‘If you didn’t like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do,’ actress promises MTV News. By Kara Warner with reporting by Josh Horowitz Anne Hathaway as Catwoman Photo: Warner Bros It was the photo that launched a thousand blog posts, tweets and message-board debates. Last week, the Web was ablaze when Warner Bros. released the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle in “The Dark Knight Rises.” MTV News was immediately on the case, offering up our own analysis , as well as thoughts from a few experts on what the photo of Hathaway in costume, riding what looked to be Batman’s motorcycle, meant for the character and her assumed transformation into Catwoman. Check out our photo analysis of Hathaway’s Catwoman. Now, in knowing how tight-lipped the “Dark Knight Rises” stars are sworn to be about the films, when we caught up with Hathaway as she promoted the upcoming movie “One Day,” we didn’t expect her to offer any commentary about the photo — but she surprised us. “I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo],” she said. “And I happen to know that MTV’s reaction was ‘meh.’ ” Now, we’re not sure about the “meh” quote, but we will admit to using the phrases “cautiously optimistic,” “unflattering” and “underwhelming” in our analysis. Regardless, Hathaway said that no matter the first impressions, there is a lot more happening with that suit. “What I am happy to say is, if you didn’t like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do,” she promised. “And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Dark Knight Rises.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘We actually filmed three videos in one day,’ Ross boasts to MTV News about busy stretch, which also included DJ Khaled’s ‘Welcome to My Hood.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Rick Ross Photo: MTV News Since Rick Ross put together his new Maybach Music Group roster, the Bawse has been working overtime. Ross has been scooping up artists for his Warner Bros.-distributed MMG label, recording for the imprint’s first compilation ( Self Made, Vol.1 ) and filming music videos at a rapid pace. In an interview with MTV News, Ross spoke about his work ethic, boasting that he shot a trio of music videos within a 24-hour time span. Two of the clips — “Pandemonium,” featuring Ross’ new recruits Wale and Meek Mill, and “Play Your Part” — will appear on Self Made, Vol.1. “We actually filmed three videos in one day,” Ross said backstage at the New Orleans stop on Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour . “We filmed ‘Play Your Part’ and ‘Pandemonium.’ We actually filmed all the way until 7 a.m., until it was time to go shoot [DJ] Khaled’s ‘Welcome to My Hood’ .” For Rick, the inspiration behind “Pandemonium” was simple: “We started in the back, now we the MCs in the front, and that was the way that we all felt. You know, Meek Mill just being released from jail, his whole situation, his father being slain, just his whole story just [smelled] like triumph. Wale’s story and us all sitting in the room and us all believing in our abilities.” “Play Your Part” features Chester French frontman D.A. Wallach singing on the hook. “I sent him the track, and he put an incredible chorus on there and it was swagged out,” Ross said. “And when he came to the video, it was just the energy he brought. It was super cool.” Self Made, Vol.1 hits stores May 24. What do you think of Ross’ Maybach Music Group lineup? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Rick Ross (Hip-Hop)
Courteney Cox has handled her separation from David Arquette with impressive maturity, supporting the actor through tough times and admissions of sex with other women . Which is why we were a bit surprised to hear Cox join Arquette for a raunchy, in-depth interview with Howard Stern Thursday afternoon. She was asked about her ex-husband’s sexual appetite and said it actually contributed to their split. “Whenever I would need consoling from David, he could not literally put his arm around me for one second without completely getting a boner,” Cox said. Arquette defended himself by saying on air: “I’m always ready for [Courteney]. I know I’m more in touch with what she needs now…She takes one sort of thing and she clumps it [and says] that’s what happens all the time in our relationship. It’s not really true.” Is there for a future for this couple? It does sound that way, as Cox insists she hasn’t slept with anyone since they took a break and added: “The truth of the matter is that we love each other so much. We have such affection for each other but we are very different.”
During his tour stops around the country, Charlie Sheen has made it clear: he wants to return to Two and a Half Men , even telling a crowd in NYC that he’d be willing to write an apology to Chuck Lorre. There’s just one problem: Warner Brothers does not want the actor back, and it’s sick of him implying there’s any possibility of the company reuniting with the star. Will viewers ever see Charlie Harper again? Warner Brothers has actually sent a letter to Sheen’s lawyer that says Charlie’s “statements” about negotiating for a return “are false.” It adds: “As you know, there have been no discussions, there are no discussions and there will be no discussions, regarding his returning to or having any involvement with the series.” Naturally, Sheen’s attorney, Marty Singer, sees things differently. He tells TMZ “there WERE discussions” with Warner Brothers,” slamming the aforementioned letter as “absolutely false.” “There have been discussions as late as Tuesday, and all parties have been involved – Warner Bros., CBS, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen,” says Singer. Sigh . What an annoying mess. You tell us, readers: Do you want Sheen to star again on Two and a Half Men?
The cast of “The Cosby Show” reunited last night at the TV Land Awards where they received the Impact Award from presenter Stevie Wonder. Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Tempestt Bledsoe, Sabrina LeBeauf, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Raven Symone and Malcolm-Jamal Warner all showed. “It means that not only are we still relevant today, we made some sort of a difference, and some sort of an impact 25 years ago,” Sabrina LeBeauf said of the award. Her on-screen husband Geoffrey Owens (who played Elvin) said, “I don’t see any show on now that impacts people in that way [that] family show [did]. I think it’s fair to say that, unfortunately, that’s a little bit of the past right now.” We are not at all surprised Lisa Bonet didn’t come, but it still would have been nice to see her. ‘If they don’t necessarily see you in the part, that can be an issue,’ actress tells MTV News of book series’ loyal readers. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Lilly Collins at WonderCon 2011 Photo: Getty Images Among the movie-obsessed here at MTV News, there is always a lot of talk about highly anticipated upcoming films. Naturally, the summer blockbusters garner their fair share of enthusiasm, but recently, a lot of talk has turned toward the much-buzzed-about book-to-screen adaptations of young adult novels such as “The Hunger Games” and “The Mortal Instruments.” Speaking to director Scott Stewart’s adaptation of “Mortal Instruments,” MTV News recently caught up with lucky actress Lily Collins, who will portray fan-favorite protagonist Clarissa “Clary” Fray, about what makes the film and book series so special. “It’s an amazing series of books,” Collins gushed to MTV News at WonderCon. “Cassandra Clare’s books are incredible. I’m a huge fan myself, so to be able to play the heroine I love is incredible. It’s a story based on a young woman, an empowered young woman [who is] confident and determined, and she ends up surprising everyone with her abilities,” Collins explained. “I think it’s incredible for the story to be about a young girl and not one that is just a girl in the story. It really is her story.” Collins said she is incredibly excited and grateful to everyone who has offered their support of her landing the role. “To have the support of Scott [Stewart] and Clint Culpepper at Screen Gems and everyone, it means a lot that they saw something in me from ‘Priest,’ ” she said. “The fans have responded really, really positively, which is all you can ask for, because when you cast a heroine of a series of books that people are already fans of, if they don’t necessarily see you in the part, that can be an issue, so I feel very grateful to them.” “Instruments” author Cassandra Clare has also issued her stamp of approval. “I love Lily Collins,” she recently gushed in an online video.
