While the family petitioned the court for guardianship, Foster wrote that she was opposed to the idea of her daughter living with her aunt, Nipsey’s sister. “I strongly oppose both of the petitions filed by Samantha Alexandria Smith, Samiel Asghedom and Angelique Smith,” Foster says. “I am the mother of Emani Asghedom and there is no good reason my rights as her mother should be taken away from me, or otherwise reduced as her mother.” Apparently, a judge didn’t agree. The court found that Nipsey’s family provided enough evidence to prove that Nipsey’s siblings Samantha Smith, Sam Asghedom and his mother Angelique Smith have been named Emani’s guardians. Emani is expected to inherit half of Nipsey’s 2 million estate. The son he shares with Lauren London, 3-year-old Kross, will inherit the other half. In a recent interview with Refinery29 , the actress revealed that just like many young Black woman , she has had her reservations about her natural hair. “The struggle’s always been real for me and my hair,” she tells the publication.” The options can seem limited when you have a kinkier texture. I really prefer my hair being natural. While natural hair can be a huge deal for many young Black women who has experienced push back from society about their coily texture, Zoe shares that beauty lane as a whole has been a bit of a personal transformation. “The same goes for makeup, too,” she’s continues. “It shouldn’t be something you use to cover up. And I feel like YSL Beauty isn’t asking me to cover myself up or be something I’m not. Makeup should highlight your individuality.” We have to admit, this is refreshing to hear. In the current Instagram-era where many people believe in Facetune and heavy makeup, perfection can be an unrealistic goal in beauty. It’s nice to see a celeb get real and honest about the constructs of the beauty world. Institute Executive Director Brennen Dicker says that Ludacris was the perfect choice for this role due to his vast industry knowledge. Not only has the rapper been successful in his own right, but he also crafted and helped discover other artists such as 2 Chainz and Chingy, who both released successful albums and singles while under his guidance, regardless of how those situations may have ended. This program is unique because even though it’s at a college, it still prepares students for untraditional jobs in entertainment such as managers in music, video game entrepreneurship, and film opportunities. Kids all across the country have been begging for more guidance from the people in life who did it their way, and it’s awesome to see Georgia State hear their requests and cater to it!
