Back in July, Amber Portwood was arrested on domestic violence charges . The Teen Mom OG star allegedly brandished a machete and attacked her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, while he was holding the couple's 1-year-old son. Despite Amber's long history of violent behavior, she was defended by numerous supporters, including her co-stars, who repeatedly stated that they did not believe the allegations. Now, however, an audio recording obtained by the YouTube vlog Without a Crystal Ball proves definitively that Amber was in the habit of physically threatening Andrew and engaging in all manner of verbal abuse. We wonder what her castmates will have to say now … Take a look: 1. House of Horrors There was a time when Amber and Andrew seemed to enjoy a decently happy relationship. But after their July 4 blowout, Andrew revealed that he lived in fear of her from the start. 2. Find out below. 1. Archie – Riverdale As the lead character on Riverdale, you would expect him to be likable. Instead, he doesn’t follow rules, complains when other people don’t follow rules, and walks about with half-naked at the best of times. 2. Morgan – The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead Morgan served little purpose to the narrative on The Walking Dead, so the decision to send him to the spinoff was silly. Morgan loves to give monologues that make very little sense. He’s the worst. 3. Jo – Grey’s Anatomy In the most recent season, the character of Jo was fleshed out. But for the seasons she was part of the show before that, there was a grand total of zero character development. It’s too late in the game for us to care about her. 4. Paige – Pretty Little Liars Paige was in a relationship with Emily at one point. Before that? She pushed Emily’s head underwater when her obsession with being the better swimmer took over. Yikes. It makes sense then that fans hated the character. 5. Noah – The Affair He has a superiority complex that makes him think that cheating on his wife was acceptable. He complains about his ex-wife when she ignores his calls. He’s quite simply a horrid human being. 6. Matt – The Vampire Diaries Matt was too bland to care about. There’s a haunting quote from Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing that’s stuck with me since I read the book a couple of years ago. It shared the experience of Esi, a young Ghanaian woman, unknowingly being sold into America’s race-based, life-long, unimaginably cruel system of slavery. “They took them out into the light. The scent of ocean water hit her nose. The taste of salt clung to her throat. The soldiers marched them down to an open door that led to sand and water, and they all began to walk out onto it. Before Esi left, the one called Governor looked at her and smiled. It was a kind smile, pitying, but true. But for the rest of her life Esi would see a smile on a white face and remember the one the soldier gave her before taking her to his quarters, how white men smiling just meant more evil was coming with the next wave.” It speaks to the righteous and rightful distrust we have of White people and White men in particular. Their track record hasn’t been great. And throughout the course of our history on this land and around the world, even well-intentioned actions from White folk have ultimately resulted in unspeakable pain and heartache for Black women. For that reason, the conscious among us approach the actions of White people with some level of caution. I was reminded of this phenomena when my friend sent me a post that’s currently being circulated around social media. Here we are centuries after slavery and White men are still using the labor of Black women to their benefit. He described Black women as being “less selfish” and “having his best interest” at heart. And then there’s the pain evoked by “y’all raised us even when we refused to let you read.” Damn. This White man didn’t tell any lies. But his truths are still hurtful. Perhaps he perceives Black women as being less selfish because historically we’ve had to take care of White masters, White children, Black men and Black children at the expense of ourselves. Instead of continuing to perpetuate that cycle, as a real ally or advocate for these women he should be looking for ways that these women can invest in themselves. The same can be said for them having his best interest at heart. At the expense of what? To their personal lives have to suffer so his business can grow? Since he understands the role Black women played during slavery, does he also understand that the we were conditioned to put the needs of White men, financial, emotional and sexual, ahead of our own for survival and not through our own free will? For as much as this White man seems to understand the dynamics of slavery, he doesn’t seem to be doing enough to change them. And this is the reason why I told my friend I didn’t have a problem with this idea. While I wouldn’t argue that it’s progressive in any way, I think that this White man is doing what White men in this country and every other capitalist in this country has done for centuries, making money. I say this all the time and I continue to repeat it mostly because so many of life’s occurrences remind us of the fact that while legalized slavery has ended, we’ve taken the model into our businesses. Think about, in most businesses, the CEO or the person at the top does the least work but makes the most money. This person may have very little knowledge or ability to run the day-to-day operations of the business; yet they make decisions that directly impact the lives of their workers. And as the White man suggested employees, while offered very little or nothing at all in terms of equity, are expected to be invested in the business’ success while they are expendable. People have literally died overworking themselves