Muhlaysia Booker’s family identified her as a woman seen in a video being pummeled by a man after a minor traffic accident. The Dallas News reports that Edward Thomas, 29, was arrested Sunday in connection with the assault that was recorded on video. He faces a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Authorities say Muhlaysia accidentally backed into another vehicle Saturday and the other driver, who is named as a suspect in the arrest-warrant affidavit but who has not been arrested, ran her off the road to keep her from fleeing. The woman says the other driver pointed a gun at her and refused to let her leave unless she paid for the damage, according to the affidavit. A crowd that included Edward Thomas then gathered and “a voice on the video” offered Thomas $200 to beat Muhlaysia. The suspect then put on gloves to accept the offer and punched Muhlaysia several times while people watched. Another suspect jumped in and stomped on the woman. Muhlaysia was transported to a local hospital. She suffered facial fractures and a broken wrist. UPDATE: Muhlaysia Booker’s family tells me she’s home from the hospital continuing to recover. They say she’s got a broken wrist and several facial fractures. They’re still hoping hate crime charges will be pursued after the Oak Cliff assault. https://t.co/BP73lDNIVY @NBCDFW pic.twitter.com/5KAh1pRPtl — Allie Spillyards (@AllieSpillyards) April 14, 2019 Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings released a statement on the assault saying; “Chief Hall alerted me this morning to the assault at the Royal Crest Apartments and I have seen a video of what happened. I am extremely angry about what appears to be mob violence against this woman. I am in contact with the chief and she assured me that the Dallas Police Department is fully investigating, including the possibility that this was a hate crime. Those who did this do not represent how Dallasites feel about our thriving LGBTQ community. We will not stand for this kind of behavior.” Thomas remains in the Dallas County jail with his bail set at $75,000. We sincerely hope Muhlaysia and her family get the justice they deserve. It’s obvious that several other people need to be arrested for their involvement.

Starting 2020 Morehouse College Will Admit Transgender Male Students

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Atlanta’s famous Morehouse College announced that it will be admitting transgender men to the school in 2020. The school’s board of trustees approved the move over the weekend stating,  “Once admitted to the College, all students are expected to self-identify as men throughout their education at Morehouse.” Other single gender schools across the country are also taking a closer look at admissions policies for transgender students. Mills College in Oakland, as well as Spelman College have both changed admissions policies in the past years. Spelman College graduated their first  transgender woman in 2018. I assume this is a sign of how fucking old I am, but I think Phoebe Price is incredible… I know that none of the cool kids, or young kids of Instagram have any idea who she is…despite her paving the way for them as a non celebrity, doing celebrity things, and being documented for it. I am not a gamer, but I did have a Playstation in 1998 that some girl who let me pee on her gave me as a gift… With that Playstation I played Tony Hawk Pro Skater – where one of the characters was skater boy Chad Muska – the cool guy with the backpack that had a built in stereo system cuz he was so into music bro….I think he may have even gone onto do the DJ thing along with everyone else, I know he owned a shoe company called SUPRA, and C1RCA… and I guess got pretty rich off that…I don’t know why I remember anything about 1998…but I will say that it must have to do with early onslaught alzheimers .. because I’ve been having a lot of detailed memories of the 90s…while not being able to articulate a sentence or remember to wipe my ass…it’s a trade off I guess…vivid Glory Days of a drunken idiot… That said, I am assuming Beate Muska is his daughter. Victim Shot In Nipsey Hussle Murder Arrested For Parole Violation

