The nation needs the so-called Buffett Rule and can’t afford to keep giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans “who don’t need them and didn’t even ask for them,” President Barack Obama said in his weekly address. “As many Americans rush to file their taxes this weekend, it’s worth pointing out that we’ve got a tax system that doesn’t always uphold the principle of everyone doing their part,” Obama… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Blaze Discovery Date : 14/04/2012 10:30 Number of articles : 2

Chris Noth is a married man after quietly exchanging vows with his longtime girlfriend Tara Wilson in a private, outdoor ceremony in Hawaii over the weekend.

Rick Santorum: OUT of Presidential Race

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum suspended his White House bid on Tuesday, all but ceding the Republican presidential nomination to rival Mitt Romney. “We made a decision over the weekend that while this presidential race for us is over for me, and we will suspend our campaign effective today,” he said. Santorum did not endorse Romney in making his announcement, though he did vow to fight to defeat President Obama and help Republicans win in the fall. In a statement, Mitt Romney called Santorum “an able and worthy competitor” and congratulated his often-bitter rival for the formidable campaign he ran. “He has proven to be an important voice in our party and the nation,” said Romney. Rick Santorum Drops Out of GOP Race “We both recognize that what is most important is putting the failures of the last three years behind us and setting America back on the path to prosperity.” Santorum’s campaign insisted earlier in the day that he was not leaving the GOP race despite a decision to cancel his Tuesday morning campaign events. His three-year-old daughter Bella , who suffers from a rare genetic condition called Trisomy 18, had been hospitalized again after falling ill over the weekend. Santorum said that Bella recovered after a “difficult weekend,” but that the situation “did cause us to think in the role that we have as parents in her life.” That, along with his dimming chances of overtaking Romney in the GOP delegate race, likely caused the unapologetic social conservative to pack it in. Nevertheless, he leaves having won more than 10 states in the Republican nominating contest, pushing Romney longer than anyone possibly predicted. Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich remain in the GOP race, but well behind Romney, who appears poised to finally finish this political war of attrition. In a hypothetical matchup of the President and his likely GOP opponent, for whom would you vote if the election were today?

Naomi Watts Ironic Swimsuit Pictures

It’s not very often I find myself posting pictures of a hottie in a one-piece bathing suit, usually because only grandmas and chubsters wear that kind of thing, but every now and again a hottie decides to slip one on and surprise me. Here’s Naomi Watts at the beach over the weekend enjoying a little fun in the sun in her ironic hipster bathing suit. At least I hope it’s supposed to be ironic, she’s not old enough to be wearing this kind of thing. Either way, she’s stirring up controversy in my pants and I like it.

Weekend Receipts: Hunger Games Makes it Three in a Row on Quiet Holiday

Happy Monday! Did you have a good holiday weekend? Here’s hoping it was better than what transpired over the last few days at the box office, where returns ranged from modest to sluggish as America’s families holed up with God and the Masters and whatever else struck their fancies while multiplexes hummed along quietly with a shrinking blockbuster and a few decent runners-up. Your Weekend Receipts 1. The Hunger Games Gross: $33,500,000 ($302,839,000) Screens: 4,137 (PSA $8,098) Weeks: 3 (Change: -42.8%) Spring’s mega-hit crossed the $300 million mark sometime Sunday, while the global tally rose to an insane $459 million. Continued congrats to the gang at Lionsgate, for whom this money will no doubt buy at least 15 new Tyler Perry films. 2. American Reunion Gross: $21,500,000 (new) Screens: 3,192 (PSA $6,736) Weeks: 1 As the American franchise goes, a $21 million opening falls on the low side of a spectrum that runs from American Pie ‘s $18.7 million debut in 1999 to the first sequel’s tremendous $45.1 million bow in 2001. On the bright side, all three previous films grew wickedly long tails here and abroad, pulling in well over $200 million at the end of the day. So sure: It’s not a number you can penetrate a pie with, but history suggests that it’ll get the job done. 3. Titanic 3D Gross: $17,350,000 ($25,710,000) Screens: 2,674 (PSA: $6,488) Weeks: 1 It’s a good thing that James Cameron and Co. aren’t just a bunch of ” greedy motherfuckers ,” because this showing would probably represent quite the disappointment. Art takes the day! 4. Wrath of the Titans Gross: $15,010,000 ($58,899,000) Screens: 3,545 (PSA: $4,234) Weeks: 2 (Change: -55.1%) Barring some late foreign-market miracle, this franchise is probably dead: At $200 million to make and market, it should be sitting on a little softer B.O. cushion than $135 million right now. Dare I say good riddance? 5. Mirror Mirror Gross: $19,000,000 ($36,473,000) Screens: 3,545 (PSA $4,234) Weeks: 2 (Change: -39.3%) A better-than-expected hold, but not much better. That’s about all that I’ve got. [Figures via Box Office Mojo ] Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Will ‘Hunger Games’ Sink 3-D ‘Titanic’ At Box Office?

