Lil Wayne’s ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ Video To Premiere On MTV

Weezy’s visual will debut Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com, followed by an exclusive live Q&A on “MTV First: Lil Wayne.” By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne and Sway Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne’s hush-hush visual “6 Foot 7 Foot” has been dubbed a “game-changer” by insiders, and this week Weezy’s legions of fans will finally get a chance to check it out. On Thursday at 8 p.m. ET MTV and MTV.com will air “MTV First: Lil Wayne,” a video-premiere event during which fans can see out the debut of the “6 Foot 7 Foot” clip, as well as go behind-the-scenes of the Hype Williams-directed visual, which was shot in Miami and features upstart lyricist Cory Gunz, who will be featured in the upcoming MTV docu-series “Son of a Gun.” Immediately following the premiere, Wayne will also sit down with MTV News’ Sway for his first live interview since he was released from prison last year. Wayne fans will also have the opportunity to interact with Weezy by submitting questions either in advance or during the live event via MTV.com, Facebook or Twitter by adding the hashtag #askweezy. Wayne supporters have been waiting for a spankin’ new visual from the I Am Not a Human Being lyricist ever since the MC finished his months-long 2010 prison stay in November. According to Weezy insiders, the forthcoming video is slated to make a memorable impression when it drops this week. “I would love to tell everybody the concept but there will be people trying to get the idea and put it out before ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ drops,” Wayne’s videographer DJ Scoob Doo told MTV News . “But once people see the ‘6 Foot 7 Foot,’ I guarantee that it’s going to be a game changer.” The Young Money captain’s prot

Is T-Pain Signing To Young Money?

According to a jeweler who just crafted a Nappy Boy/ Young Money piece, T-Pain is heading to the hitmaking crew. By Mawuse Ziegbe T-Pain Photo: Raymond Boyd/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images Will the king of Auto-Tune soon rock some Young Money-approved jewels? Judging by the footage of some bling that recently hit the Web, T-Pain may be the newest member of Wayne’s crew. In a video that surfaced online Thursday (December 30), jeweler Gabriel Jacobs , who has created rock-laden pieces for Birdman, 50 Cent and more, shows off a hefty ruby-and-black-diamond-studded piece in the shape of the New York Yankees-inspired Young Money logo that also features what appear to be tiny Nappy Boy insignias (the mark of Pain’s label) along the sides. Jacobs says in the clip that he crafted the king-size ice, which he says costs about $40,000 alone and almost $100,000 with the chain, because Pain is signing with Weezy’s camp. A rep for T-Pain did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment at press time. A T-Pain move to Young Money would continue the Auto-Tune crooner’s longstanding musical relationship with Weezy. Wayne and T-Pain have already charted together with collabos like Weezy’s Tha Carter III single “Got Money” and Pain’s Thr33 Ringz cut “Can’t Believe It,” which both dropped in 2008. The dreadlocked duo have also maintained that they plan to put out a joint album, an effort Pain told MTV News in March was temporarily thwarted by Weezy’s eight-month prison bid. “The T-Wayne album, we’re actually gonna wait until he gets out,” Pain said about Weezy’s jail time . “He has so much going on. He has Rebirth out right now. I don’t wanna interrupt that. We just gonna wait until he gets out to really get in on that. We recorded a bunch of songs. But, right now, it’s time for him and his personal sh–. We definitely got an album’s worth of material, but it’s only an album’s worth. It’s nothing to pick from. We just got an album. We can put out whatever we feel like and say, ‘Hey, this is T-Wayne’s album,’ or we can actually try to make it good. Like we’re actually trying to make an album and say, ‘This is the good T-Wayne album.’ Rather than just record 12 songs and say, ‘Here you go, mutha—-as! I know you want it. You gonna buy it anyway, just ’cause you think it’s good.’ ” For Wayne’s part, the MC has said that the collabo-friendly stars “both have the same energy” when he explained their similarities to MTV News in 2008 . “I don’t sleep. If you ask anybody, I don’t sleep. I think it’s the cousin of death. As much as you sleep, you’re impersonating death to me. He don’t sleep. I play all day. He plays all day and all night. The connection is crazy,” he said. “He loves to be creative, he loves to work; I love to create, I love to work. He really wants people to respect his rapping; I really want people to respect my harmonizing.” Do you think T-Pain should sign with Young Money? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists T-Pain

