Now for one of his more in-depth interviews the Miami DJ turned Hip-Hop mogul sat down with OG Hip-Hop journalist Elliott Wilson at the Apollo theater for the latest installment of CRWN. Sitting in front of a large crowd in Harlem World the two men discussed everything from Nipsey Hussle’s legacy to working with Jay-Z and Beyoncé to how the birth of his son Asahd impacted his life. And while you may not have thought about B-girls or B-boys since the ’80s and ’90s, breakdancing is still very much a scene in many major cities across the U.S. — and internationally — and so is the style that goes along with it. This past weekend we were invited to Houston for the finale of Red Bull’s BC One All Star Tour , and as much as we were entranced with the popping, locking, and breaking on the dance floor, we were equally enamored with the B-girl style we witnessed on the ladies as they battled one another in cyphers and the main competitions. This is the first year in the tour’s history that a National B-Girl Final was held, and on Saturday night B-Girl Macca of Atlanta (by way of Philly and Germany) was crowned the winner . Macca will go on to compete in the World Finals in Mumbai, India, on November 9, but while we wait to see her moves on the next leg of the competition, let’s get into the fashion that was on display this past weekend from some of our favorite dancers, hosts, and performers.
Source: Bruce Glikas / Getty Kevin Hunter Jr. Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting His Father TMZ is reporting that Wendy Williams ‘ 18-year-old son, Kevin Jr. , was arrested for assaulting his father. Reportedly, the incident went down at a store parking lot near the family home in New Jersey. Sources are saying they got into an argument over Kevin’s demand for spousal support in his divorce with Wendy Williams. Kevin Jr. defended his mom in the argument while his dad claimed Wendy was “brainwashing” their son against him. Their sources say it got physical when Kevin Sr. allegedly put his son in a headlock, and Kevin Jr. punched him in the nose…only to break the hold! According to TMZ’s sources, earlier in the evening, Wendy was the one that dropped Kevin Jr. off to her NJ marital home but did not stay. She promised to pick her son up later. In a surprise to him, his dad was in the home. Everything was cool until they took a trip to the store together around midnight. That’s when Kevin Sr. allegedly lectured Jr. on “carving his own path” without his mom’s “handouts” and things erupted. In a statement to TMZ, Kevin Sr. said he did not wish to press charged on his son over the incident. “I love my son very much and I will not be pursuing this matter legally. We get to talk to people faster, connect with people from all across the globe, and be as nosey as we want without the fear of being creepy. And don’t get me started on the abundant access we have to breaking news. The days of waiting for the 6 o’clock news to find out what happened to your favorite celebrity are long gone (thank goodness). But with many benefits comes many disadvantages. First of all, it’s hard to get anything done when you can avoid tedious tasks by just scrolling through the ‘gram all day. Not to mention the fact that it plays a major part in the development of our self esteem. Especially as millenials. There’s a quote by Steven Furtick that says: “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind the scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.” That one quote pretty much sums up all the drawbacks of social networking. Which also raises the question, how would life be if social media never existed? Folks took to Twitter to share how they think the game of life would be different if there were no Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. The #IfSocialMediaDidntExist hashtag is trippy to me because I remember a time when it actually didn't exist. It's kind of crazy how there are people alive right now who don't know what it was like. Lamar Odom’s hotly anticipated memoir From Darkness to Light hasn’t even been released yet, and already, the former NBA star is shocking the internet with one bombshell revelation after another. And not surprisingly, many of those big reveals have to do with his disastrous marriage to Khloe Kardashian. First, we learned that Lamar is still racked with regret over being all horny and coked up during his marriage . Shortly thereafter, dude went into specifics, revealing that he’s slept with over 2,000 women — and many of those conquests took place while he was still involved with Koko. Khloe probably hoped that her involvement in Lamar’s promotional campaign would end there. But unfortunately for her, it seems he saved some of the most shocking details for last. In one of the book’s most jaw-dropping passages to date, Odom recalls a night back in 2012 when he holed up in LA’s Hotel Roosevelt with lots of blow, lots of booze, and lots of strippers. (Lamar calls them strippers, but considering they followed a heavily intoxicated NBA player back to his hotel room, they were probably planning to do more than just dance with their clothes off.) His plans for the evening