Katniss and company dominated theaters for the second weekend in a row, but box-office experts wonder if they can tackle the mighty ‘Titanic.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate For the second week in a row, “The Hunger Games” laid claim to the box office. This past weekend offered a unique challenge for the reigning champ, however. Two relatively big studio films, “Wrath of the Titans” and “Mirror Mirror,” challenged Katniss Everdeen and the rest of the tributes, but the two competitors could not overcome. “The Hunger Games” collected an estimated $61 million over the weekend, a 60 percent drop from its $152.5 million debut. Despite its enormous opening weekend, “The Hunger Games” managed to maintain the buzz around it heading into the second weekend. Jeff Bock, a box-office analyst with Exhibitor Relations, Inc., said that for how big “The Hunger Games” opened, a steeper drop could have been expected. “Ticket sales dipped 60 percent, but when compared to ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,’ which dropped 72 percent, that is a great hold,” Bock said. “Especially when you consider how great both films were received. ‘Deathly Hallows, Part 2’ got some of the best reviews of the franchise, and it still had a huge decline in the second weekend.” Part of that lasting success, says Phil Contrino from BoxOffice.com, belongs to the adults, who are interested in seeing the movie but aren’t part of the rabid fanbase. “It’s appealing to adults, and adults don’t feel the need to rush out opening weekend. They’ll take their time discovering it.” Almost as important as what “The Hunger Games” has — like its broad appeal — is what it doesn’t have. “The film has everything: love, mystery, and adventure. One thing it doesn’t have: 3-D,” Bock said. “Proving once again, it is not a necessary distraction for tentpole films.” But can “The Hunger Games” win the weekend competition for a third time in a row? Both Contrino and Box Office Guru’s Gitesh Pandya agree that the fight will be a difficult one. “It’s going to be tough. ‘Titanic’ 3-D and ‘American Reunion’ both look very strong,” Contrino said. Pandya sees James Cameron’s 3-D revamp of “Titanic” as the one that could take down “The Hunger Games.” “This coming weekend, ‘Hunger Games’ will be challenged by the 3-D release of ‘Titanic,’ which can compete with ‘Hunger Games’ for the #1 spot if it can break $30M over the Friday-to-Sunday Easter frame.” How long do you think “The Hunger Games” will stay hot? That ’70s Show’s Lisa Robin Kelly Arrested for Spousal Abuse [PICS]

Remember Lisa Robin Kelly? She played Eric’s sexy sister Laurie Forman on That ’70s Show , got naked in the direct-to-video horror flick Amityville: Dollhouse (1996), did a table dance for Emilio Estevez in Late Last Night (1999), and…well, that’s pretty much it, actually. Things haven’t been going very well for Lisa Robin since That ’70s Show went the way of disco and plaid bellbottoms, and things took an even darker turn when she was arrested on charges of felony spousal abuse in Los Angeles over the weekend. TMZ has obtained her mug shot from the LA County Sheriff’s Department, and she’s practically unrecognizable in the picture. See Lisa Robin Kelly then and now after the jump!
