I Shelve You Phillip Morris

For the third and perhaps final time, the Jim Carrey-Ewan McGregor caper-comedy/romance I Love You Phillip Morris has been bumped from theatrical release. Upstart distributor Consolidated Pictures Group, which spent the winter pushing the film from Feb. 14 to March 26 to April 30, now has scrapped the latter date with no replacement announced. As if you’d believe them anyway. Expect either a buyer who passed on the film at Sundance ’09 to cheaply take it off CPG’ s hands or to see it on DVD. Will advise… [ LAT ]

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Evan Lysacek Sets the Gold Standard

Evan Lysacek is not interested in silver medals. Having already conquered the Winter Olympics in figure skating, the 24-year-old is looking to pair his gold medal with a silver Dancing with the Stars disco ball. If last night is any indication, he’s the man to beat. He and Anna Trebunskaya bested the field by a considerable margin and got a standing O for the quickstep. Also cementing their status as contenders this season were Nicole Scherzinger, the first two weeks’ top scorer , and Erin Andrews, who showed grace and poise. Despite threats from a crazy stalker , Erin is no quitter, and she and Maksim Chmerkovskiy tied Nicole and Derek Hough for Monday’s second-highest scores. At the bottom of the heap were Buzz Aldrin, predictably, and Kate Gosselin, who didn’t exactly make Tony Dovolani look like Babe Ruth with his predictions . Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya stood (and sat) alone.

Katy Perry Hearts Jersey Shore, GTL

Jersey Shore only aired 10 episodes this winter, but that was enough to lure in millions of fans, make celebrities of the cast and introduce plenty of new vocabulary words, slang terminology and acronyms into the pop culture lexicon. Case in point: The lovely Katy Perry was seen headed from the gym to Fred Segal’s in W. Hollywood over the weekend wearing a shirt proclaiming simply GTL. GTL, for those unfamiliar with Jersey Shore quotes , stands for Gym, Tan, Laundry. As in the daily routine of some of the Garden State guidos we grew to love. While Vinny Guadagnino said that he prefers BPB (basketball, pool, beach), he was sadly outnumbered among the male cast members, and the term stuck. Here’s Katy giving props to DJ Pauly D and The Situation : GTL : Katy Perry knocked off the first part, but somehow we don’t imagine she went tanning after this photo was taken. Laundry? Maybe. Stay tuned for more updates .

Eminem’s New Music Will ‘Surprise A Lot Of People,’ Just Blaze Says

Producer also talks about the possibility of reuniting with Jay-Z. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Adam Stewart and Akshay Bhansali Eminem Photo: Universal It seems like the only time Just Blaze isn’t in the sky these days is when he’s working. Blaze has been DJing at places like the Winter Music Conference when he isn’t busy traveling back and forth and producing for people such as Jay Electronica and Eminem . “I’m working on Eminem’s album still, so I’ve gotta hurry up and get back to Detroit,” Just said. He was fresh off the turntables at club Grand Central during the Fool’s Gold party in Miami, where he spun a two-hour house set. “I’ve been back and forth — Detroit, New York, Detroit, New York, Miami, back to Detroit — for like the past two and a half weeks. [The album], it’s getting there, but we still got a lot of work. So I wish I could stay [in Miami] longer.” Blaze says he’s sworn not to reveal too much about Eminem’s album, but he’s already calling it a classic, one of the ultimate efforts in Slim Shady’s storied catalog. “As far as what’s going on in Detroit, a lot of good music is being made,” Blaze said of Em. “He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.” Other than Em, Blaze has Jay Electronica on his plate, but what about the super-producer linking back with the other Jay, as in Young Hova? Just says he talked to the Jiggaman right before the U.S. leg of the Blueprint 3 tour ended. “Maybe,” he answered with a sly grin about whether or not he and rap’s G.O.A.T. would collaborate again. “You never know.” Related Artists Eminem

