Source: Michael Rowe / Netflix Jason Weaver Has Tracy Shooting Her Shot On Her “Strong Black Lead” Podcast We all loved Jason Weaver as Young Michael Jackson in “The Jacksons: An American Dream,”Brandy’s brother on “Thea” and the first singing voice of Simba in “The Lion King” as well as Marcus in “Smart Guy” (one of the few people who can say they took Beyonce to prom) so we were pleased to see him as a guest on this week’s episode of the Netflix “Strong Black Lead” podcast… Apparently Tracy was pleased as punch too because we’ve never seen her FLIRT like this! Check out the podcast below where he discusses how Sir Elton John helped him get cast as the singing voice of Simba in “The Lion King,” his nervousness working with a young Beyonce and taking her to prom on “Smart Guy” and shooting a film with the Academy Award winning Coen brothers when they let him sneak away from set to record “One Call Away” with Chingy (he also had to to fight to get his credit on that song)! Kelly’s “Spirit” Reportedly Told Him To Do Gayle King Interview After Robert Kelly ‘s telling interview with Gayle King only made matters much, much worse for the accused child molester, we’ve all been wondering why ON EARTH he decided to sit for that chat in the first place. It turns out, his mind was telling him no…but his spirit told him YEeeeEeeeS. …But seriously. His spirit told him to do it, this according to TMZ ‘s “sources:” “R. Kelly sat down with Gayle King because he is in constant touch with his “spirit” and tends to listen to it more than the people around him. He also said he felt he owed it to himself and his fans to break his silence and tell his side,” the site states. TMZ also states Kelly is unbothered by all the jokes on social media and how he’s been depicted… “After the interview aired last week, many viewers thought it was all an act, some felt he was having a mental breakdown and others used the emotional soundbites to make fun of Kelly on social media. But, we’re told R. Shook Ones: ‘Empire’ Cast And Crew Nervous About Shows Future In The Wake Of Jussie Smollett’s Legal Trouble

Source: FOX / Getty ‘Empire’ Cast And Crew Anxiously Await News Of Season Six Renewal Fox hasn’t renewed Empire for season six and the cast and crew are anxious about their future paychecks according to what production sources have told TMZ . Word is that the folks who have been working on Empire for years feel that they should have heard by now whether or not Fox is interested in continuing to fund the production. In fact, they expected to hear about the renewal two weeks ago. Crickets. Each season for the past 5 years Fox has renewed the show in January, months ahead of the finale. We can’t imagine that this is going to do good things for morale on set. Obviously, people feel like Jussie’s case will be a major factor in the network’s decision. “Jamal” has already been cut from this season’s final two episodes. Even if Empire does return for season six, it looks like Jussie may be done for good. The suits at Fox aren’t really hype on him and the cast and crew perhaps even less so. Guess we’ll just have to see how everything plays out. Oh, the drama. Smh.

The Compassionate Carters: Beyoncé And Jay-Z To Be Honored As LGBTQ Allies With GLAAD Vanguard Award

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty GLAAD To Honor Jay-Z And Beyoncé At Media Awards Beyoncé and Jay-Z are set to receive the Vanguard Award at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards for being allies to the LGBTQ community . According to a statement via the organization, GLAAD’s Vanguard Award is presented to people who “have made a significant difference promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.” It went on to say, “Beyoncé and Jay Z are longtime allies and supporters of the LGBTQ community who use their global platforms to share messages that inspire and change the world for the better.” GLAAD noted the work that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé have done throughout their careers on behalf of the LGBTQ community. They include instances like Beyoncé notably speaking out against North Carolina’s anti-LGBTQ “Bathroom Bill” in 2016, also posting a message in support of LGBTQ students after Trump withdrew Obama-era protections for transgender students the following year. Bey has also prominently included LGBTQ people in several of her music videos, along with showcasing transgender actress Laverne Cox in promos for her Ivy Park clothing line. As for her husband Jay-Z, the GLAAD Vanguard Award comes only one year after the rapper received the Special Recognition Award  for his song, “Smile,” in which his mother came out as a lesbian. Like Beyoncé, Hov has also made a point of prominently featuring LGBTQ people in his work, also supporting the passage of marriage equality. “Beyoncé and Jay Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “When Beyoncé and Jay Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear.” Previous winners of the GLAAD Vanguard Award include Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Demi Lovato, Whoopi Goldberg, and Britney Spears. The 2019 GLAAD Media Awards will be held in Los Angeles on March 28th.
