From there, he went on to become a successful record producer by the ripe age of 16. Dupri is responsible for the success of legendary artists like Kris Kross, TLC, Xscape, Da Brat, Usher, Jagged Edge and Lil Bow Wow. His Atlanta based empire, So So Def, just reached its 25 year anniversary milestone and he was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Source: PYMCA / Getty While Tekashi 6ix9ine ‘s legal ordeal has somewhat cooled in recent weeks, he’s still facing a mounting number of charges despite his reported cooperation with authorities. The rapper born Daniel Hernandez also got a mild victory after he was allowed to bring back his former lead attorney after previously being told there were conflicts of interest. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a New York judge has determined 6ix9ine’s former lawyer, Lance Lazarro, can come back on as lead attorney for the rapper, as soon as the Tekashi signs off on it. Lazarro was taken off the case by the judge after concerns over conflict of interest because he previously represented two men who are co-defendants in the criminal case. The judge ruled that after reviewing all the evidence, 6ix9ine’s lawyer has shown there is no risk to the other co-defendants if he continues working for 6ix9ine. A hearing was scheduled for March 28 where the rapper will have to tell the judge he agrees. A meeting between Ms. Savage and her family was said to be under coordination with a report stating Kelly’s team ended talks on when and where that reunion could take place. TMZ reports : R. Kelly’s team is having a hard time arranging a meeting between Joycelyn Savage and her parents … because both sides can’t agree on a location. R. Kelly’s rep, Darrell Johnson, tells TMZ … Joycelyn is not opposed to meeting with her mom and dad, but she only wants to meet them in Chicago. We’re told the Savage family wants to meet Joycelyn at her grandmother’s home — which is outside the Windy City — because Grandma’s battling cancer. The Savages have made it clear from the beginning … they want to meet in a neutral location outside of Chicago. So, both sides remain at a standstill … even though it’s been two weeks since R. Kelly’s team agreed to set up a meeting between Joycelyn and her fam. In updates, The Savage family’s attorney Gerald Griggs stated the family was willing to work with to Ms. Savage’s request that the meeting takes place in Chicago but that they didn’t hear back from Kelly’s team until later. Apparently my “tweets” were not appropriate for the twitter community…. Despite having been on twitter since the beginning… Despite having no followers on twitter after bing on twitter since the beginning… Despite people posting the most insane shit all day, every day….from their assholes getting licked to racist shit… Yet I am the one targeted and suspended off the platform… This has happened to me on EVERY social media account, except twitter…until today. Which always is confusing to me, because everyone else posts way much fucking worse. The things I tweeted that got me suspended weren’t bad, weren’t racist, weren’t even funny. Maybe it’s cuz I said something about Trans being a myth….because they are still men with their dicks cut off….maybe it was asking that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez about her tits… Either way….it’s PG-13 commentary at best… I could be way worse, people are way worse…yet here I am suspended…. The world is fucking nuts. I’ve been a victim of censorship for so long and I’m not even that bad…It’s just weird when you look at what else is out there not getting censored, and you think “well why did I get deleted when people do way worse”…. I’ve always hated social media, I’ve always felt it was evil corporations censoring the thoughts of the people…not allowing original thought, disguised as this fun and stupid game…. But we are in a time where we don’t exist without social media, so the evil corporations can just erase you. Source: NurPhoto / Getty Man Gets Caught Trying To Smuggle An Orangutan Into His Country A Russian man was arrested at an airport in Bali after attempting to smuggle a drugged baby orangutan in his luggage out of the air hub and back to his home country. The tourist is now facing anywhere up to $7,000 in fines and a five year stay in prison. This past Friday night, Andrei Zhestkov was detained at Ngurah Rai International Airport before boarding his flight back to Russia, according to reports from The Independent . Officials found a 2-year-old orangutan fast asleep in a basket–evidently because he was drugged with allergy pills–after a routine security screening. The 27-year-old reportedly told officials that he had been given the protected primate by his friend, who purchased the animal for $3,000 at a street market. He explained that his friend is also from Russia and had apparently convinced him he could take the orangutan home to keep as a pet, according to reports from The Guardian. But that wasn’t all the wildlife this man had stored in his suitcase, authorities also discovered two geckos and five lizards in the man’s luggage. For all of these offenses, the would-be smuggler faces up to five years in prison and $7,000 in fines. “[Zhestkov] seemed prepared, like he was transporting a baby,” Bali conservation official I Ketut Catur Marbawa said of the scene, revealing that the Russian man had also packed baby formula and blankets. The baby orangutan is now being cared for by the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency, BBC reports . As noted by the World Wildlife Foundation , orangutans are a critically endangered species with a few more than 100,000 known to be remaining across the globe.

As college acceptance letters continue to roll in for many, a 16-year-old from Dallas has been selected by some of the nation’s most prestigious law schools to continue her education, Black News reported. Schlitz—who was homeschooled—graduated from high school at 13-years-old. She then went on to take courses at Tarrant County College and also furthered her studies at Texas Woman’s University. After receiving her bachelor’s degree this Spring she will pursue her law degree at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. The Dallas-based institution is one of nine schools that accepted Schlitz and is recognized as one of the top 50 law schools in the country. Among the other schools that accepted her were the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Howard University, Texas Southern University, and others. Her family recognized that she was gifted at an early age. After Schlitz underwent intelligence tests and performed well, her parents decided it was best for her to be homeschooled. Not only would it give her the opportunity to learn at her own accelerated pace, but they wouldn’t have to keep her in an educational setting where she didn’t feel challenged. Schlitz initially wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and pursue a career in medicine, but witnessing all of the inequality in our country motivated her to want to become a lawyer. “It is my hope that I can bring my passion for addressing education equity issues, and help facilitate a program that focuses on the legal advocacy needs of underserved students and their families in accessing gifted education programs,” she wrote in a piece for Better Make Room . “The lack of access to these programs helps promote stereotypes and keeps students of color in our K-12 schools locked in an education system that views them as the problem instead of the solution.” Aside from making her mark in law, she plans on creating an organization that empowers children to help them reach their full potential. Earlier this year Schlitz and her mother Dr. Myiesha Taylor released a book titled The Homeschool Alternative which highlights how homeschooling is beneficial for Black children.