Lil Wayne’s ‘6’7" ‘ Originally For T.I., Bangladesh Says

Producer says he sent beat to Tip’s camp first but was eventually convinced to hand over the track for Weezy. By Mawuse Ziegbe T.I. Photo: Jamie McCarthy/ Getty Images From chart-topping records to serving time behind bars, Lil Wayne and T.I. have a lot in common. In fact, they were both set to lavish lyrics on what eventually became Weezy’s latest joint, “6’7″.” Producer Bangladesh, who supplied the rumbling, insistent beat for Weezy’s beastly 2008 banger “A Milli,” recently revealed that Wayne’s lead lyrical K.O. from Tha Carter IV was originally sent to Tip’s camp. “Due to the situation and the circumstances of the Cash Money situation, I really wasn’t thinking about Wayne at that moment when I made it,” he told BET.com about sidestepping Weezy’s label due to static that cropped up when Bangladesh claimed Cash Money owed him some, well, cash money . “I just knew that the beat was a big track and I couldn’t at the time think of nobody that could swag this out like that or was worthy enough of this beat really. “I was actually sending the beat to Gee [Roberson, Atlantic Records executive] for T.I.,” he added. “I mean, not that I think T.I. would sound good on the beat, they were just looking for a single and somebody said, ‘Man, send that to Gee; T.I. need something.’ ” Even though the producer sent over the track, he knew that Tip wasn’t likely to latch on to the record. Instead, Roberson, who co-manages Weezy, insisted the beat was Carter IV material. “I already dealt with T.I., I know how T.I. is. I knew he wouldn’t really be rocking this beat right there, so I sent it anyway,” he added. “And Gee just hit back talking about Wayne: ‘Man, Wayne’ll kill this, Wayne’ll kill this,’ so I had to really see if I wanted to do it or not, but they’ve been communicating, they’ve been reaching out.” Bangladesh told MTV News on Wednesday that when the beat finally reached Wayne, he attacked it with the same fervor he did the steely Carter III smash, but this time he focused that raw, freewheeling energy to turn out more slickly delivered bars. “The overall wittiness is everything I was saying about ‘A Milli’ when it came to be,” the producer explained. “He freestyled ‘A Milli,’ and before it was big and before we knew what it was gonna do, we all had our opinions of it. A lot of people loved it, but me being the creator of the art, I didn’t see the vision that he had. I think he attacked it as a mixtape. And that was the genius of what he did and it became the biggest thing. The way he approached this one, was everything that I wanted him to do on ‘A Milli.’ I think he’s really focusing on every, every line. It’s like he’s writing. It’s different. It’s a whole ‘nother level of cleverness to it.” Was Wayne the better choice for Bangladesh’s “6’7″ ” beat? Tell us why in the comments! Related Artists T.I. Lil Wayne

By Jocelyn Vena Megan Fox Photo: Nylon The video for Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie” was set to begin shooting on Tuesday. Lil Wayne Taking Prison ‘One Day At A Time,’ Birdman Says

Cash Money boss says Wayne’s crew visits the incarcerated MC ‘every week.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/ Getty Images Updates about Lil Wayne’s jail bid have been pouring in, and in recent weeks Wayne himself has taken to his website, WeezyThanxYou.com, to speak directly to his fans and chop it up about sports . Cash Money honcho Birdman said that the incarcerated superstar is keeping his head up as he rides out the rest of his sentence. “Wayne in good [spirits], taking it one day at a time,” Birdman told HipHollywood.com , adding that Weezy’s camp has been diligent about supporting and visiting the locked-up Grammy winner. “Everybody there supporting him. The whole family there, we there every week. We write, send him pictures, do everything the family supposed to do. We just taking it day by day, working hard, because that’s what he drive on. That’s what we do.” Wayne is roughly midway through his yearlong sentence and, assuming he stays out of trouble, is expected to head home on November 4 , according to the MC’s prison records. Like millions of the superstar’s fans, the Cash Money boss is eagerly anticipating Weezy’s return from Rikers Island. “He be home in a minute and we can’t wait,” Birdman said. When Weezy does return he’ll have a lot of business to tend to, including a $1.1 million tax bill . Young Money’s Jae Millz recently told MTV News that Wayne might mark his return home by heading directly to the stage. “I hear when he comes home, he’s hitting the stage,” Millz said. “I hope they let him keep his inmate uniform. He needs to come onstage with that, the whole Bruce Leroy [jail attire] and take it off and throw all the jewels on and tear it down for everyone. ‘Cause they waiting for him.” Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail: Celebs React Lil Wayne Goes To Jail Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Related Artists Lil Wayne Birdman

