Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty After defeating the Los Angeles Rams in the recent Super Bowl LIII contest, the New England Patriots are bucking tradition at least in some part. Some Pats players are opting to skip the traditional visit to the White House, robbing President Donald Trump of a usually expected photo op. New York Daily News reports : It didn’t take long for members of the Patriots to start fielding the question that has become inevitable for champions: Will you visit Donald Trump’s White House? Some of them have already made it clear they won’t. Twins Devin and Jason McCourty told reporters on Monday that they would be skipping the trip if invited by the president. Devin was adamant about staying away, while Jason was more diplomatic at first. “I haven’t thought about it, but I highly doubt it,” he said. Then his brother prodded him a bit and Jason said there was almost no chance he would go. TMZ Sports reported that safety Duron Harmon, who is Black, will also skip the trip. — Photo: Getty

N ew Jersey Senator Cory Booker has announced his candidacy for president, joining what was expected to be a crowded field of people challenging Donald Trump for the White House. Booker, 43, made his announcement Friday morning, NBC News reported . “I believe that we can build a country where no one is forgotten, no one is left behind; where parents can put food on the table; where there are good paying jobs with good benefits in every neighborhood; where our criminal justice system keeps us safe, instead of shuffling more children into cages and coffins; where we see the faces of our leaders on television and feel pride, not shame,” he said. “It is not a matter of can we, it’s a matter of do we have the collective will, the American will? I believe we do. Together, we will channel our common pain back into our common purpose. Together, America, we will rise.” Booker’s announcement came about a week after California Sen. Kamala Harris threw her presidential hat in the ring and said she would be running for the White House. Trump and Booker have been taking shots at each other for years now. But it was perhaps Booker’s role on the Senate Judiciary Committee that may have compelled him most to run for president after he saw firsthand the types of judges Trump has been pushing to be confirmed. While he has always been a prominent voice in the Senate, Booker raised his political profile significantly during the Senate confirmation hearing for Brett Kavanaugh , who was nominated by Trump and ultimately confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice despite a damning sexual abuse scandal that resurfaced from his past. Booker was also behind the introduction and Senate passing of the landmark legislation last year to finally outlaw lynching. Booker, Harris and Republican Sen. Tim Scott introduced the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act of 2018 in June. The bill called for a life sentence for those found guilty on federal anti-lynching charges. After helping to draft the legislation in June, Booker criticized Congress for taking so long—even after the civil rights movement—to pass anti-lynching legislation. “It’s a travesty that despite repeated attempts to do so, Congress still hasn’t put anti-lynching legislation on the books. This bill will right historical wrongs by acknowledging our country’s stained past and codifying into law our commitment to abolishing this shameful practice,” he said in a statement. Source: CBS Photo Archive/Contributor / Getty Tamar Braxton Says Her Boyfriend Used To Only Date White Women Tamar Braxton’s boo apparently had a preference for women who looked strikingly different than her. While continuing to be the highlight of “Celebrity Big Brother”, Tay Tay told her former almost fight partner Lo Lo Jones that her boo a.k.a. “T’Challa” had a preference for white women before they dated. Mind you, Tamar said something similar about her ex-husband and noted he “went for blondes” before her. “I met T’Challa and now it’s a wrap again. But he didn’t date Black women, which is crazy,” said Tamar in a clip seen on MadameNoire . “He did not date Black women. It’s like, I’m attracted to men who don’t like Black women. Vince neither, remember that? Vince either. […] “All white girls or others.” Tay also added that her bae, who hails from Nigeria, changed her mind about marriage. “When me and Vince split up I thought I would never get married again. I didn’t want to go through that again. It was a lot. I just never thought…I’m really grateful about it.” While we still haven’t seen Tamar’s Wakandan King, she recently talked about her King with Wendy Williams who noted that he has dreads and a “really nice body.” Tay also said her man’s more than a snack he’s a “lunchable” and a Harvard businessman who she wants to have babies with. If you haven’t been watching Tamar on “Celebrity Big Brother” you’re seriously missing out, she was recently named fan favorite for her antics. See more Tamar on CBB on the flip.
