“We Be Burnin’” Reggae Artist Sean Paul Trades Smoking MaryJane For Sipping “Green” Tea SEAN PAUL has released hit singles called We Be Burnin’, Gimme The Light and Ever Blazin’ – yet there are few references to smoking tweeds on his new album, Tomahawk Technique. Laughing down the phone to The Sun, he explains why: “I’ve found a different method to, how shall I say, consume. I make tea with it every day now.” The Jamaican star continues: “I don’t smoke any more. After 15, 16 years of smoking every day it was bad for my voice. I was having trouble breathing, man. “Giving up has opened my chest out and made me able to sing better. “I haven’t smoked for two years now. I have a cup of tea every mornin’ and I’m good for the day.” Sounds like our cup of tea! Sean Paul put us on with some brewing tips please! Source WENN More On Bossip! Romney beat Rick Santorum by double digits in Tuesday’s primary. By Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney at his Illinois primary night party Photo: AFP Mitt Romney strung together two solid victories in a row on Tuesday night when he pulled off a decisive win in the Illinois presidential primary, the latest in a series of “must-win” contests in the GOP race to the White House. The former Massachusetts Governor is likely to pull in at least 41 of the 54 delegates at stake following his win over rival Rick Santorum, who he beat by a 47 to 35 percent margin. The other two candidates in the race, Texas congressman Ron Paul and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich hardly campaigned in the state and came in a distant third and fourth, with, respectively, 9 and 8 percent of the vote. “We thank the people of Illinois for this extraordinary victory,” Romney said to supporters gathered in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, according to CNN. “Elections are about choices. Today, hundreds of thousands of people in Illinois joined millions of people in this country in this cause.” If he gets 41 delegates, Romney’s total to date is 562, which puts him halfway toward the goal of 1,144 needed to clinch the GOP nomination. Once again, he turned his attention away from his fellow candidates an onto President Obama in his victory speech, saying, “It’s time to say this word: enough. We’ve had enough … We know our future’s brighter than these troubled times. We still believe in America, and we deserve a president who believes in us, and I believe in the American people.” Romney was feeling bullish after his huge victory in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico on Saturday, where he took more than 83 percent of the vote and likely all 20 delegates. Pundits said he needed a solid victory in Obama’s former home state in order to tamp down the growing buzz about the potential for a contested GOP convention in August should he fail to get enough delegates to close the deal before then. Though he had a rough week — which included gaffes in P.R. in which he said the nation needs to adopt English as its official language to gain statehood and a remark on Monday in which he claimed the unemployment rate “doesn’t matter to me” — Santorum was still defiant after his Illinois loss. “This is an election about fundamental and foundational things,” the former Pennsylvania Senator said during a gathering in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. “This is an election about not who’s the best person to manage Washington or manage the economy. We don’t need a manager, we need someone who’s going to pull government up by the roots and do something to liberate the private sector in America.” The race now moves on to Louisiana on Saturday, where, once again, Romney will attempt to prove that he can appeal to the party’s conservative base and that he can win in the South. ‘They’re gonna snap Bon Iver’s neck, they would crush Metallica,’ Kyle Newacheck says of Sum. Voting in round two is already under way! By James Montgomery The Workaholics Photo: MTV News MTV’s Musical March Madness tournament has moved on to the second round, leaving plenty of heavily favored bands by the wayside, in a smoking pile, dreams shattered ( MMM is nothing if not dramatic ). And so, with voting in all round-two matchups currently under way — polls close Sunday at midnight ET — we figured now was a perfect time to gauge the temperature of the tourney with the guys from Comedy Central’s “Workaholics.” After all, they know a thing or two about smoking (we can’t vouch for their dreams, however). Vote for your favorite band, discuss and share on Facebook and Twitter in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket! We caught up with stars Adam Devine , Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck at their rather epic South by Southwest party, and perhaps it was due to the free-flowing beverages — or the cornholing — but, boy, were their predictions off base. In fact, of all the bands they picked, only three still remain in MMM. So while their dreams may not be shattered, their brackets definitely are. But still, you’ve got to give them credit for their enthusiasm … and their ability to throw a killer party. So here’s who the “Workaholics” have winning it all in Musical March Madness. “Maroon 5 for the win. Adam Levine, I’m going to fight you over our name. I’m Adam Devine, I get so many tweets every day like, ‘I love you on “The Voice,” ‘ ” Devine said. “Truthfully, [I’m going] Black Keys versus Jack White in the finals, Black Keys take the win. Sorry, Jack, go tanning or something, you’re freaking us all out.” “I’m going Bruce Springsteen versus Best Coast [in the finals], and Bruce just barely nudges her out,” Anderson added. “That’d be a great show. I’d see that show.” OK, so just in case you haven’t been paying attention, Maroon 5, the Black Keys and Bruce all lost in the first round. Best Coast are still kicking, of course, but right now, they’re locked in a tight battle with “American Idol” fave James Durbin, who shocked the world by knocking off #1 seed the Foo Fighters in round one. So, Bethany, it’s time to rally the troops — a spot in the Sweet 16 is at stake. And while Devine and Anderson may have swung and missed in their picks, the same can’t be said about Newachek, who’s repping hard for dark-horse candidates Sum 41, who rolled all the way to the