Lil Wayne Blogs About LeBron James Joining The Miami Heat

‘I believe that this Miami team will be explosive,’ Wayne says in a post on WeezyThanxYou.com. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/ Getty Images Lil Wayne ‘s yearlong bid at Rikers hasn’t dulled the superstar MC’s love of sports. In a letter to fans posted last week on his website, WeezyThanxYou.com, Wayne revealed that he keeps up with ESPN as part of his daily routine. Now, like millions of basketball fans, LeBron James’ move to the Miami Heat has excited the incarcerated rapper. “Oh LeBron! The recent move by the Miami Heat confirms that we will someday soon have that good ole basketball back,” Wayne wrote in a blog posted Tuesday (July 20) title “The Tricks of the Trade.” With the Heat’s newly acquired superstar talent, Weezy wrote that he expects the team to bring fire to the court. “I believe that this Miami team will be explosive as intended,” Wayne continued. “Anything less than an NBA championship title will be uncivilized.” The MC also described some ways the Florida team might work the court: “Well with [Dwyane] Wade at the 1 and LeBron at the 2 or vice versa even, or Mario Chalmers at the 1, Wade at the 2, and Bron at the 3 … Wow! Not to mention that I didn’t mention [Chris] Bosh, who can live at the 4 or 5. Zone defense will be a must against this team,” Weezy wrote. “That’s 3 players on the court that commands a double team. Just imagine those guys on a fast break, the defender back [pedaling] … Wade can take it to the hole or throw it up and you know Bron. Bron is going to get it … or dish it back to a trailing Chris Bosh who will definitely finish at the rim … again, wow!” The Young Money star also analyzed a potential face-off between the Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA championship. “Hey, what if [former Lakers coach and current Heat President] Pat Riley returns to the sidelines and it ends up being the Lakers vs. Heat in the finals? Riley vs. [current Lakers coach Phil] Jackson! Epic! [Pau] Gasol on [Chris] Bosh, Ron-Ron [Artest] on Bron-Bron, and Kobe [Bryant] on Wade … wow!” In addition to following LeBron’s power moves, the rapper has apparently been keeping tabs on the NBA as a whole and examined the strengths and weaknesses of other teams in the league. “Also, beware of the [Chicago] Bulls. [Carlos] Boozer will fit in well because they’re similar to Utah [Jazz] in many ways. A nice guard surrounded by the shooters,” Weezy wrote. “The Bulls led the league in the rebounds last season and I’m sure they will again with Boozer and [Joakim] Noah.” The MC also dished on the potential performance of the New York Knicks and the Orlando Magic. “If they can stay healthy, then expect [Amar’e Stoudemire] and [Anthony] Randolph to be beasts in the paint,” Wayne wrote, adding, “I’m not sure about Orlando in the East this upcoming season. I mean [Chris] Duhon isn’t exactly a good move but it has potential.” The post suggests that in addition to reclaiming his spot in the hip-hop game, the star is also looking forward to a stirring b-ball season. “I can’t wait to see how teams stack up next season when those other big name players hit the market,” Wayne wrote, capping off the post simply with, “Good ole basketball.” Are you glad Wayne is still keeping up with the sports world? Lil Wayne Launches New Site To Keep Fans Updated From Prison

‘I’m in good spirits man, for real,’ Wayne posted on WeezyThanxYou.com. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Lil Wayne may be away for the moment , but the rapper is making sure he’s not forgotten while he’s gone. The imprisoned superstar launched a new Web site on Friday (April 2), WeezyThanxYou.com , where he’ll post weekly updates, blog about sports and respond to letters he’s received from fans since he began his prison stint last month. “Your letter was so thoughtful and sincere,” he wrote in response to Nurris Terrero of New York. “The way you worded everything left me in awe. Please send suggestions on books I should read. I look forward to checking them out.” In the first posting, Wayne explains that he’s been spending his days working out and reading the bible. The rapper also announced he will revive his popular ESPN blog, where in the past he opined on various sports. Next week’s scheduled post will be on the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Wayne, a father of four, said his family has been most pressing on his mind during his sentence. “My kids race through my mind all day. They know they were created with love, so love is how their life will be defined. I just hope my love and adoration for them provides a temporary bandage on a wound I unknowingly inflicted on them.” “I’m in good spirits man, for real,” he wrote, contradicting rumors he had been involved in an altercation at Rikers Island . In addition to the postings, the site features a clock that counts down how much time the rapper has until his release. It currently rests at 215 days. Fans can also purchase merchandise on WeezyThanxYou.com, including “Free Weezy” Young Money T-shirts. The site was created by Lil Wayne in conjunction with popular hip-hop bloggers Karen Civil and Karla “hustleGRL” Moy. “Weezy explained to me the idea behind WeezyThanxYou.com, which will basically serve as his gateway to the free world,” Civil said in a statement to MTV News. “The site will allow the Young Money quarterback to post daily status updates as well as answer fan questions. ‘I wanted to do something for my fans, so they know I am still with them and that I love them very much,’ Wayne told me not too long ago. Fans who want to keep up on Weezy’s release date will be allowed to see a continuously running countdown clock until Dr. Carter returns home later this year.” What do you think of Lil Wayne’s new Web site?
