Former Roc-A-Fella Employee Talks Jay Z, Rachel Roy, Dame Dash, Aaliyah Yesterday, the Carter-Knowles camp finally released an official statement speaking out about the now-infamous elevator altercation between Solange and Jay Z following a Met Gala after party earlier this month but little-to-no details were given about what sent Solange into a fit of rage. At the center of the more concrete theories on what led up to the Solange’s spazz session is Damon Dash’s ex-wife and former Roc-A-Fella inter Rachel Roy. StyleBlazer recently caught up with former Roc-A-Fella videographer Arthur Alston who was employed during the companies early days and gave some interesting insight on what was really going on back then between Jay Z, Rachel, Dame, and Aaliyah before also weighing about Solange and Beyonce. Check out a little of what he had to say below: How did you initially get in the door at Roc-A-Fella? With Dame, he saw one of my film projects and was impressed with my work. So he hired me. How did Rachel Roy initially get in the door at Roc-A-Fella? She was an intern at Roc-A-Wear and then she started dating Dame and… kind of, you know, became his eyes and ears. I guess she was inspired to be a designer and she got the opportunity by dating him. Was it common for the female employees to date the men there? Yes. Did you ever see a non-professional relationship between Rachel Roy and Jay Z while she was with Dame? Never. I don’t believe that [the rumors] to be true. This is the first time I’m hearing it. I know that Rachel has been with Dame for a long time. She was even pregnant when Aaliyah was his girl. So she’s been around for a while. So Rachel was in a position where –she started off as an intern– Dame was attracted to her and started assisting him. She got to be hands-on with the lines because being that she was dating him, he brought her into his business structure. She learned a lot about the business and Dame taught her as well. Arthur also went into detail about whether or not he witnessed a non-professional relationship between Rachel and Jay AFTER her divorce from Dame, what really set Solange off in the elevator and gave a VERY surprising answer to the million dollar question of whether or not Jay Z dated Aaliyah before, after or during her relationship with Dame. I think Kate is very good at…hmmmm– how do I put it? She’s engaging. She comes to the set prepared to work, in a good mood, engages her client, and she looks at herself as a business. To more expand on that thought, what I’m trying to say is: after she got herself into Sports Illustrated, she wasted no time.” Carol on Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne: “I can’t really be the judge of whether or not today’s girls live up to being supermodels. Back in the day, it was about the wide variety of clients you had, the number of days you worked, the number of covers you had. For today’s girls it’s about how much money you make and the number of Twitter followers you have! What I actually mean is, the criteria has changed. According to Rolling Out: Marlo Hampton and NeNe Leakes just can’t seem to stop talking about each other. Hampton is now dishing on her ex-friend via a blog post. As previously reported, both ladies feuded on Twitter over next Sunday’s episode that will show them arguing at a local event. Leakes threatened legal action against Hampton who apparently almost came to blows with the star. Furthermore, NeNe recently penned a BravoTV blog and accused her former bridesmaid of being an opportunist who befriended her nemesis Kenya Moore for camera time. “Did you see the opportunist that keeps coming around? wrote Leakes. “Did you see my friend just sit there and indirectly support this B.S.? I have worked with a lot of women over the years and the one thing that it has taught me is that life is like an elevator — on your way up, you have to let people off!” she added.
