Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham: Baby on the Way!

Months ago on The Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr. asked Lauren Burnham to accept his final rose. (Well, sort of.) Now, Arie Luyendyk Jr. has asked Lauren Burnham to accept something else: His DNA! In the form of a life growing inside of Burnham’s womb! That’s right, folks, Arie and Lauren are expecting a child together! The reality stars confirmed this blessed piece of news themselves to Us Weekly, with Lauren telling the tabloid for its latest issue: “I kind of had a feeling that I might be pregnant. So my friend insisted on bringing a pregnancy test over. “Arie came out with the test in his hand and tears in his eyes. He was like, ‘You’re pregnant!’” This is both very exciting for Arie and Lauren and also very surprising: few couples that meet and fall in love on The Bachelor remain together, let alone procreate together. But perhaps drama is somehow the key to happiness. Jason Mesnick and Molly Mesnick had a baby and are very happily married to this day… after the latter dumped the woman he chose on his season’s finale and asked Molly out on the After the Rose special. Similarly, Luyendyk Jr. and Burnham were at the center of a controversial story line on Season 20. After Arie proposed to Becca Kufrin on his finale, he visited her several weeks later and – in front of an ABC cameraman – broke up with her in favor of Burnham. The pair got engaged on the After the Final Rose special in March of 2016 and are set to exchange vows in January of 2019 in Hawaii. “I’ve made some bad decisions but the best decision was running back to you,” Arie told Lauren during the proposal, adding: “I can’t imagine a life without you. … I truly believe you are my soulmate. I’m ready to face this life with you and all that comes with it. The good, and the bad. I love you so much.” Very sweet words, no doubt. They were just clouded a bit at the time by the fact that Arie had only recently proposed to Becca before doing the same with Lauren. (Becca, of course, went on to become The Bachelorette and is currently engaged herself, waiting to have a baby . So everyone has ended up happy here!) Said Burnham ths summer during a visit to The View, in regard to an eventual marriage: “We’re just really happy with each other, and we vibe well together. We’re best friends, so we’re just ready for that next step.” Speaking to Us Weekly, meanwhile, Arie confirmed that he and Lauren weren’t really thinking of starting a family just yet. But these things happen sometimes. “We weren’t trying, but we are so excited. It’s going to be a whole new chapter in our lives,” he said. And the guy is clearly in love. View Slideshow: The Bachelor Secrets Exposed: Affairs, Herpes & More! This is what he wrote on Instagram last week, as a caption to a photo of himself and Lauren: I can’t sleep… the house is quiet, you’re next to me. I can hear your soft breath and I wonder what you’re dreaming about. I closed my eyes tonight and our future played like a beautiful romance with flashes of our wedding, travels, our children and a house full of friends, family and love. I woke up and you were wrapped in my arms, our pups on the floor next to us. Now I lay awake wanting to fast forward our lives but in the same breath push pause and not let these eyes close for too long because this is what true love feels like.

Nah, My Loves: Mo’Nique Continues To Cape For Racist Roseanne Barr Because She’s Never Said “Kill Black People” [Video]