for companies that will replace them within a week of their funeral—if not before. So while the White man’s sentiments aren’t progressive or kind-hearted, his business is no different than the companies many of us work for. And as we fight for representation and employment in various industries, I can’t help but believe that this White man is doing this. In the short term, these Black women are employed and hopefully being appropriately compensated. I pray that the work environment is fair and that they’re able to take the skills they’ve learned and developed there to companies, perhaps in the future, that have work models that are more favorable than what we have today. Source: Trinette Reed / Getty When Tina Lewis went to Rose Nails Salon in Houston all she wanted was to be pampered with a much-needed pedicure. Instead, she claims she was met with fatphobia and denied services because of her weight. According to KTRK , Lewis accused the salon of telling her they couldn’t help her because she was “too big” to fit in their pedicure chairs. Lewis was shocked. “She was like, ‘What did she just say?’…I said, ‘Yes, mama, she just said that to me,’” she told the KTRK. “I was like, ‘Can I get a pedicure? And what chair do I sit in?’ And (the employee) was like, the chairs were not big enough for me to sit in. And I was like, ‘Are you serious?’” Marie Bui , an employee of the salon, told the news station that it was not her intention to hurt or offend Lewis. “I said, ‘I’m sorry I cannot serve you because my spa chair is very small,’” she said, adding that a prior customer had damaged a chair because of her weight. Apparently, the salon alleges that they cannot afford to replace these chairs if they continue to get broken. Meanwhile, Lewis ain’t trying to hear that noise. “It was, like, very disrespectful. To me, I felt like it was discrimination.” Lews is also clear: She won’t be going back there again…and honestly, we don’t blame her. This isn’t the first time a woman has spoken out about this type of treatment at a nail salon. Last September, a South Carolina woman claimed that she was turned away from getting her nails done because she weighed 250 pounds, PEOPLE reported . Listen, it’s 2019 and the majority of folks are not a size 6. A recent study found that the average size of women in America is between 16-18. So it’s time for the beauty industry to get with the picture and adapt to reality. Source: Justin Yoast / EyeEm / Getty An extremely disturbing video made its way to the Internet showing a White kid beating a Black boy in the locker room of a Florida middle school. The clip shows the kid holding him down and hitting him repeatedly while other students watch. An adult was nowhere to be found, according to the clip. The mother of the Black kid, Lauren Springfield made a Facebook post about the incident that has since gone viral. “Yesterday, my son was attacked. In a violent, malicious manner while in the school locker room at Blake Academy in Polk County,” she started. “The school nurse called us first and let us know our son was in the nurses office and could not give us any additional information. I immediately left my office and went to the school – not one school administrator contacted me on the way to the school. I got to the school to find a welt on my son’s forehead and back of head, a cut above his eye brow and bruising all around his eye.” Springfield said it wasn’t until she received videos from parents of a high school student that she realized her son was brutally attacked. “You hear the kids not only cursing but encouraging the attack and not stepping in to stop what was happening,” Springfield wrote. She said she asked the school administration how they would respond to the video and according to her, their response was “We can’t tell you.” Springfield went on to say, “This could have ended much differently, our child has one kidney and after getting kneed several times this could have resulted in permanent damage.” Springfield said she went to the courthouse in an attempt to get a restraining order against the kids. However, the judge argued that since the attack allegedly didn’t happen multiple times, Springfield would not be granted the protection for her son. “It only takes one hit for a child to die,” wrote Springfield. “How many more times would you like this to happen to our child or any other child? Throughout the entire attack this little boy laughed and smiled – and you think he won’t do it again?” Springfield also brought attention to the racial aspect of the violence. “I can guarantee you had this been a group of black students on a lone white student we would be having a completely different conversation. I am disheartened, I am tired, scared for my son and completely enraged.” Springfield finished off by saying some policy changes should be made to protect children. One Polk County school board member, Billy Townsend, responded to Springfield’s demands, writing on Facebook : “1) We as a district vastly overinterpret privacy rules so that a victim’s family receives little or no information about how we are protecting/preventing any further harm for their child. So even when a serious investigation is underway, as I believe it is here, the victim’s family doesn’t really perceive it. 2) I do not understand why we would send the child’s family to get a court injunction, rather than provide more robust engagement at the school/district level. Both of these seem like policy issues that we need to address quickly as a School Board.” Eventually, charges were brought against one of the students. The police and the superintendent of Polk County Public Schools held a press conference where they said that students were disciplined “on the school side” while one of the boys was charged with misdemeanor simple battery and has been suspended for 10 days.
