‘Glee’ Cast ‘Not Surprised’ By Lindsay Lohan Cameo Drama

‘I mean, you never really know what’s true and what’s not,’ Lea Michele tells MTV News about Lohan’s appearance on the show. By Jocelyn Vena Lindsay Lohan on “Glee” Photo: Adam Rose/ FOX On Tuesday night, the long-hyped Lindsay Lohan episode of “Glee” hit the airwaves. Although her appearance was short, it was also full of sweet, self-deprecating humor. The actress, playing herself, was able to make cracks about her contentious public image. Joking on the show that she’s “in full ‘image re-branding mode’ here, people,” Lohan appeared as a judge at Nationals choir competition in Chicago, where the Gleeks of the New Directions were performing for all the glory. Lohan’s glory may have lasted only two minutes and 46 seconds, but she packed some punches, even taking a shot at “The Voice,” which has been going head-to-head with “Glee” network Fox’s own “American Idol” this season. “I show up here and there isn’t even a red button I can push and a chair that can spin me around, where I can then point at a kid onstage and say, ‘I want to work with you’? I’m seriously firing my manager.” Leading up to her cameo, there had been lots of chatter that LaLohan may not have been all that professional about the gig. After being cast on the show in March , rumors began to spread weeks later that the actress was late to set because she had been hitting the party scene right before she had to shoot. While co-star Perez Hilton (who also played a judge on the episode) skirted around the issue when MTV News caught up with him, the show’s stars Lea Michele and Chris Colfer seemed unaware of the controversy. Colfer shared that he was “not surprised, unfortunately” to hear that people had been spreading rumors about her, with his pal Michele adding that everything seemed kosher when she was on set. “I mean, you never really know what’s true and what’s not,” she explained to MTV News at the Fox upfront in New York City this week. “From what we know, she did her stuff and we were busy shooting ours.” Regardless of what really happened when Lohan appeared on the show, perhaps this line stands as her finest statement about her relationship with the public: “Is there anything better than someone making a comeback?” The show’s third season finale, “Goodbye,” airs May 22. Season four will kick off this fall with a spankin’-new Britney Spears tribute episode , as well as cameos by Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker . What did you think of Lindsay’s cameo on “Glee”? ‘Battleship’ Vs. ‘What To Expect’: Brooklyn Decker’s Double Feature

With model-turned-actress in two movies opening the same day, we look back at (and forward to) other stars’ box-office twofers. By Amy Wilkinson Brooklyn Decker in “Battleship” Photo: Universal Pictures If you have a thing for busty blondes, we suggest you pencil a double feature into your weekend plans, seeing as model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker stars in not one, but two movies opening Friday: the blow-’em-up action flick ” Battleship ” and the pregnancy rom-com ” What to Expect When You’re Expecting .” In the Decker vs. Decker showdown, box-office analysts seem to agree that “Battleship” will sink “What to Expect,” though it’s unlikely either will unseat reigning superheroes of the cinema, “The Avengers,” who are eyeing their third first-place weekend. Nonetheless, having two films open on a single day is a neat distinction for the 25-year-old actress, though one that’s not as rare as you might think. Here are a cluster of stars who have pulled theatrical double-duty (or are set to): James Franco Nowadays, you can’t shake a stick at pop culture without James Franco fetching it, but back in the early aughts — following the cancellation of the beloved “Freaks and Geeks” — Franco wasn’t nearly so ubiquitous. Yet he still managed to star in two films opening May 3, 2002: “Spider-Man” and “Deuces Wild.” We probably don’t need to tell you which one snagged all the dollars at the box office that weekend. Christian Kane Big-name stars aren’t the only ones holding a pair. You may recognize Christian Kane from the TNT heist series “Leverage,” or you may know him from a duo of 2004 film roles. On October 8 of that year, he appeared in the film version of “Friday Night Lights” and the Queen Latifah/ Jimmy Fallon comedy “Taxi.” Dakota Fanning No one saw Dakota Fanning in two films opening February 6, 2009, technically speaking, but that’s only because one was animated. The pint-size actress flexed her supernatural skills in the action flick “Push,” while letting her vocals do all the work as the titular heroine of “Coraline.” David Koechner Another actor dabbling in both animation and live-action on a single release date is David Koechner. The “Anchorman” actor hit the pit crew in Will Ferrell’s “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and channeled his inner-animal as the voice of a coyote in the animated “Barnyard,” all on August 4, 2006. Samuel L. Jackson The most recent two-for-one special comes courtesy of the prolific Samuel L. Jackson, whose “Avengers” continues to hammer the competition. But did you know his crime drama “Meeting Evil” (based on the novel by Thomas Berger) also opened May 4? Yeah, we didn’t think so. Channing Tatum Maybe it’s a sign of the apocalypse (or, at the very least, a trend) that four actors had or will have two movies opening on the same day in 2012. Like Decker, Tatum is hitting nearly every demographic with his titillating twofer. On June 29, the 32-year-old will suit up as Duke for “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and strip down as an exotic dancer for “Magic Mike.” Leonardo DiCaprio Leonardo DiCaprio’s Christmas present to America this year is himself. Twice over. The actor stars in two films opening December 25: “The Great Gatsby” and “Django Unchained.” Which one will egg-nog-fueled audiences choose to unwrap? Only Santa knows for sure. Rihanna Calls Acting ‘A Challenge’ — But ‘I Like That’

