Don’t Believe The Hype!! Facebook Message Telling Voters Not To Select ‘All Dems’ Button Is Pure Bull!

You’ve probably already seen the ‘urgent’ message circulating in your facebook news feed, but reps from the NAACP are saying this isht just isn’t true and is just another tactic being used to confuse voters ! According to The Root : A widely circulated foreboding message purporting to warn supporters of President Obama of an electronic voting “trick” that could exclude their vote for the president if they select only the “All Democrats” option has been debunked by the South Carolina branch of the NAACP. Still, it continues to make the rounds on Facebook and email, spreading confusion that some worry could lead voters in states that allow straight-ticket voting to remove their vote for the office of the president. “PLEASE PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THIS! In the event that you are planning to vote democrat on Nov. 6, when you go into the voting booths, DO NOT SELECT THE BUTTON “all democrats” first because Barack Obama will be excluded from the vote,” a screenshot of a Facebook status attached to one email reads. It goes on to instruct voters to select “Barack Obama” first and then “all democrats” and ends with “People are not being told this information because they are trying every trick in the book.” Not true, says the South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP. The organization has issued a warning to voters: “If a South Carolina voter chooses the straight party option first on our voting machines, the selection box for all candidates of the intended political party will automatically be checked, including the presidential candidate.” The main concern raised by the message is that voters confused by the instructions may touch their presidential selection a second time, which would actually remove their vote for that office, the NAACP told WCBD-TV Charleston in October. Thus, the organization recommends that each voter review all of his or her selections made on the voting machine before pressing the final button to confirm the ballot and asks that anyone who has forwarded the misleading message to others follow up with a message of caution about the advice. South Carolina NAACP President Lonnie Randolph says that he’s not surprised that the misleading information seems to targets the types of ballots used by South Carolina voters. He attributes the effort to a long history of hostility toward African-American political power in his own state that dates back to Reconstruction. He doesn’t know who’s behind it, but he believes that it has already caused confusion, particularly among the state’s more vulnerable citizens. “That’s why we had a press conference. So many people in South Carolina already feel threatened. We have a lot of first-time voters in this election, and the machines are not the simplest thing to deal with. Folks will need some assistance, particularly elderly people,” he said. If this is, in fact, a hoax meant to confuse voters or suppress the votes of Democrats, it’s unfortunately nothing new. Just last month, Think Progress warned of misinformation campaigns, including those telling voters that they can vote by phone, that they are at risk of being purged from the rolls, that they must show identification to vote and more. Randolph told The Root that South Carolina has seen other forms of intimidation and misleading information this election cycle, including employers threatening their employees with layoffs, reduced house, and loss of health insurance if Mitt Romney is not elected, as well as recent e-mails attempting to convince voters that, as result of Hurricane Sandy, the election date has been moved. Okay folks…spread the word and make sure you get your azzes in to the polls tomorrow! This isht is REAL! Images via facebook/WENN

And It Begins: Schemin’ Azz GOP Officials In Major Swing States Admit To Losing Voter Registration Forms And Refusing To Extend Voting Hours!!

Republican Government Officials Admit To Scheming To Keep Americans From Voting As we get closer and closer to election day, things are starting to look a whole lot like the shady Florida voting scandal that put President Bush in office back in 2000. First up, the Ohio Secretary of State, who happens to be a GOP goon aka Repblican, has admitted to “misplacing” thousands of Ohio voter registration forms… via News One 33,000 updated voter registration records were felled by a glitch triggered by “change-of-address” records and were resent by Husted’s office to local election officials. Voter rights advocates contend that thousands of absentee-ballot requests may have been incorrectly rejected in Ohio due to the software snafu between the secretary of state offices and the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The Columbus Dispatch reports that county election boards did not have current addresses for a number of registrants. The glitch was immediately discovered, with the majority of the group able to be processed. The remaining 33,000 records are said to be undergoing process, and the state’s election board promises that there will be enough time to power through the erroneous data. And as if that’s not bad enough… Floridians across the state are asking Gov. Rick Scott (pictured) to extend early voting hours. But despite long lines at early voting sites and missing absentee ballots, the Republican governor is unlikely to heed their calls. Scott, who already passed a law last year limiting early voting days to 8 from 14, has the support of his fellow politicians. Republican officials, such as Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, have said they don’t plan on asking Scott for more voting time. This is expected to result in longer lines next Tuesday. So far, over 3 million Floridians had voted by mail Wednesday evening. Democratic voters lead in early voting. SMH. Incase you hadn’t already noticed, ish is real out here in these election 2012 streets. We hope you are paying attention to what’s going on Bossipers and we hope things like this help emphasize how it important it is to get out there and vote. Don’t let these GOP goons scare you away from the polls with their antics! Our voices will be heard.

