Late last year, legendary singer Avril Lavigne was fending off rumors that she had died and been replaced by a clone . Now, people with wild theories are once again coming for her, but this time the accusations are a little less scifi . Avril is promoting her new music, and fans are accusing her of denying Jesus and selling her soul to the devil. Back in February, Avril Lavigne dropped her new track: “I Fell in Love with the Devil.” “I fell in love with the devil / And now I’m in trouble / I fell in love with the devil / I’m underneath his spell (ah),” the lyrics read. The lyrics continue: “Someone send me an angel / To lend me a halo / I fell in love with the devil / Please, save me from this hell.” “Angels and devils always fight over me (fight over me) / Take me to heaven, wake me up from this dream,” Avril sings. Her lyrics go on: “Even in sunlight a cloud shadows over me (shadow over me) / It’s now or never, wake me up from this dream.” Now, she is sharing photos believed to be either outtakes or behind-the-scenes glimpses at her music video. In the images, she wears long robes of black while standing in the woods. She is holding a truly massive cross clutched in her hands. To fans who have followed her since the early 2000s, she is looking every bit the gothic-chic look to which she aspires. And, for the record, she spoke out about he Christian faith, thanking God for her life during her Lyme disease battle several years ago. But Avril’s history and a common sense understanding that lyrics tend to be poetic rather than literal did not seem to influence some haters. “You need Jesus,” accused one follower, who noted that they also despise another recent song, “Head Above Water.” “God saved you and blessed you with another opportunity to choose,” the comment continued. “Now you have this crap? Man, what a shame.” “I’ve been a fan since you came out, [but] this is a turnoff,” the hater declared. “Get your soul right with Jesus.” “[He’s the] only one who can save you,” the former fan wrote. “Yet you hold his cross and blaspheme his name? I pray for your salvation.” “Are you Christian?” another follower demanded to know. “Or are you mocking of Jesus?” Oh boy. “I’ll [have] to unfollow you now,” another fan declared. “How can you fall in love with Devil when God created you with amazing talent, which made [you] so famous?” the way too serious follow asked. “Thank God for the blessings, not Devil,” the commenter concluded. “God, keep my head above water,” reads a quote from Avril’s other recent single. But clearly, that was not enough of a declaration for some of her followers. “God, keep my head above water…falls in love with the devil? Ummmm k. No, thanks,” wrote another goofy hater. The comment continued: “He’s not someone to be playing with. But you do you.” Well that last part was kind of nice, even if they were being sarcastic. “Still think her ‘Head Above Water’ is about God?” asked one follower, hoping to be seen by fans. “Nope.” “You need Jesus, young lady,” admonished another. “So disappointing to see you playing with religious symbols,” another decried. That same comment added: “I’m a huge fan, but I don’t really, really like it because I am a Christian.” For the record, actual religious minorities who are marginalized see their religious symbols misued across almost all media. In this case, it’s not even clear that that’s happening. It’s a Christian woman with a cross. “A lot of you guys are saying about how Avril is making fun of God and making satanic references by this song and photo,” a defender observed. “The metaphor, ‘I fell in love with the devil,’ means that she fell in love with a bad person and she was in a toxic relationship with them,” the comment reasoned. “Another example of this is her song, ‘Birdie,'” the actual fan with reading comprehension wrote. The explanation continued: “She is basically saying that she fell in love with a bad person.” “And,” the defender adds. “She is praying to God to help her manage and break free when she says, ‘Someone send me an angel.'” “So don’t comment s–t before you actually listen to and understand the song,” the fan concluded.
We have an update on the troubling Amber Portwood situation. As you very likely know by now, the Teen Mom OG star was arrested early in the morning of July 5 after she allegedly attacked Andrew Glennon. Making matters even more troubling and worrisome? Glennon was holding the couple's one-year old son, James, in his hands at the time. Pretty scary stuff all around, as Amber was booked on a FELONY charge of domestic violence. For the latest on what is going on with Portwood, along with what she allegedly did to Glennon, scroll down and click around… 1. What Do We Know About This Arrest? Portwood was taken into custody by Indiana police around 6 a.m. last Friday. 2. Did She Really Assault Glennon? Yes. According to the official police report, Andrew sent a text message to 911 at 2:14 a.m. that read simply “I need help. My life and my son’s life is in danger.” 3. What Happened, Exactly? This is what we’ve now learned. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Ryan Salisbury is on record as saying an argument between Amber and Andrew commenced around 2 a.m. 4. This is What Amber is Accused of Doing: “Ms. Portwood grew increasingly agitated until she struck him with her shoe in the right side of his neck,” Salisbury wrote in the court document. 5. She Hit Andrew with a Shoe?!? Correct. And it sounds as if Portwood has confirmed this allegation as well. 6. Portwood Reportedly Admitted This “Ms. Portwood stated that she did indeed strike (her boyfriend) with a shoe,” Salisbury also wrote, adding: “But stated that ‘it was in the shoulder and I barely hit him.'” View Slideshow
Investing time in a TV show is no small task. As such, it's not too much to ask for a conclusion that feels not only warranted but bittersweet. Sadly, that thought was lost on the creative forces behind these shows because the final episodes sucked. Hard. Have a look below to find out just what we're talking about here. 1. Game of Thrones Daenerys went all Mad Queen, so her lover/nephew took it upon himself to end her reign. As Dany embraced Jon, he stabbed her. Drogon retaliated by not burning Jon to smithereens. Instead, the creature melted the Iron Throne, before picking up his mother’s corpse and flying away. Oh, and Bran who will always be remembered as that kid with white eyes who mumbled for eight seasons was made King. 2. True Blood Sookie killed Bill because it hurt him that she couldn’t live a normal life or something. She moved on with some random dude several years later and seemed happier than she’s ever been. It was like the previous seven seasons did not exist. Slap in the face? Totally. 3. How I Met Your Mother The whole show was about a dude telling his kids how he met their mother. After meeting the said mother, she was killed off in the series finale. In essence, the previous nine seasons were a waste. Even Barney and Robin didn’t get their happy ending. AWFUL. 4. Dexter Dexter bumped off his sister, left his son to be raised by a serial killer. The biggest kicker? Dexter became a lumberjack. We could argue that he could put his knife skills to good use, but the finale was utter nonsense. Even worse, some fans are still calling for a revival. Just leave Dexter to play with his wood. Pun intended. 5. Lost Lost was a groundbreaking series that kept viewers glued to the screen for six whole seasons. Early into the show’s second season, fans started to wonder whether the characters were dead and stuck in limbo. That was vehemently denied by everyone associated with the show. So, you can imagine how viewers felt when the series finale confirmed our heroes were, indeed, dead. 6. Gossip Girl On paper, the series finale was great. Chuck and Blair got married, and Dan and Serena got married. Shippers got their wishes, but the fundamental issue with the final installment was that Dan was revealed to be Gossip Girl. Candice Swanepoel is a weird one. She is hot when she does Victoria’s Secret….but whenever she does anything outside of Victoria’s Secret, it ends up being what I consider a disaster or a mess or just awkward. It is like she can’t handle anything but Victoria’s Secret. I can assume she’s an early model of the VS-Bot they created in an underground lab somewhere, so that they don’t have to deal with actual models, and they didn’t program her AI to be believable outside of the underwear modeling task at hand….because the now old, washed up, but once hottest VS thing…out there trying to reinvent herself or branch out is too little too late.