As we reported last fall, Alaskan Bush People was renewed for Season 9 . That ninth season now has a premiere date. And it’s sooner than you might think. Take a look: According to The Discovery Channel, no actual release date has been officially announced for Alaskan Bush People . But that doesn’t mean that a date hasn’t been set. They just haven’t chosen to reveal it yet. However, TV Insider has reported that the captivating reality series will begin airing again on Sunday, March 3. Three new episodes will begin airing at 8pm on that date, the report says. Take note that we’re reporting this at the end of January, right before the shortest month of the year. If this report holds true, you’ll be seeing Alaskan Bush People within 32 days. The landscape that you see here in this landscape photo snapped by 16-year-old Rain Brown is not of Alaska, but of Washington. Handling the family’s transition from living in both Alaska and Beverly Hills to living in rural Washington was only part of last season’s struggle. The entire family adjusted to their new life, but most of everyone’s attention was on family matriarch Ami Brown. Ami had survived a lengthy cancer battle — one that was widely expected to claim her life in 2017. But Ami is still around — and continuing to be regularly screened for the cancer’s resurgence. And she was not the only member of the family whose personal ups and downs captured the attention of fans. In November, Matt Brown checked out of rehab after 30 days. This time, he is committed to remaining sober. He is reportedly making use of meetings, a sober coach, and the emotional support of his family. This was his second time in rehab, but the first was years ago. Matt explained that he relapsed during his mother’s cancer battle. Almost all substance abuse is some sort of coping mechanism. We are so glad that Matt is taking these steps to secure his health. Noah Brown will welcom a new Alaskan Bush baby with his wife, Rhain Aisha. Their due date is this spring. Noah was sometimes seen as the family “black sheep” by fans, but they were overjoyed to see him tie the knot. He and Rhain married after a not-too-lengthy engagement. Hey, when you know, you know. Rain shared this photo some time ago of herself third-wheeling with her brother, Gabe Brown, and his girlfriend. Raquell Rose and Rain are besties, so she’s of course happy that the two of them are so happy together. In October, it was reported that Gabe Brown may marry Raquell . Neither of them ever made an actual announcement. However, perhaps inspired by Noah’s nuptials (that’s just fan speculation, though), Gabe reportedly filed for a marriage license late last year. We do not yet know their current status, but we are of course very happy for them. And that brings us to Rain, who turned 16 years old last November. Though the youngest in the family (until Rhain gives birth), Rain is the family’s de facto spokesperson. Rain’s social media presence boasts nearly 100,000 Instagram followers. She has been open about discussing her emotional highs and lows. “Don’t let the clouds fool you,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself in the sunlight. “The sun’s always there” “Stay strong,” she tagged her post. “Stay happy.” Rain has been very open with fans and followers about her battle with depression. As recently as Wednesday morning, she took to Instagram to deliver an update. “Some days are so bad all you can do is lay in bed,” she confesses. “On those days,” Rain writes. “It helps to have an angel by your side.” “Love you mr PT bardum,” she praises her cat. “You’re my strength.” “It’s okay not to be okay,” she tagged the post. She is absolutely right. We cannot wait to catch up with the whole family on March 3! In the mean time, we look forward to seeing a trailer in the next few weeks. When the Celebrity Big Brother live feeds opened on Tuesday night, many eagle-eyed viewers noticed a glaring omission to the cast: Anthony Scaramucci. The man who lasted ten or eleven days inside the White House had seemingly left the Big Brother house in just six days. While he resurfaced at an event in Switzerland, Friday’s episode of the CBS juggernaut was all about filling in the blanks. It turns out, Anthony was always supposed to stay in the house for a handful of days. He appeared via video message in a President Trump-like set-up and revealed the new to his houseguests. “I’m actually not a Big Brother houseguest, but I am part of a Big Brother twist” the former White House Director of Communications revealed at the top of the hour. “Just like I left my mark in Washington, I’m going to leave my mark on the Big Brother game. First off: From this moment on, I’m out of the house.” “That means you’re all one step closer to the quarter-million dollar prize. The Big Brother house is just like my experience in Washington; you get judged quickly before people know who you really are — and you don’t get a second chance.” “So I’m giving the current nominees a second chance at safety.” With that, we learned that there was one more veto competition for the week, giving Jonathan and Tom a second chance to get off the block. Before that, Ryan had to nominate another houseguest to take the Mooch’s place on the block. He chose Kandi Burruss, citing the fact that their personalities “don’t really mesh.” Yes, really, and Kandi was pissed. Ryan immediately followed up her nomination by trying to hug her, but she was not about all the fakery, so she told the Olympian to keep his distance from her. Kato won the special POV, meaning the nominations would remain the same, or they could be changed in some way. Kato went with saving his ally, Tom, and Ryan was forced to nominate another houseguest. He went with Joey Lawrence this time. Dina votes to evict: Kandi Kato votes to evict: Jonathan Tamar votes to evict: Jonathan Ricky votes to evict: Jonathan Tom votes to evict: Jonathan Lolo votes to evict: Jonathan Natalie votes to evict: Jonathan Jonathan was the first houseguest evicted. “It went really well, Julie,” Jonathan complained, adding: “Don’t team up with a gold medalist as soon as you enter the house. It’ll put a target on your back.” As for Julie, well she dragged Jonathan for trying to save Dina and not telling his allies. What are your thoughts on the first eviction? Hit the comments below. Source: Splash / Splash News The oppressive, cruel, and occasionally demonic attributes of Whiteness came out in full-force this week thanks to well…White people. The most viral moment involved an indigenous elder, Nathan Phillips , who had to stand inches away from the moist MAGA breath of a bratty teen. According to Today , Phillips was on the grounds of the Lincoln Memorial for the Indigenous People’s March. Meanwhile, the March For Life anti-abortion rally was going on around the same time, and it was full of MAGA hat teens from the Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky. Nick Sandmann was the teen who confronted Phillips face-to-face in the now viral video. According to him, some Black Hebrew Israelites were taunting him and his classmates before the confrontation with Phillips took place. The high school students tried to drown out the Hebrew Israelites with school chants, but naturally that didn’t ease tensions. So according to CNN , Phillips stood between the students and the Hebrew Israelites, banging his drum and singing a Native American protest song. According to Phillips, this is when Sandmann stepped in his face and wouldn’t let him move. Phillips says Sandmann’s classmates proceeded to mock his song, and he even said he heard teens yelling “build that wall.” You can watch the video for yourself below. The incident was, once again, another symbol of White oppression. It wasn’t just Phillips against Sandmann, it was a small indigenous group against a crowd of young White MAGA supporters. White teens seized the opportunity to take up space on land that was acquired with the onslaught of indigenous people. The Make America Great Again hats were the cherry on top for how White people can flaunt their dominance even if they’re not consciously doing so. Thus, Phillip’s only form of defense and integrity in the moment was to continue banging his drum and singing his protest song. A subtle clapback, yet powerful one. Hit the next pages to peep some more noteworthy (and hilarious) clapbacks to the ignant White folks.
