Source: kali9 / Getty Missouri Police On Camera Smashing Suspect’s Car Window To Pull Him Out Police officers from the St. Ann Police Department were caught on camera smashing a man’s car window and dragging him out by his head and choking him with the seatbelt. A passerby, Lisa Jones Watson, recorded the incident and posted the video to Facebook. Let the cops tell it, they HAD to do this to “protect themselves”. Seems to always be the excuse when someone’s civil rights are violated. The St. Ann police department released a statement via Facebook in an attempt to explain their officers’ behavior… What does this look like to YOU?

Most recently, he’s launched a scholarship through the Shawn Carter Foundation for students who would like to study abroad. “The study abroad program was designed by JAY-Z’s charitable foundation and the Institute for International Education (IIE)/Gilman International Scholarship Program. The program was started to ‘designed to expand the global experiences and leadership opportunities for underserved students through establishment of full study-abroad scholarships,’ Travel Noire reports, adding that “according to data from the foundation, 64 percent of the foundation’s scholars are first-generation college students.” Students who are selected will reportedly be required to complete a service project while abroad. Hov’s scholarship for study abroad opportunities comes just as the music mogul is beginning to gain traction in his fight to reform the criminal justice system . For the first time, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss America are all Black women and the three appeared on CBS to describe their journey and groundbreaking wins: “It’s symbolic, I think, and it sends a message across the world really that you can be anything you want to be, and there doesn’t have to be just one of us at a time up here,” Miss America 2019 Nia Franklin said on Tuesday. “It can be all. And I think it showcases diversity as well.” Cheslie Kryst, who won the title of Miss USA last Thursday also added, “It’s also a reminder of how far we have to go.” She continued: “I believe when Ursula Burns was no longer the CEO of Xerox, there were no more Black female CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and that is an unfortunate statistic to know. So I think this celebration or this landmark should we celebrated, but it’s also a reminder we have a lot to do.” Kryst currently serves as an attorney in North Carolina who practices civil litigation, and she also represents prisoners in pro-bono work. Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris , who ignored advice and proudly showcased her natural curls during the competition, also explained how representation matters: “I have all these influencers that I look up to on social media. Now I’m getting messages from moms of biracial kids, and kids themselves that are biracial. And girls that are scared to wear their hair naturally, and them saying that I have been a big influence in their lives and that they’re going to start wearing their hair naturally or that they’re more proud to just be themselves. It fills my heart with joy,” Garris said. Garris explained how she used to always straighten her hair for pageants: “It’s just kind of what I did. I looked up to my mom a lot, and she had straight blond hair. I really wanted to embody the same characteristics and I thought I had to do that physically. He is here… … and he is perfect. Two days after welcoming their first child into the world , Meghan Markle and Prince Harry debuted the still-unnamed little boy at St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle (where they had their royal wedding reception). The famous couple had previously announced it would not pose with the infant outside of the hospital immediately after birth, somewhat bucking Royal tradition. But the small wait has now been made worthwhile because this tiny guy is just such a cutie patootie. And his parents look so very happy! In all, the social media megastar has helped 17 inmates gain freedom in the past 90 days. TMZ reports : We’ve learned Kim and her legal team helped 17 prisoners gain freedom over the last 3 months or so — each of them having served years of life sentences without parole … for low-level drug offenses. It’s all part of the 90 Days of Freedom campaign launched by Kim’s lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, in partnership with lawyer MiAngel Cody of The Decarceration Collective. The campaign puts the First Step Act — signed by President Trump last year — to work for prisoners who received Draconian sentences. Kim is footing the bill while Barnett, who also co-founded the Buried Alive advocacy group, and Cody handle the lawyering. We’re told Kim’s been secretly funding the campaign over the past few months. We’ve known about a few cases Kim’s backed — Jeffrey Stringer in Florida, Cyntoia Brown in Tennessee, Alice Marie Johnson in Alabama — but now we know the list is much longer.
