Hey My name is Gabby and I never thought that one day I would be emailing my Bieber experience. I live in Perth, Australia and on May 7th I had planned to go to Justin’s concert and my amazing dad managed to get me 5th row tickets! Justin has followed me, DMed and RTed me. Now I am definitely the biggest belieber in my school EASILY and all my friends knew I was going to go to the extremes to glimpse or meet Justin and his crew. I managed to figure out when he was flying into Perth from Adelaide and with a lot of begging and tears, I convinced my dad to drive me there! He was saying, “There is no point” and “Your going to be extremely let down” but knowing me, I would never give up. On May 6th me and my sister @BieberOwnsAus went to the airport at about 10am on Friday. Yes, we were skipping school with BIEBER FEVER. We got the the airport safely and met up with Kaitlyn (@kaitlyn1dbieber), Tessa and Melissa! I met Kaitlyn from Twitter and we organized to meet up (I know.. breaking all the internet rules to not meet strangers). We went around the whole airport for hours and hours and hours just asking if the staff knew about Justin coming in. We managed to get enough information to figure it out. He was arriving at 4:30 at gate 15. We then met a few more Beliebers that we knew off Twitter, we started talking and got the attention of Channel 9. We got interviewed by them, WHICH WENT ON TV AND JUSTIN POSTED THE LINK ON TWITTER! After 5 hours of dedication and having our moments of fame, it was 3pm. We were all getting very nervous! The clock was nearing to 4pm and then 4:15. There was 15 minutes to go! About 100 people had showed up to see him arrive after school even though I had been waiting since 10am. So that was a little annoying! The clock ticked to 4:30 and there were still heaps of people waiting at Gate 15! My stomach was twisting and turning and I couldn’t breath properly. A few Qantas planes landed right after another and with every Qantas plane that landed there were cries and screams! The moment of truth was when we waited for the right plane to turn into the gate. The 1st plane didn’t turn, the 2nd plane didnt turn and then the 3rd slowly but surely turned into GATE 15! I was crying and fangirling thinking JUSTIN BIEBER IS ON THAT PLANE! Minutes past and I was shaking with my iPhone in my hand. The gate doors opened and there was a moment of silence and within 10 seconds I saw a little red beanie at the end of the walkway. This isn’t possible I thought to myself and sure enought Pattie walked out with Kenny behind her and JUSTIN BIEBER! The moment didn’t last for long as they turned into a door on the right but I saw him and that’s all that mattered! I ran up to the window and saw Justin jump into a car and drive off! Click here for the video. I was screaming and crying so much! After I cooled off I thought, if Justin, Pattie and Kenny drove off, where is everyone else? I checked all the conveyer belt things and sure enough I saw Ryan Good, Dan Kanter, Alison, Carin, Alfredo, Justin’s grandparents, dancers, singers. I couldn’t talk so I went up to some of them. I thought it was all over, until a newspaper interviewer from the West Australian asked for a photo of me and Ryan Good in it! Ryan (in his awesome accent) goes “point at the camera” and so we both pointed at the camera. It was awesome, I looked at him about to cry and said, “YOU ARE THE BIGGEST LEGEND” and he turns and says, “No.. you are” Then the West Australian newspaper lady also interviewed me for the newspaper! The next day at the concert it was amazing as well! 5th row was so close! That was the best weekend of my life and I hope he comes back to Perth again one day! Thank you for reading my story and NEVER SAY NEVER! -Gabby @AusOwnsBieber Visit link: Hey My name is Gabby and I never thought that one day I would be…

Young Money rapper, who was born in California, visits ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Tyga Photo: MTV News This week, MTV is celebrating the “New West” by spotlighting California-bred artists like Odd Future, Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, Casey Veggies and, of course, this week’s “RapFix Live” guest Tyga. Sitting with MTV News’ Sway Calloway, Tyga commented on L.A.’s new sound, remarking that the new crop of Cali spitters fair better when employing a more-universal sound. It’s this attitude that Tyga said has helped rookie West Coast rappers make their mark in a post-gangsta-rap era. “I don’t think it’s that hard to break out of L.A. because there are a lot of new artists out,” he