went awry when Khloe barged into the room accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner, and several family security guards. Khloe and Kris had apparently secured a key from the front desk by informing the clerk on duty that Lamar was a severe addict whose life was in danger. (No need to lie on that one.) According to Odom’s recollection, his then-wife and mother-in-law entered the room to find “naked girls everywhere.” Not surprisingly, Khloe and Kris not-so-politely suggested that the girls leave. When one of them offered counterargument, Khloe took the matter into her own hands. “Khloe’s beating the sh-t out of one of the girls who tried to protest,” he writes in the book. “She’s dropping vicious blows all over the top of this girl’s head.” We don’t usually condone violence, but a stripper who refused to leave after dude’s wife came barging in? Yeah, she needed a few vicious blows atop the head. As Radar Online points out , this is not the first time we’ve heard allegations of Khloe getting violent with one of Lamar’s sidepieces. In 2013, she was accused of assaulting a woman named Paulina Polonsky. Insiders say Lamar still hopes to win Khloe back — but we think it’s best for everyone if these two just let the relationship remain dead. Looks like it's another disastrous day in court for Jenelle Evans and David Eason. The couple arrived for day five of their custody battle Wednesday afternoon, and things got tense before they even entered the courthouse. And just like last week, David's infamous temper got the best of him at an inopportune time. It's been almost two weeks since CPS removed Jenelle and David's kids from their home, and thus far, the couple's efforts to convince a judge that they're capable and competent parents have proven woefully inadequate. In fact, it often seems that the Easons are digging themselves a deeper hole with each new day in court. Take a look at the latest developments: 1. A Deteriorating Situation Including Wednesday’s appearance, the Easons have now gone to court five times in an effort to regain custody of their children. 2. Bad Times on The Land Between them, Jenelle and David have five children, three of whom were living with them until May 13, when 2-year-old Ensley, 4-year-old Kaiser, and 11-year-old Maryssa were all removed from the home by CPS. 3. An Uphill Battle The Easons have been fighting hard to regain custody of their kids, but thus far, their efforts have been unsuccessful. 4. Going Downhill In fact, it sometimes seems they’re making their situation worse with each new hearing. 5. David Being David Today, for example, David got into a verbal altercation with a photographer outside the courthouse and threatened to have the man arrested. 6. Call Us Crazy … We’re gonna go out on a limb and guess that the photographer — who appears to have been working for TMZ, at least on a freelance basis — has a better understanding of the law in these cases than David. The Bordelons are back in the trailer for season 4 of Ava Duvernay’s “Queen Sugar.” In it, we see the family continuing their fight to save their farm and preserve their father’s legacy. Charley isn’t stopping her battle against the Landry family all while trying to ensure Micah’s safety and future. As for her sister Nova, she’s successfully published her memoir and while she goes on a book tour around the country sharing her family secrets and shaking things up at home, she unexpectedly encounters significant relationships from her past along the way. Inexplicably chocolatey panty melter Ralph Angel is managing fatherhood and yes, Darla’s around even though Ralph Angel is well aware that he’s not the biological father of his son, Blue. We’ll see a more level headed Ralph Angel this season, one who’s encouraged by an old friend to create opportunities for formerly incarcerated men like himself. Once again (our girl) Ava is continuing the series’ use of an all-female directing team. Season 4 directors will include Cheryl Dunye, who will also serve as producing director, Carmen Marrón, Numa Perrier, Heidi Saman, Bola Ogun, and Tchaiko Omawale. An elementary school teacher in Hillsborough, N.C., Kristen Thompson, has resigned after her colleagues reported her for threatening to shoot up Pathways Elementary School according to Fox8 . Thompson has bee charged with communicating a threat of mass violence by the Orange County Sheriff’s office: “This situation is being handled by law enforcement with the safety of our students and school staff as our utmost concern. Meanwhile, this situation is also being dealt with by school leadership as a personnel issue as well as a safety one. As such, the principal and other administrators are strictly forbidden by law from sharing information about the case. A threat of school violence is understandably unsettling for the community. Please know that the school and law enforcement are working together as a team to ensure the last few weeks of the school year are safe and productive for our students.” Jesus, Mary, and Joseph! It’s bad enough we have to worry about psychopaths murdering school kids, now we gotta worry about the damn teachers too?!?! SMH.