Lathan, 56, who was one of the two men who were shot and wounded during the March 31 shooting has been in jail since Monday. One of the terms for most California parolees is that they have no interaction with felons or gang members. Due to Hussle’s affiliation with the Rollin 60’s Crips, it is widely believed that Lathan may have violated his parole that way. Lathan had served 20 years for murder before being released on parole. “Gov. Gavin Newsom should order the immediate release of Kerry. His arrest sends a horrible message to parolees trying to integrate into society and for [corrections] officials to label Hussle, who was a Grammy-nominated artist entrepreneur, gentrification fighter and philanthropist, as a known gang member is a slap in the face to his family and our grieving community,” community activist Najee Ali told  The Los Angeles Times on Friday. RELATED:  Watch Nipsey Hussle’s Celebration Of Life On March 31, Hussle went to The Marathon Store to get some clothes for Lathan so that he would be fresh to see his family and friends for the first time in well over two decades. Then, tragedy struck. Lathan, Hussle and another man were standing outside of The Marathon Clothing store when  Eric Holder approached them. After a brief verbal confrontation between he and Hussle, the two shook hands and Holder left. He then later returned, opening fire, hitting Lathan in the back and shooting Hussle numerous times. Hussle died at an LA area hospital. Holder was arrested on April 2 and has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder in the killing. A public memorial service was held Thursday for Hussle at the Staples Center followed by a long procession through the streets of Los Angeles, culminating in a large gathering on the newly minted Nipsey Hussle Square where The Marathon Clothing Store is located. “The Marathon Continues,” was an underlying theme throughout as the streets of South Central L.A. filled with well wishers, fans and more. He was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Hollywood Hills on Friday. Source: Prince Williams / Getty Jim Jones caught a break in his Georgia drug and gun case . After taking a plea deal, the Dipset rapper was able to avoid jail time. Jones was facing five felonies after a car he was a passenger in allegedly was chased down by cops, with guns and drugs found in the vehicle after it was searched. Reports TMZ : According to court docs out of Coweta County, GA — where Jim was facing 5 felony counts and a misdemeanor from his June 2018 arrest — Jim was sentenced to 2 years probation and a $1,500 fine, plus minor court costs.  We’re told 3 of the 6 charges were dropped, including a felony drug charge and 2 felony counts of possession of a firearm. The other 3 charges will go away if he stays out of trouble while on probation — all part of a plea deal. According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Jim has to stay off booze and drugs for the next couple years and report to his probation officer in GA to get the remaining 3 charges dropped from his record. All things considered, he should count himself lucky. We’re willing to bet Jones stays out of trouble because those felony charges carry years in the bing. The good news is, April is going to be a great month in new and Black titles on the streaming service.   Kevin Hart ‘s latest comedy special Irresponsible is available now and he doesn’t shy away from talking about any of the career catastrophes he’s faced as of late. Yes, Hart addresses the Oscars controversy and more. “As a father of three on his second marriage, Kevin Hart proves that being him is indeed a tall order in a fresh special inspired by his own mistakes,” a synopsis reads on Netflix’s website. It’s definitely worth tuning into. Obsessed starring Beyoncé , Idris Elba , and Ali Larter is also available for your viewing pleasure — AND, we know you heard all about Beyoncé’s Homecoming special that will be available on April 17 . Presenting a historic look at the international superstar’s 2018 Coachella performance, in which she paid homage to historically Black colleges and universities all over the nation, the film “traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.” We’re poised and ready to watch the queen work. Not your cup of tea? Tune into a number of other for-the-culture movies hitting Netflix this month, including action thriller I Am Legend , psychological thriller Lakeview Terrace , romantic comedy Someone Great (due 4/19), documentary Grass Is Greener (due 4/20), and civil war tale The Hateful Eight: Extended Version (due 4/25). There’s a little something for (almost) everybody. On the series side of things, the second season of On My Block is out now and it does not disappoint. The iconic New York City venue shuttered in 2017 following a sale to AEG Presents and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment. Now, after a comprehensive renovation, Jay-Z will inaugurate the venue with a “B-Sides” set, featuring older songs and deep cuts. I’ll be Hov’s first time performing at Webster Hall. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 19th, at 11 Am with an AmEx presale starting Thursday, April 18th, at 10 AM. The show is set for April 26th This is great news as Jay’s only other upcoming show at the moment was Woodstock 50.
