Founder Of Louisiana African-American Museum Found Dead In Trunk Of Car

Source: The Washington Post / Getty The founder of an African-American Museum in Baton Rouge, LA has been found dead in the trunk of a car three miles from her home. Sadie Roberts-Joseph , 75, was mysteriously found Friday (July 12)  CNN reports. Her cause of death is still unknown. She founded the Odell S. Williams Now and Then African American Museum in 2001 where many events are held including an annual Juneteenth celebration. Roberts-Joseph had also founded her own nonprofit,  Community Against Drugs and Violence,  which was dedicated to making the Baton Rouge streets safer for children. “Ms. Sadie was a tireless advocate of peace in the community,” the Baton Rouge police department said in a Facebook post. “Ms. Sadie is a treasure to our community, she will be missed by BRPD and her loss will be felt in the community she served.” Sadie Roberts-Joseph, 75, an activist and founder of an African-American museum in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was found dead in the trunk of a car. Melyssa Ford Says She Contemplated Suicide After Car Accident

Source: Marsaili McGrath / Getty Melyssa Ford is still recovering from her life threatening car accident that took a significant toll on her physical and emotional health. The 42-year-old, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and massive concussion, opened up about the difficult recovery process,  including thr nightmares she has. “It comes back in dreams—the sounds of metal scraping on the pavement, which is one of the most horrible sounds in the world,” she told Essence. The accident also worsened her depression and led to her contemplating suicide. “It was the most frightening experience of my entire life because I truly could not see tomorrow. Email Submit Along with battling depression,  Ford was also dealing with the physical recovery from the accident, which was brutal. “I had to walk with a walker for about a month. I just could not right myself or stand on my own. Lying down felt like I was being submerged in water. It was this weird sensation of almost dry drowning, which is an awful feeling.” Ford also suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on her brain. While recovering mentally and physically, Ford found her way back into the gym. While Hussle’s family hasn’t publicly spoken against Emani’s mother, Tanisha Foster, it’s pretty clear that they don’t deem her fit to raise Emani. While Foster has filed a petition for guardianship, Hussle’s sister and other members of the family have asked the court to grant them guardianship. The U.S. State Department has weighed in on the ordeal of the A$AP Mob star in a new statement. POLITICO reports : A State Department spokesperson said that the department is aware of the case and that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been briefed. Top officials at the department, including Robert O’Brien, the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, are also closely monitoring the situation and working to make sure the rapper is treated fairly. “There are certainly some facts about the arrest and detention that raise concerns,” the spokesperson said. “We expect all governments, including Sweden, to treat American citizens fairly and with respect. … We hope to see ASAP Rocky and his colleagues back on tour and reunited with friends and family soon.” Swedish prosecutors must decide by Friday whether to charge Rocky, who is being held in solitary confinement, or ask a court to let them hold him longer. Despite video evidence that shows Rocky and his crew did not initiate the altercation, Swedish officials are still struggling with how to approach the case under the legal system. — Photo: Getty