Paul Oakenfold On Working With Madonna, Brittany Murphy

Veteran DJ/producer has Cee-Lo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder lined up for next LP, Pop Killer. By Akshay Bhansali Madonna Photo: PictureGroup/ Evan Agostini When MTV News caught up with British DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold last weekend in Miami, he was right where we expected him to be: poolside at the Raleigh Hotel, both a fan and an artist amid the many revelers and dance-music industry types making their annual pilgrimage to the Winter Music Conference. Even for a dance-music icon, Oakenfold has seen and done it all: He’s toured around the world and worked with U2, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, New Order and dozens of other stars. He’s scored films and video games; he’s held club residencies in England, Spain and now Las Vegas. Still, with such a rich past, it was pleasing to hear Oakenfold say how exciting dance music is these days. “The great thing about Madonna, when I produced ‘Celebration,’ she understood that the way forward was through electronic music,” Oakenfold said. “Hats off to her for realizing that. With the rock singers, we’ve always been involved in some respect, because a lot of rock records have been remixed and done really well in Europe and the rest of the world. It’s more the urban world now is knocking on the DJ’s door.” For proof of the latter statement, look no further than the work of French DJ/Producer David Guetta, 1634864 who’s recently worked with the Black Eyed Peas (“I Gotta Feeling”), Akon (“Sexy Chick”), Kid Cudi (“Memories”), and Kelly Rowland (“When Love Takes Over”). For Oakenfold, it’s all par for the course. Over the years he’s worked on songs with Nelly Furtado, Pharrell Williams, Ice Cube and even the late, legendary writer Hunter S. Thompson. And he’s got a similar team of A-listers on his forthcoming album, Pop Killer. “I have some interesting people, actually,” he said. “From the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Ryan Tedder, the lead singer of OneRepublic, and Cee-Lo, who’s in Gnarls Barkley.” Not appearing on the album but certainly another notable name that the producer worked with is the late actress Brittany Murphy , whose Oakenfold-helmed dance hit “Faster Kill Pussycat” (from the producer’s 2006 Lively Mind LP) was a showcase for the actress’ largely overlooked talent as a singer. “That song did really well,” Oakenfold said. “It’s a shame, because she was not only a wonderful person but a fantastic vocalist. She was very open to embracing someone else’s material, and she was the first actress I had worked with in terms of directing and producing a piece of music. She was very open-minded. The world never got to hear how good of a singer she really was.” Related Videos Sights And Sounds From Winter Music Conference 2010 Related Artists Madonna Paul Oakenfold

Apolo Anton Ohno Sets Slime World Record At Kids’ Choice Awards

Olympic speed skater catapults into a pool of green goo during Nickelodeon awards show. By Amy Wilkinson Apolo Ohno breaks the world slime record at the 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards Photo: Charley Gallay/KCA2010/Getty Images As an Olympic speed skater, Apolo Anton Ohno is no stranger to setting records. The eight-time medalist became the Winter Olympics’ most decorated athlete during the 2010 games. But Ohno set a new gold standard at Saturday’s (March 27) 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards , catapulting into the slime world-record books. For the show’s grand finale, the “Dancing With the Stars” champ strapped himself into the Slime Slingshot, a human catapult that would sling him 60 yards in the air, through a goal post and into a small pool of gooey, green slime. Giving the thumbs-up sign to Slime Stunt Correspondent John Cena, Ohno “flew” through the air, cannon-balling into the waiting vat. Submerged for several seconds, Ohno rose, splashing slime on the onlookers surrounding the pool. Following the stunt, Ohno gave this detailed play-by-play: “Right here, I start peeing my pants,” he joked, reliving climbing into the catapult. “Then I’m thinking, ‘I can see my house from here.’ Finally, I’m thinking, ‘Would it have killed them to heat up the slime pool a little bit?’ ” Ohno was one of several famous faces to be doused in Nickelodeon’s signature green slime, including “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone, singer Katy Perry and “Date Night” co-stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell. Despite his messy appearance, Ohno tweeted, “That was fun … KCA is the place to be!!” following the ceremony. What did you think of Apolo’s stunt? Let us know in the comments below! Will.I.Am, David Guetta, DJ Tiesto Rock Ultra Music Festival At WMC 2010

