Source: JIJI PRESS / Getty Man Kills Starts Fire At Animation Studio, Killing And Injuring Dozens This is so sad, and the deadliest fire in two decades for Japan. According to AP News , A man screaming “You die!” burst into an animation studio in Kyoto, Tokyo, doused it with a flammable liquid and set it on fire Thursday, killing 33 people. The attack has shocked the country and brought an outpouring of grief from anime fans. Most of the victims were employees of Kyoto Animation, which does work on movies and TV. The fire sent people scrambling up the stairs toward the roof of the three-story building in a desperate attempt to escape. Unfortunately, they died. Thirty-six people in counting have been injured in the blaze, some critically and thirty-three died on site. Reportedly, the suspect is described as a 41-year-old man who did not work for the studio. He was injured and taken to a hospital. Police gave no details on the motive, but a witness told Japanese TV that the attacker angrily complained that something of his had been stolen, possibly by the company. And surprise, surprise, all of these women were born in the United States with the exception of one. Omar is a Somali refugee who moved to the U.S. when she was 12 and she became a citizen in 2000. Source: Mikhail Tereshchenko / Getty Dunkin’ Donuts Worker Made Up A Fake Employee To Collect Their Paychecks A Dunkin’ Donuts manager in Florida was arrested for allegedly hiring an employee that didn’t exist and then pocketing all of the checks that fake worker received, according to reports from WFLA . 29-year-old Markia Nelson, who works at the franchise’s Largo location, hired the fake employee on May 15. From May 16 up until this past Saturday in July, Nelson was keeping up the image that the employee was showing up for work every day — clocking in and out for them and logging a total of 235 hours, according to an arrest report obtained by the outlet. The “employee” earned $8.65 an hour and brought in total of $1,610.84 over the past couple of months. Nelson direct deposited all of the funds into her account, admitting that she used the extra money for her “life expenses.” The company that owns the franchise location was tipped off to the scam and ended up launchinf its own investigation, according to reports from FOX 13 . Once word of the scam reached the Pinellas Park Police Department, it was pretty much an open-and-shut case. Nelson ended up being arrested on Monday. “The employee never actually showed up to do any work, and when they researched the employee’s clock-in and clock-out times, they saw that it was her inputting it each time,” Pinellas Park police Sgt. Lonnie Lancto told the outlet. Nelson has so far only been charged with grand theft, but could face other charges, including identity theft. “She had the information [for the phony worker] who she said … was a friend of hers, so the information for the person was an actual person,” the sergeant told the outlet.

According to PIX11 , Alexandria Medina, a 33-year-old mom from New Rochelle, saved money for years to have liposuction in the Dominican Republic, where it costs substantially less than the U.S. Despite the objection of her mother, Medina visited a clinic where two patients had already died. PEOPLE reports that Dominican surgeon Dr. Félix Almánzar agreed to the liposuction and tummy tuck operations on Medina. This was after U.S. doctors told Medina she needs to lose more weight before undergoing any procedures. On Friday, while undergoing the liposuction, Medina died on the operating table at the Santo Domingo clinic. The death certificate claims she died because of a fatty tissue embolism, or blood clot. “She was beautiful and they killed her,” Medina’s mom Connie Toro said. “They took away my little girl.” Medina said she already had concerns even before she got on the operating table. When she arrived at the clinic, Toro said Medina called her and explained that the clinic was dirty and she had to pay the surgeon up front. According to Medina’s sister, Maxine David, the surgeon didn’t even perform the tummy tuck. “He handed it off to an obstetrician , someone who is not a board certified plastic surgeon,” David said. The sister doesn’t fully believe that an embolism caused her sister’s death. “How am I to believe that that was actually the cause of death and that she stopped breathing. It could be he punctured her lung,” Toro said. Medina’s mom is now seeking justice after her daughter’s death. “First it was shock, disbelief, then it was crying continuous, then it was becoming sporadic and now it’s anger,” she said. “I’m going to hold onto this until they get these people.” Toro has been in contact with Dominican Authorities, and she said the FBI is also investigating. Medina left behind a 14-year-old son and husband. The clinic where she died has since been shut down.

Source: Rodney White / RODNEY WHITE Jeffrey Epstein Arrested For Sex Trafficking Minors Jeffrey Epstein, known for being both a wealthy financier and registered sex offender , was arrested on Saturday on new charges related to accusations that he was involved in sex trafficking dozens of minors between 2002 and 2005. The former hedge-fund manager is now in federal custody, according to the Daily Beast , and is expected to appear in court on Monday. The sealed indictment will reportedly claim that Epstein “sexually exploited dozens of underage girls in a now-familiar scheme: paying them cash for ‘massages’ and then molesting or sexually abusing them.” This abuse allegedly took place in both his Manhattan apartment along with his home in Palm Beach and he could face up to 45 years behind bars. Epstein was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey when his private jet landed from Paris. This arrest comes more than a decade after Epstein avoided federal criminal charges with a once-secret plea deal that has been widely criticized. Under the terms of that deal that is currently being challenged in court, Epstein was able to plead guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced to only 13 months in jail . He had to register as a sex offender, but served his sentence in a private wing of a county jail and came up with an arrangement that allowed him to work out of his office six days a week. Earlier this year, a judge in Florida ruled that Epstein’s victims should have been consulted in regards to the deal. But, last month, the Justice Department said it would not nix Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement. The court hearing for Epstein’s case in on Monday.