Trio Of Texas Judges Smack Down New Voter ID Laws And Blast ‘Racist’ Legislators

Take that Texas! The state’s got a history of voter discrimination and this new legislation would have violated the Voting Rights Act. The judges said the new law would require tens of thousands of registered Texas voters who are poor and do not drive cars to travel to a state motor vehicle office to obtain the required state photo ID card. And one-third of Texas counties do not have a Department of Public Safety (DPS) office, they noted. “Even the most committed citizen, we think, would agree that a 200- to 250-mile round trip — especially for would-be voters having no driver’s license — constitutes a substantial burden on the right to vote,” said Judge David Tatel in unanimous opinion. He noted that about 13% of the state’s black voters, and 7% of its Latinos, do not have an automobile in the household. And the state drivers’ license offices are not open on weekends. “Poorer citizens, especially those working for hourly wages, will likely be less able to take time off work to travel to a DPS office,” Tatel said. “A law that forces poorer citizens to choose between their wages and their franchise unquestionably denies or abridges the right to vote.” Guess it’s no surprise but not everyone’s too happy about it. Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott (undercover KKK at it’s finest) is taking the ruling to the US Supreme Court and said: “we are confident that we will prevail.” We’ll have to wait and see if this clown actually ends up appealing; we hope there’s not enough time for him to get this reversed. Harry Potter And Katniss Need A Movie Awards Hero

Captain America, Thor and Channing Tatum’s Jenko battle it out on Twitter to win Best Hero on Sunday. By Ryan J. Downey Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” Photo: Warner Bros. Harry Potter spent several movies (and books, of course) battling Voldemort, both indirectly and in face-to-face confrontations. Katniss Everdeen’s skill with a bow and arrow has kept her alive against considerable odds. Captain America has fought bad guys (like his arch-nemesis the Red Skull) in various incarnations since World War II, whether with the Invaders, the Howling Commandos or the Avengers. His teammate, Thor, has gone up against all manner of sinister foes across all the nine realms, not the least of which being his half-brother, the mischievous Loki. Jenko, from the big-screen version of “21 Jump Street,” not only had to contend with drug dealers, but there was the whole “politics of high school” drama too. But right now, all these heroes are facing their most fervent, vocal, communicative, evolving and passionate adversary yet: Twitter. The MTV Movie Awards first-ever social voting category, Best Hero , has harnessed the power of Twitter like Marvel supervillains harnessing the power of the Cosmic Cube to determine which of the big screen do-gooders (many of them ripped from the written page) is truly the people’s champion. It’s been up-to-the-minute action worthy of some of their biggest adventures, with the instantaneous might of the microblogging medium allowing each of them to rise and fall in the ranks constantly as fans tweet their favorites with special hashtags. Harry Potter and “Hunger Games” hero Katniss have been in the closest competition for the top spot, each with well over 100,000 votes as of this writing. Katniss, of course, is just starting her movie franchise stardom even as the onetime boy wizard has grown up and moved on after last year’s final “Potter” installment. “The Avengers” mopped the floor with the blockbuster “Hunger Games,” usurping the novel-based movie’s throne to become the #1 movie of 2012 thus far (and rising through the top five in the all-time list as well). However, the Best Hero category may have split the Avengers fan vote by pitting two of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against each other. Captain America has been a distant third with his pal Thor even further behind at #4. Jenko from “21 Jump Street,” the smash comedic take on the ’80s TV show of the same name about a group of cops who go undercover in high school, has his work cut out for him. He’s trailing behind all the other heroes, but in fairness, he doesn’t have the same historical power of his foes. Channing Tatum also had to walk in the shadow of Johnny Depp (who — spoiler — reprised his TV role in a brief cameo) in “Jump Street,” though it won favor with critics (85 percent on the Tomatometer!) and fans ($136 million at the box office! For an action comedy! In March!) alike. Channing Tatum, of course, is also nominated in the Best Kiss category thanks to his steamy lip-lock with Rachel McAdams in “The Vow.” But when we sat down with him on Thursday, he told us he’s confident that a certain franchise has that category in the bag. “It doesn’t matter. The ‘Twilight’ kids always sweep it,” he told MTV News when he sat down for the “Magic Mike” MTV Sneak Peek Week event . “They sweep it every time.” He was kind enough to personally thank MTV News’ @JoshuaHorowitz and the small but dedicated army of #VoteJenko fans himself from his own Twitter account, @ChanningTatum. Twitter user @lesleycherrypie voted Jenko, “Not only because he’s hot, but that is a big part of it.” @CaraFoshizzle quoted several of her favorite lines from “Captain America: The First Avenger” as she tweeted her vote for Mr. Steve Rogers. @HarryPotterings pleaded, “Please #VOTEPOTTER before the voting closes! It’s one of our last chances to win an award for our childhood.” @CleverGranger said, “Katniss ‘won’ The Hunger Games, but Harry ‘saved’ the wizarding world. Who’s the true hero now?” Quotes from “The Hunger Games” have flooded the Twitter-verse, as well. @MaryamA115 said, “She’s getting closer! 2nd place now. :D” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET.
