Freddie Gibbs Charged With Sexual Assault Rapper Freddie Gibbs has been formally charged with sexual assault. The Indiana emcee who says he’s innocent is facing rape charges stemming from a 2015 incident in Austria. Rolling Stone reports: Two-and-a-half months after Freddie Gibbs was arrested in France stemming from an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Vienna, Austria in July 2015, the rapper has formally been charged in the incident. A spokesperson for the Vienna criminal court confirmed the charges of “sexual abuse of a defenseless or psychologically impaired person” Wednesday. ” [Gibbs] is alleged to have administered knock-out drops to a woman and then have abused her sexually while she was in a defenseless state,” the spokesperson said in a statement, accusing the rapper of spiking a woman’s drink, Metro US reports. Gibbs could face 10 years in prison if convicted of the charges. Gibbs’ Austrian-based lawyer Thomas Kralik denied that the rapper had any sexual contact with the alleged victim. “He strenuously denies [the accusations],” Kralik said. Gibbs’ U.S. lawyer Theodore Simon added in an email statement to Rolling Stone, “While Freddie Gibbs was charged with an offense today, it remains only an allegation, and it does not in any way change the actual facts that Freddie Gibbs is 100 percent innocent…” What do YOU think about the latest update in the Freddie Gibbs case???

I used to use the word “diversity” all the time. “We want more diverse stories, more diverse characters …” Now I really eliminated it from my vocabulary because I’ve learned from her that the word that most articulates what we’re looking for is what we want to be: included. It’s to have a seat at the table where the decisions are being made. DUVERNAY That was your take on it. WINFREY When Sidney Poitier came to my school [in South Africa], he gave a gift of 550 movies to the girls. He thought if you watch these 550 movies, they’ll be your education for life. He wrote to the girls that his dream for them was to be able to sit at the table of the future where the world’s decisions would be made. I realize now that what he was saying is to be included, to be valued as a person who has something to contribute. And part of that inclusion is making Black stories a part of a larger narrative, rather than making “Black movies.” Because you can’t rely on a White writer to capture or understand And you think we’ve not seen those scenes because the writers often are white? DUVERNAY Yeah, they render it through their lens, so you will see that scene, and it will be with white people. All lives can’t matter to folks who are not us if you don’t know us, if you don’t understand [us]. I don’t make anything as education for anyone; I make it as a love letter to the characters: These are black people; this is a black family. It’s a window into that. The same way when I go see A Separation, an Iranian film about an Iranian family, or when I go to see a Korean film, it is a window into that world, and I see them, and I start to understand and value them. They begin to matter to me. WINFREY In the early years of The Oprah Winfrey Show, I was doing an episode about single parenting. I had a black father on, and we had gone to his house and done a taped piece about him putting his two little girls to bed and reading to them. This was around 1989 to 1990, before email, and the white audience wrote letters saying, “I didn’t know black men did that.” That struck a nerve. Then I realized that the best way to show that black people are just like everybody else, or that gay people are just like everybody else, is not to do a show about gay people or black fathers raising their children [but] just to include them in a story about raising children. Leakes, whose real name is Linnethia Monique Leakes, was hit with a Federal Tax Lien on July 22 in Georgia court. The IRS accuses the 48-year-old reality star of refusing to pay a total of $824,366.01 in back taxes for the year 2014, according to court documents. And if she doesn’t pay, the IRS says it will begin the process of seizing her assets and property to collect on her debt. Last year, Leakes dropped $2million on a brand new six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 9,511square-foot home in Deluth, Georgia. The home is in a gated community that features a country club, golf course and several other amenities. Glenn Beck Urges Conservatives To Understand Black Lives Matter Looks like the devil may be enjoying a fresh snow cone in hell right now, because notoriously bigoted GOP talking head Glenn Beck has just says he actually understands where the Black Lives Matter movement is coming from, and why Black folks get upset about silly little things like being shot dead over minor traffic violations … Via Washington Post : “You can’t be as universally disliked as I am, and not do some soul-searching,” said Beck at a news conference before his speech in Denver. “Well, unless you’re Donald Trump.” Among Beck’s revelations was that the Black Lives Matter movement had a point. Beck, like many conservatives, had criticized the movement as racist and exclusionary. He had led a march in Birmingham, Ala., on the theme of “All Lives Matter.” His news site, The Blaze, had written dutifully about well-meaning people who said “All Lives Matter” and were hounded by the politically correct mob. But since the police shootings in Dallas, where his programs are recorded, Beck had come to view “Black Lives Matter” differently. “All of us are sitting around a table, and we’re all friends,” he said. “It’s time for dessert, and everybody gets pie except for me and you. And you say, ‘I didn’t get any pie.’ Everybody at the table looks at you and says ‘I know. All pie matters.’ You say, ‘but I don’t have any pie! What about my pie?’” Beck’s point was that white Americans simply did not understand what black people had been saying about police in America. The “leaders” of the movement, he said, were “communists and anti-capitalists” whom he could never agree with. “But they’re not the people walking behind them in the street,” he said. “We’re all speaking different languages and we need to talk to each other.” Is it possible that this man was ACTUALLY able to get such a simple concept through his impossibly thick skull?? Audit Finds California’s Gang Database Includes Babies An audit of CA’s CalGang database recently found that at least 42 people on its list are babies under age one…and several of them have issued confessions of their affiliations. Besides the fact that at least a portion of the information entered is completely erroneous — we aren’t sure what a 1-year-old could be an asset to a gang — it’s problematic because most people aren’t even aware that they or their child is listed on the database , nor do they have any legal right to find out. Via Gawker : An audit of California’s state gang database, CalGang, found 42 individuals in the database who were less than one year old at the time of of entry, 28 of whom are further classified as, “admitting to being gang members,” Voice of San Diego reports. A human baby typically utters its first word at around nine months of age. It is not yet known whether some or all of these entries might be for adults whose ages were recorded incorrectly. The findings of the audit, which was requested by the state Legislature and prompted by San Diego Assemblywoman Shirley Webster, were published on Thursday. The audit also found that many parents are not being notified when their children are entered into the database, despite a 2013 law requiring they do so. The audit affirms that some people remain in the database long after they should have been removed and that many are entered into the database without a substantial reason, according to VOSD. Weber was not surprised by the finding, telling VOSD, “I’ve heard these complaints for years. As most folks know, my own son was threatened to be put on the gang list, and he hand’t done anything. I hear these things from parents on a regular basis. Milwaukee authorities report that protestors set fire to squad cars and threw bricks as they sought answers for the murder of a man by an unidentified officer. NBC News reports: Violence and protests erupted in Milwaukee overnight after a man was fatally shot by police during a foot chase. Police said the victim, 23, was armed with a handgun and shot dead by an officer after fleeing a traffic stop on Milwaukee’s north side Saturday afternoon. Hours later angry crowds took to the streets, smashing a police car and setting fire to another. One officer was injured by a flying brick; a gas station and auto-parts store were set alight. Police said gunshots were heard. waukee Mayor Tom Barrett pleaded for calm at an early morning news conference, asking residents to “do everything” to help restore order. “If you love your son, if you love your daughter, text them, call them, pull them by the ears and get ’em home,” he said.
