports of dogfighting in the United States. But when the headlines faded, the blood sport grew stronger and went even more underground, with thugs taking inventive precautions to keep police at bay, animal cruelty experts say. “They know it's just not smart to have large crowds anymore, so we've seen fights where you've got the two handlers, a referee and Web cams everywhere broadcasting the fight on the Internet,” said Mark Kumpf, an investigator based in Ohio who directs the National Animal Control Association.

Shaun Lanard Gayle (born March 8, 1962 in Newport News, Virginia) is a former American football cornerback/safety in the NFL. He played twelve seasons, eleven for the Chicago Bears (1984-1994), and one for the San Diego Chargers (1995). He was a member of the Bears squad that won Super Bowl XX in 1985. He was also a member of the “Shuffling Crew” in the video The Super Bowl Shuffle.Gayle attended Ohio State University.
Gayle owns the distinction of returning the shortest punt for a touchdown in NFL history, when he returned a punt five yards for a touchdown against the New York Giants in the Bears 1985 divisional playoff victory. He is now appearing at the Chicago Bears Fan Convention. He currently works as a guest NFL analyst for Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.
Gayle was in a relationship with Rhoni Reuter, originally of Potosi, Wisconsin. On October 4, 2007, Reuter – who was approximately seven months pregnant with Gayle’s child – was shot and killed at home, along with her unborn daughter.
On March 3, 2009, a Chicago woman, Marni Yang, 41, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of Rhoni Reuter at Reuter’s Deerfield condominium on Oct. 4, 2007. It is alleged that Yang was wearing a disguise when she shot and killed Reuter in a jealous rage.
The Deerfield police previously stated that they did not consider Gayle to be a suspect in the murder. They had sought a male teenager who was seen running from the area. Gayle had in the past complained that a former girlfriend of his had harassed Reuter and others, and had sought a restraining order against this woman. On October 4, before hearing of Reuter’s death Gayle’s attorney had filed a new complaint against this woman, claiming that the woman had violated the order.