Elite Eight last year, and appear poised for another deep run this year. Having already taken down #2 Bon Iver, they currently lead #7 Metallica by a slight margin. “I’m going Sum 41 all the way. They’re gonna snap Bon Iver’s neck, they would crush Metallica,” Newachek said. “Sum 41, keep it rocking.” “I used to look like that kid, the bass player,” Holm added. “You know [as a] thinner young man.” MTV’s 2012 Musical March Madness tournament has reached the second round. Voting runs until midnight ET on Sunday, March 25, and winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act is still alive, it’ll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM or by downloading one of our custom badges — but get ready, it only gets more difficult from here on out. This Academy Award winner isn’t too Hollywood to let his voice be heard The Hollywood actor and sometime political activist, George Clooney, was cuffed with zip-ties and taken away in a police van after being arrested during a protest outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington DC. Clooney, who has long campaigned against the government in Khartoum, had intended to be arrested when he planned the protest, which took place on Friday morning. oined by his father, journalist Nick Clooney, US Representative Jim Moran of Virginia and NAACP president Ben Jealous, the actor blocked the entrance to the Sudanese embassy. Clooney and the others were given three orders to disperse by the police and refused to do so. “I’m just trying to raise attention,” Clooney told reporters as he was led away. With his hands tied behind his back, he addressed the plight of “innocent children” in Sudan. “Stop raping them and stop starving them,” he said. “That’s all that we ask. As he was led into a police van an onlooker shouted, “Thank you, George!” “It’s actually a humiliating thing to be arrested no matter what you do, but I’m glad to be standing here with my father,” Clooney added. For those that may scoff at this as an attempt to gain publicity, rest assured that Clooney mean business when it comes to Sudan. Clooney has been in the capital since returning from a tour of Sudan two days ago. On Wednesday he testified in front of the Senate foreign relations committee on the subject of violence in the Nuba mountains in South Kordofan, a state in Sudan near its border with newly independent South Sudan. He told the senators: “We found children filled with shrapnel, including a nine-year-old boy who had both of his hands blown off.” Clooney accused Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, government official Ahmad Harun and defence minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein, of orchestrating systematic killing in the area. Clooney has called on US officials to pressure the Chinese government to force the government of Sudan to open the southern region of the country to relief efforts. As the rainy season approaches, large numbers of the region’s inhabitants could face starvation. On Wednesday, Clooney met President Barack Obama to express his concerns for the people of Sudan. Clooney said he left the meeting optimistic that Obama would pressure Chinese president Hu Jintao to seek a resolution to the region’s ongoing conflict at an upcoming meeting. Singer is adjusting to the fame that’s followed the success of ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ her collabo with Gotye. By Christina Garibaldi Kimbra Photo: Getty Images You may have heard her voice on Gotye’s smash hit “Somebody That I Used to Know,” but everyone will soon be familiar with her name: Kimbra. The New Zealand pop singer will take the stage Thursday (March 15) at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards Festival during SXSW. So what can fans expect from this newcomer when she hits the stage? Well, MTV News caught up with Kimbra last month in New York, and she told us all about her live performances. “Live experience is definitely quite different,” she said. “I think the record shows a more intimate or reflective side of what I do, but the live show is all about showing more of that aggression.” After working on her debut album for more than three years, the 21-year-old singer/songwriter released Vows in Australia in 2011. It includes catchy and diverse songs like “Cameo Lover” and her latest single, “Good Intent.” Kimbra is set to release Vows in the U.S. on May 22; this version will feature additional songs that she recorded Stateside. “I started working on it when I was 17; now I’m 21,” Kimbra said of the LP. “I think there was a lot of development that needed to happen before I felt like I had something to say musically and lyrically. So yeah, there were some frustrating moments making the album, but I’m glad I took the time I did to make it, and I’m happy with it now. I definitely explore a lot on the album. It’s called Vows, so it talks a bit about the idea of commitment and making promises, but also breaking promises and how you deal with that.” Kimbra has a refreshing yet soulful sound, which she credits to her eclectic taste in music. “It’s hard to describe in a few words,” she said of her sound. “But I’m definitely influenced by some R&B. I also loved musical theater as a kid, so I think that’s what brings more theatrical elements to the music. I’d like to think it’s Prague-pop or something like that. I like to think it’s progressive in some way, but still pop music at the end of the day.” Kimbra is still trying to get used to the newfound fame that’s come with the success of Gotye’s hit. The video, which features the pair without clothing, currently has over 111 million views on YouTube . “We did vocals to that song, at least my verse, in my bedroom, [and] really chilled out,” Kimbra said of recording the track. “I think at the time we were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a cool song,’ but we didn’t think it would be quite what it’s been, so I think it’s a humbling experience for both of us.” Following her performance at the Woodies fest, Kimbra will be hitting the road with Gotye in March and will be back on tour in May with Foster the People . The Woodies invade SXSW on March 15 with the Woodies Festival. The best of the 2012 mtvU Woodies will air on MTV and mtvU on March 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