‘Acting was a whole different world,’ the singer-turned-actress tells MTV News, comparing ‘Battleship’ to her music videos. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rihanna in “Battleship” Photo: Universal Pictures Given Rihanna ‘s illustrious and commanding presence in all her music videos , it seems as though the Caribbean-born superstar’s experience performing in various clips would be the perfect training ground for her eventual transition into full-fledged acting. When MTV News sat down with Rihanna recently to discuss her acting debut in “Battleship,” we asked if her work in music videos helped prepare her for her role in the film. “Training ground? Maybe not, it wasn’t exactly that,” Rihanna said. “For me, acting was a whole different world. We make mini-movies with music videos, but there’s always a song track that’s playing, you don’t have to speak, so [with acting] you have to tell that emotion with the tone of your voice, and I have an accent, so I had to change it to a bit of an American accent for this movie, so that was different,” she explained. So might we see more of Rihanna’s acting skills in future films? We asked the “Where Have U Been” singer if having her first film under her belt has given her the confidence to go out and conquer more movie roles. “It will always be brand-new, because it’s a whole different project every time, it’s a whole new person,” she said. “There’s nothing you can have under your belt with acting, not in my opinion, because I’m not a natural. This isn’t my first [career choice], so I don’t know. I think it’s always going to be a challenge for me, but I like that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Battleship.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Kristen Stewart Amused By ‘Snow White’ Co-Star Charlize Theron

‘I love the effect she has on people,’ KStew tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Charlize Theron in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal Despite their obvious differences both onscreen and off, Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron have formed a bond during the filming of “Snow White and the Huntsman” and even more so during the current press tour in support of the film. When MTV News caught up with Stewart recently, we asked her to compare the familiar scenario of doing interviews with her longtime “Twilight” co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner versus her new castmate, the lovely Ms. Theron. “When Rob, Taylor and I do interviews together, they usually don’t actually ask us anything. We just get to hang out and people like to watch that,” Stewart said with a laugh. “It’s fine, because I like hanging out with those guys, but it is weird. With Charlize, it’s been great, because we’re so proud of the movie and we actually only worked together for three days, so we got to know each other probably more or at least on a certain level during press, and it’s been nice. It’s been fun.” Stewart said she especially admires Theron’s ability to light up a room with her energy and humor. “Some people intimidate you. Some people’s energy is so big you feel like you don’t fit in the room, but with her, I really appreciate how different we are. I love the effect she has on people,” Stewart said. “I find it hilarious. I love watching it happen. I do not have that. Maybe I have something else, but it’s definitely not as visceral. Also, she’s really hilarious,” she added, noting that the Oscar winner uses the more colorful swear words with particular aplomb. “[She] puts me to shame, to be honest,” Stewart said. Maria Menounos Eliminated From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Despite Perfect Score

Remaining three celebrities — William Levy, Katherine Jenkins and Donald Driver — will continue competing for mirror ball trophy next week. By Kelley L. Carter Maria Menounos and Derek Hough on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC The truth is, anyone’s name could have been called to head home from ABC’s hit show “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday night and it would have been a shock. On Monday night, most of the contestants scored well with the judges. Although opera singer Katherine Jenkins has been a top performer on the show all season, she made a few missteps in one of her Monday night performances — and subsequently beat herself up about it. So folks may not have been too surprised to hear her name called as this week’s eliminated dancer. Instead, it was one of the night’s top scorers who got the boot. It ultimately came down to TV journalist Maria Menounos and her partner Derek Hough and NFL star Donald Driver and his partner Peta Murgatroyd. Menounos was the one to go, despite having a near-perfect score on Monday night. The judges salivated over the Argentine tango she performed as her first dance, rewarding her with perfect 10s all around. For her second performance, she took on the jive, and the judges actually named her the winner of the night — and possibly the competition itself. When her name was called Tuesday night, Menounos said, “I learned so many things — how strong I was, to persevere … I want to thank everyone here. I want to thank Derek and my family and everyone who voted for us.” Next week, the remaining three celebrities — Latin heartthrob William Levy and his partner Cheryl Burke, Driver and Murgatroyd, and Jenkins and Mark Ballas will compete for the mirror ball trophy.

Jennifer Lopez Hints She May Not Return To ‘American Idol’

‘I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things,’ Lopez says about her ‘Idol’ gig. By Gil Kaufman Jennifer Lopez Photo: MTV News Negotiating tactic or real threat? That’s what eagle-eyed “American Idol” fans were probably wondering on Tuesday after Jennifer Lopez hinted that she might not be back for a third season. Appearing with co-star Cameron Diaz on “Ellen,” to promote her upcoming movie, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” Lopez said she’s had a blast during two seasons on “Idol,” but her time may be up. “I really do enjoy it,” she said after telling DeGeneres she wasn’t sure what her future on “Idol” might be. “Now this is my second year — I don’t know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being three, but now they’re getting more mobile, they’re about to go into school … So I just don’t know.” Lopez joined the show in 2010 for season 10 along with Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and reportedly makes $12 million a season. And while that’s $2 million more than Christina Aguilera makes on “The Voice,” it is at least $3 million less than new “X Factor” judge Britney Spears will reportedly earn when she makes her debut in the fall. While appearing on “Access Hollywood” on Monday night, Lopez offered some advice to Spears and the other new “Factor” judge, Demi Lovato
. “I was like, ‘Live TV! Eek.’ It’s a big thing to take on, but I think they’re both more than capable to handle it,” Lopez said just hours after Spears and Lovato made it official. “Working with the singers and doing your thing and knowing what you’re talking about from experience, and they both have that,” she said of translating her music business expertise into judging advice. And, after a season in which some critics have said she and Tyler have been exceedingly easy on “Idol” contestants, Lopez also counseled that it’s perfectly okay to root for the good guy. “You don’t have to be tough,” she said. “There’s not one way to do that, reality TV, and those competition shows [are] about being yourself. It’s about being your best self, and I think that’s the most important thing.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.