LMFAO, Will.I.Am guest during Guetta’s set. By Akshay Bhansali DJ Tiesto Photo: MTV News MIAMI — Dance music’s biggest weekend in America, kicked off with a series of powerful performances at Day 1 of the Ultra Music Festival (held during the Winter Music Conference), at Miami’s oceanfront Bicentennial Park. With a multitude of stages (and even a Heineken-inspired dome), the weekend’s line-up is probably UMC’s largest and most star-studded grouping yet, boasting over 200 DJs from around the world and the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Armin van Buuren, DJ Tiesto, and David Guetta. Over at the UMF Ibiza Stage, both Kaskade and Will.I.Am dropped new material for fans — Kaskade from his forthcoming Dynasty LP and Will.I.Am for undetermined releases. “I think it’s important to come out to WMC to test out the new beats you’ve been making — rockin’ the crowds, learning from the crowds,” Will told MTV News Friday night, just before he took the stage again to join a close friend. Indeed, Black Eyed Peas collaborator and dance-music titan put on what seemed like a hip-hop collab fest, being joined by many friends on the Ultra main stage during the course of his set. Whipping the crowd into a frenzy with his thumping “Gettin’ Over” before transitioning into “One Love.” Will jumped onstage for “On the Dancefloor,” then Guetta charged into a series of his hits, including the Lil Jon/ DJ Chuckie remix of “Sexy Chick” and BEP’s “I Gotta Feeling.” He ended up closing his set with a premiere of a new song called “Getting Over You” (featuring LMFAO), and sure enough, the party rock duo, who are currently on tour with BEP, joined Guetta on stage for his finale. Closing out the night at Bicentennial Park was Dutch trance heavyweight DJ Tiesto , who had the thousands of fans in attendance clapping in unison for the majority of his nearly two-hour-long set. With pyrotechnics blasting, the crowd jumped to its feet, singing along with his Nelly Furtado collaboration “Who Wants To Be Alone” and other hits from Tiesto’s catalog, including “Escape Me,” I Will Be Here” and “Love Comes Again.” Related Videos Sights And Sounds From Winter Music Conference 2010 Related Artists Will.I.Am DJ Tiesto David Guetta

Cube Guys Hype Up WMC 2010 Crowd With ‘Scarface’ Sample, Coolio Remix

Their song ‘Scarcube,’ which samples Al Pacino lines from the movie, is a contender for this year’s WMC anthem. By Adam Stewart The Cube Guys Photo: MTV News The Cube Guys embrace an unmistakable sound that incorporates an eclectic blend of tribal house, electro house, fidget house and many other subgrenes that has consistently kept fans on their toes. The Italian duo first broke into the electronic-music scene back at the Winter Music Conference in 2005 with their club smash “Electro” and have been going strong ever since. WMC has been a perennial playground for the pair, who spent some time with MTV News after their set this year at Gansevoort Beach at the Stereo Recordings Playa party along with Chus and Ceballos . The Cube Guys, made up of Roberto Biffi and Luca Provera, dropped a monster anthem to start their set in front of an enthusiastic, bikini-clad crowd. The song, called “Scarcube,” is a strong contender for the WMC track of 2010 . The deeply sinister electro house track samples iconic Al Pacino lines from the film “Scarface.” “That’s a new track from us. It’s crazy, because we cut up all the Pacino voices, and we then built all of the tracks on top of it,” Provera recalled. “Everywhere we spin it, the people go crazy. They ask, ‘What is that? What is that? When is it coming out?’ We’re so surprised about it, but we love it, and we hope that it will have a good future. ‘Scarface’ is the Miami movie, so why not?” The fans packed 20 deep in front of the stage and fully embraced what is sure to become a Miami anthem. They then seamlessly segued into another new release, a huge remix of Coolio’s “Fantastic Voyage,” giving new life to the song that went double-platinum back in 1994 by putting their signature spin on the classic vocal and incorporating electronic horns and a driving beat. “We officially landed the remix of Coolio with Universal Records, so we’re really happy about it!” Provera said.
