Seeing multiple movies a week–or even multiple movies a day–for one small fee, even including new releases. Millions flocked to sign up for this offering that seemed too good to be true, and then the bulls**t started. If you’ll recall from the headlines, there was one time MoviePass didn’t pay their vendors and didn’t email users, so they showed up and were turned away from theaters. Even more recently, the same thing happened in July. After that, their business made some more headlines for how much they owed and the debts they just kept racking up. Now, according to The Verge , the end of the road is officially here. MoviePass will join the trend of companies going out business in 2019 as the service announced its last day of operation will be September 14th . The company says it will still seek funding to bring MoviePass back, but it is “unable to predict if or when the MoviePass service will continue.” It also says “there can be no assurance that any such financing will be obtained or available on terms acceptable to the committee.” The committee in question is a new “strategic review committee” made up of Helios and Matheson board directors to “identify, review, and explore all strategic and financial alternatives” for salvaging the firm. Other options for avid movie goers still exist, such AMC’s Stubs reward program. Hopefully, this whole MoviePass fiasco is an eye opener to more hopeful entrepreneurs wanting to do similar things in the future. That eye opener being: KNOW WHEN TO GET OUT. Lingering in trouble just makes everything worse, and the outcome is the same, which is that you’ll probably end up going out of business like MoviePass.
Source: dan thornberg / Getty Former NFL Star Allegedly Stages Fake Hate Crime Former Washington Redskins player, Edawn Louis Coughman , was arrested on Thursday after police say he staged a racially-motivated burglary inside his Georgia restaurant. One day prior to the arrest, police were dispatched to “Create and Bake Restaurant” and “Coughman’s Creamery”, after a maintenance worker at the shopping plaza where Coughman’s establishment is located called about someone burglarizing the restaurant around 9:30 p.m. NEW: Former NFL player turned business owner Edawn Coughman was arrested for allegedly vandalizing his own business, staging a hate crime possibly for insurance money. Gwinnett Police say they found spray paint in his truck, a crow bar, and the spraypainted slurs were still wet. pic.twitter.com/a5UUFdNsTY — Hayley Mason (@HayleyMasonTV) September 13, 2019 Once officers entered the former NFL star’s spot, they found several racially-motivated words and symbols spray-painted on the walls and doors including the word “MAGA”. Police also found several booth cushions sliced open, broken mirrors, cut wires and damaged surveillance system. Shortly after, local police spotted a black truck without a license plate and pulled it over thinking it could be a possible suspect — turns out, it was Coughman driving the vehicle. He told them he noticed the damage and called his insurance company but did not call 911. Upon further investigation, the lead detective on the case sensed that something was suspicious about Coughman, so they arrested him and impounded his vehicle. In the truck, police found a crow bar used to pry open the back door of his business as well as several cans of black spray paint. According to Gwinnett County Police, Coughman conjured a premeditated plan to collect insurance money from his damaged business, disguising it as a hate crime, and selling off the undamaged electronics found in his truck. Coughman has been charged with false report of a crime, insurance fraud and concealing a license plate. He bonded out of jail shortly after, but is expected to appear in court sometime soon.

Source: Richard Theis/ eye em / Getty Arizona State Trooper Charged With 61 Counts Of Sex Abuse An Arizona Department Of Public Safety Trooper was arrested on Tuesday on 61 counts of sex abuse, attempted sex abuse and sexual exploitation after reports say he allegedly tried to exploit female drivers for sexual favors during traffic stops in central Phoenix. #BREAKING : Nine times ex-DPS Trooper Tremaine Jackson had inappropriate contact with women, read about each incident here: https://t.co/U1F9mWHqoz pic.twitter.com/HJeEFFnaGq — azfamily 3TV CBS 5 (@azfamily) September 11, 2019 According to officials , 43-year old Tremaine Jackson who was an AZDPS trooper for about 13 years, used his position of authority to “bargain leniency for favor.” Col. Frank Milstead said at a news conference, “The Arizona Department of Public Safety is a proud and venerable organization with a storied past. Most of the employees serve Arizona with pride and integrity. When one of our own betrays public trust or breaks the law, we respond swiftly and without regret.” Milstead added that officers began an investigation on May 19 after a woman complained that Jackson made inappropriate comments to her, then a second complaint from a different motorist came June 11, alleging that Jackson sexually assaulted a woman during a traffic stop. Jackson was placed on administrative leave that day, but has since been terminated. No word on whether or not Jackson has attained a lawyer, but officials say he’s been booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail on charges including sexual abuse, sexual extortion, unlawful sexual conduct, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping, fraudulent schemes and practices and tampering with a public record. Investigators have only identified eight of his victims, but they believe there are many more. SMH.
Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty Tristan Thompson Was All Over The KUWTK Premiere Season 17 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians premiered on E! this Sunday, and following last season’s drama-filled episodes surrounding the Khloe-Tristan-Jordyn saga, it’s no surprise that their first episode back dealt with some of the longer term aftermath. The episode revolved around Khloe prepping for baby True’s over-the-top first birthday party, which involved questioning her decision to invite Tristan to the party only a few weeks post-break-up. Since they supposedly hadn’t seen one another since his tryst with Jordyn Woods , Khloe decided to invite Tristan over to see True before the party–which is where she says he awkwardly tried to kiss her (seems like a pattern for him, huh?). Later on, at the party, we see Kanye and Tristan deep in conversation for what seems like a pretty long time, which sends Kim over to assess the situation. Ye explains that Tristan went over to confront him about his music being used in KUWTK promo videos to “push a narrative” about his whole cheating scandal, which Thompson wasn’t a fan of. For some reason, this conversation leads Khloe to storm out of her own daughter’s party crying. Source: Justin Sullivan / Getty McDonald’s Employee Punches A Customer Over Some Cold Fries An employee at a McDonald’s in New Orleans allegedly attacked one of their customers who complained about a cold order of fries. The customer was on vacation with his wife in Louisiana last week when he complained to the McDonald’s staff that his order of fries was cold. He admitted to news station 4WWL that he was abrasive to the staff, but he didn’t expect the incident to evolve into actual physical violence. The altercation was caught on camera and shows the customer holding his food before an angry employee charges at him. “You gonna get out? Get out!” the employee yelled at the patron in the video. One of his co-workers intervened and pulled the employee away, but the fight escalated when the customer follows him. That’s when the employee put his hands around the customer’s neck and punched him in the head. According to reports from NOLA.com , though the police arrived on the scene–no charges were filed. But now, the customer is demanding that charges are filed against his aggressor. Lo and behold, before the magazine even gets into circulation, Kanye made sure that dream became a reality. According to reports from TMZ , the couple purchased a massive property in Wyoming just outside of the city Cody . The property is known as the ‘Monster Lake Ranch’ and was sitting on the market at a whopping $14 million. The Ranch itself has 8 lodging units and is known for “monster trout” fishing. It has two freshwater lakes, a restaurant, an event center, and meeting facilities. There are lots of barns, corrals, and horses–in fact, Cody is known as the “rodeo capital of the world.” The publication states that the famous couple reportedly worked out some sort of a deal for the small city and didn’t end up forking over the entire $14 million, but the final price is unknown. Last year, Kanye & company pumped out several albums while working in Wyoming, and West even ended up hosted his listening session in Jackson Hole. That’s when the whole family reportedly fell in love with the area and decided they might wanna stick around. They secured 4500 of the 9000 acres available, while the rest of the land is leased from the federal government. Word on the street is that Ye has already begun recording on the new property and several close friends and team members–including Pusha T– have already visited . Besides proving to be the cream of the crop as far as gameplay goes, other obstacles stand in their way that are completely out of the players’ control. For some, its tuition that holds them back because college surely isn’t cheap. For a lot of these players, it’s injuries , which happen every single week. This weekend, one player had a medical emergency that isn’t seen on the field too often. Cincinnati College’s Kyriq McDonald suffered a seizure mid-play during their blowout at the hands of Ohio State. After the game, his mother confirmed that McDonald has a history of seizures. Hopefully, he can play again, but it’s definitely not worth risking your daily abilities to play football because as we all know, the wrong hit at the wrong time could end up being detrimental.