said. While the West Coast was traditionally associated with N.W.A. and Dr. Dre’s signature sound, things have been changing over the past few years. “Back in the day, when you had N.W.A., that was the sound for music, and a lot of L.A. artists sound like they’re from L.A. when they rap and stuff, and a lot of people around the world won’t relate as much,” said Tyga, who is currently signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money label. “Odd Future, for example: [The group’s frontman] Tyler don’t sound like he from L.A., so he can get out to more people and his music can be more worldly because it’s a new sound.” Do you agree with Tyga about L.A.’s sound? Sound off in the comments below! Stick with us all week as MTV News turns the spotlight on the New West, the next wave of hip-hop acts helping to restore faith in the L.A. rap scene. From groups like Odd Future to rising MCs like Dom Kennedy, we’ll bring you up close and personal to these artists as they carve their own lanes in the post-gangsta-rap era. Keep it locked here all week for more on the West Coast up-and-comers! Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ With Tyga

‘I keep my ear glued to the street when it comes to these new acts from the West,’ veteran Cali rapper tells MTV News. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Snoop Dogg Photo: MTV News MTV News’ New West Week might be shining a spotlight on L.A. newcomers, but the rapper any rising Cali MC must pay homage to is Snopp Dogg . Since his debut on “Deep Cover” with Dr. Dre, Snoop has achieved multiplatinum success and status as a hip-hop icon, utilizing his talents off the mic as an actor and executive too. The man born Calvin Broadus has always lent a helping hand to MCs making their way in the rap game, especially those hailing from his home coast. “As far as the New West or the young MCs out here on the West Coast, I’m very familiar with them because they call me Uncle Snoop,” Snoop told MTV News. “So more than likely, they come get my blessings on a record, or through mutual friends we connect with each other, because I always keep my ear to the streets and I always love being a part of what’s new and fly representing the West Coast. I’ve always been one to try to put that on the forefront, so I keep my ear glued to the street when it comes to these new acts from the West. I try to be a part of their projects and a part of blowing them up.” Not all the L.A. or Cali rap legends have been as welcoming to new talent as Snoop Dogg. Nevertheless, this new crop of MCs take cues from their rap elders but still manage to carve out unique lanes for themselves. Getting a featured verse from Snoop may give relatively unknown rappers a dose of visibility, but they don’t come cheap, easily running into six figures. The West Coast rap legend is willing to give new jacks with minimal recording budgets a deep discount, if he respects their music and hustle. “When you doing those types of situations, you building relationships and you building trust in a community that doesn’t have no trust right now,” said Snoop, who in some cases has waived his fee for a hot 16 bars entirely. “To me, that means more to me to be able to go back and give these artists a shot and not overcharge them and try to rob the bank and say, ‘Give me what I’m worth.’ Nah, let me give you a shot, because if we playing team ball and I’m from the West, you guys are a part of my team.” Snoop’s dedication to maintaining strong relationships with his peers — veterans and rookies — has paid off, since he has managed to remain relevant in a fickle hip-hop industry throughout a career that spans almost 20 years. While the last major MC to break through from Los Angeles is the Game, Snoop has also appeared on songs from local up-and-comers like Glasses Malone, Nipsey Hussle and YG, to name a few. “The artists are more courageous and more death-defying. They like taking chances,” Snoop said of the recent surge in Cali-repping artists, who MTV will be featuring throughout the next week. “In the past, we would wait for radio and wait for other labels to get behind us and support us. But now you got artists being individually strong on they own and going straight to the Internet, creating songs and dealing with the fans one on one, cutting the middleman out. When you get those views on the Internet, sometimes to me that means way more than a record sale. Because you got people stopping they day to pay attention to you and see you do their thing in a real way.” Stick with us all week as MTV News turns the spotlight on the New West, the next wave of hip-hop acts helping to restore faith in the L.A. rap scene. From groups like Odd Future to rising MCs like Dom Kennedy, we’ll bring you up close and personal to these artists as they carve their own lanes in the post-gansgta rap era. Annual Respect the West SXSW party became a tribute to the late singer, who died earlier in the week. By James Montgomery Warren G and Snoop Dogg perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas on Saturday Photo: Matt Harper/MTV News AUSTIN, Texas — Less than 15 minutes before he was set to hit the stage, Warren G sat in a dressing room deep within Austin’s Venue 222, wearing a white T-shirt emblazoned with the picture of his late friend and cohort, Nate Dogg, who passed away on Tuesday, reportedly from complications from multiple strokes . Obviously still dealing with the loss, Warren was silent, stoic and lost in his thoughts. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, he turned to MTV News’ cameras and said, with the upmost sincerity, “I honestly don’t know how this is going to turn out.” What he was talking about was his tribute to Nate Dogg, which capped off not only the annual Respect the West party (which showcases some of the West Coast’s hottest up-and-coming MCs) but the South by Southwest music festival, too. Throughout the night, DJs spun the classics that featured Dogg’s soulful voice on the hook — “Lay Low,” “The Next Episode,” “21 Questions” — and everyone from Kenan Bell to Kendrick Lamar had already made mention of his legacy during their performances, but really, it was the combination of G and his D.P.G.C. running mates Daz Dillinger and Kurupt that would serve as the final word. So when Warren G said he had no idea how their performance would turn out, you really couldn’t blame him. Sometimes, words fail us. But roughly an hour later, as G, the Dogg Pound and surprise guest Snoop Dogg were exiting the stage, each in a white Nate Dogg T-shirt, the strains of Snoop’s “Real Soon” (which featured Nate on the hook) still hanging in the air, it turns out those concerns were unwarranted. What had just transpired was a fitting tribute to their late friend, a man who, by all accounts, enjoyed his time on Earth to the fullest. In short, it was a celebration, of Nate Dogg’s life and his music, as presented by his closest friends and shared by every hip-hop fan who managed to cram inside Venue 222. Daz and Kurupt were the first to appear onstage, smoking blunts, tearing though “Who Ride Wit Us,” as the crowd — who had been waiting for nearly five hours for this moment — lost their minds. That insanity was only ratcheted up a few minutes later, when Snoop emerged from backstage, puffing a blunt of his own, rocking braids and shades, and the trio rolled through “Let’s Play House.” Soon, they were joined by Warren G, and, at full strength, they launched into the Snoop classic “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None)” — which featured one of Nate Dogg’s most memorable cameos — each man stepping to the front of the stage to deliver their verses. And at the end of the song, his worries subsided, G embraced Snoop and then cracked a wide smile. Warren then took a solo turn on his “This D.J.” and then the four men segued into the 213 track “Whistle While You Hustle,” a move appreciated by fans who have hung with the West Coast since before Dr. Dre’s The Chronic brought the music to the masses. The classics only continued from there — “For All My N—az & Bitches,” “New York, New York” (which saw a fiery back-and-forth between Snoop and Kurupt), Dre’s “Xxplosive” — the audience throwing their W’s up, the men on stage smoking and drinking in celebratory fashion. It all culminated, fittingly enough, with perhaps the two greatest songs Nate Dogg featured on: “Regulate” and, of course, “The Next Episode,” the latter of which featured Snoop pausing mid-song to exhale a plume of smoke heavenwards, and then, at the end of the song, in perhaps the most fitting tribute of all, the DJ cut the record and the entire crowd sang Nate’s famous “Hey, hey, hey, hey/ Smoke weed every day” sign off. It was highest moment of revelry in a night filled with them, a tribute to the man whose voice sold millions of albums, and who was responsible for some of the greatest hooks in history. Warren G most certainly will miss his friend, but he no longer has to worry about doing his memory justice. He and his West Coast brethren did that on Saturday night at South by Southwest, in the most fitting way possible: with a celebration.