Fortunata/Splash News/Theo Wargo/Getty Images for NBC Mo’Nique Defends Roseanne Barr From Racist Accusations Yet Again In an interview with the Chicago Tribune , Mo’Nique TRIPLED down on her fervent support of Trump supporter, racist tweeter, and Nazi cookie lover Roseanne Barr. Despite the fact that Roseanne literally never speaks on Mo’Nique or her personal causes in any interview she ever gives, Mo felt it necessary to throw her support and defense behind the disgraced comedienne once again. When talking about her former nightly talk show on BET, Mo’Nique broached the topic of her “sister in comedy” and explained that she could never turn her back on Roseanne, claiming that she didn’t hesitate to appear on the show while many Black entertainers declined because her show was “too black.” And when she showed up, when the cameras weren’t rolling, she said to me: “Listen, you’re the real deal. Don’t let them use you up and take advantage of you, because they will. Don’t you let them do that to you.” Now, a racist woman ain’t gonna say that to me. Q: But her tweets were blatantly racist. A: I’m gonna say this: We’re comedians. And I know her. And what she thought was funny, as a comedian, that’s what it was. The interviewer then challenged her on the way she was quick to chastise Charlamagne for “spreading poison” during her now-infamous Breakfast Club interview …but doesn’t seem to want to condemn something as poisonous as racist ‘jokes’ that fall flat. To this, Mo’Nique responded: A: When we talked privately — and we’ve talked privately a lot — she’ll break her jokes down and I’ll know where they’re coming from. She’s like, “Listen, you know how I grew up, so how could I start making fun of anybody? I’m not trying to hurt anybody.”. Has she ever said, “Kill black people”? Q: I don’t think that’s the line someone has to cross in order for their words to be racist. A: And I can’t argue with what you’re saying — I can’t, baby! But here’s what I know about this woman: She was behind the scenes fighting for the black (concert) promoters. Nobody knows that. She’s behind the scenes trying to push a documentary about Malcolm X with a brother who’s a Muslim. So when I know about this these things personally, did my sista say some things in poor taste? Some people could say yes. But what I won’t label her is a racist. When she sends me a DM that says, “My love, we will rise again like the Phoenix” — a racist woman wouldn’t do that, would she? Hm…we certainly didn’t see Roseanne picking up her sword and shield for Mo’Nique when she was on her “pay me more as a Black female comedian” tour against Netflix …but hey, she’s keeping her same energy in defense of her “sister.” Do you think she has a point? Chime In: Serena Williams’ GQ Cover Faces Backlash Because “Woman” Is In Quotations

SplashNews.com Twitter Speaks Their Mind On Monday, Serena Williams was announced as GQ ‘s Woman of the Year and some people aren’t too hype about the cover that was unveiled. Instead of putting “Woman of the Year” in plain text, “Man of the Year” is printed with “Man” crossed out and replaced with “Woman” in quotations. Announcing GQ's Men (and Woman) of the Year 2018: @michaelb4jordan , @henrygolding , @jonahhill , and @serenawilliams (featuring handwriting by @virgilabloh ) https://t.co/EpG3lKCJ3r #GQMOTY pic.twitter.com/6MgczSxSpq — GQ Magazine (@GQMagazine) November 12, 2018 The quoted “Woman” was handwritten by designer and Williams collaborator Virgil Abloh. Abloh, the man behind Off-White and Louis Vuitton, designed Serena’s US Open tutu dress and he often uses quotation marks on his Off-White designs. However, some people on Twitter didn’t grasp this context and they believed the quotations used for Serena were insensitive to ridicule she’s received in the past. Serena has constantly been labeled a man or unhuman-like for her athletic skills and body type. Someone I follow pointed out that @GQMagazine decided to put woman in quotes on Serena's cover and I too am offended and disgusted knowing the gender slights and digs people still throw at @serenawilliams . https://t.co/um9oYV6Pr0 — I'm That Type Of Guy (@Marrrrcussss) November 12, 2018 They really put “Woman” in quotes in reference to Serena and no one at the table thought it was a bad idea. I'm speechless. — King Wizard (@ChrisTheHuman_) November 12, 2018   Some folks even understood the Virgil reference but still were offended. Everyone knows Virgil. We know his designs. We get the quotations. Doesn’t mean putting quotes around woman makes it any less insensitive esp. considering the masculinization of Serena and black women in general! — Kae (@akaeleehb) November 13, 2018 One Twitter user even pointed out that Gal Godot was named Woman of the Year by GQ last year, but her “Woman” wasn’t in quotation marks. Serena is the magazine’s sole Woman of the Year, which doesn’t make matters any better. The Men of the Year include Michael B. Jordan, Henry Golding,  and Jonah Hill.  Serena has yet to speak publically on the cover, but she’s been candid in the past about ridicule she’s faced about her gender. Last year, in a reddit post , Williams said: “I’ve been called man because I appeared outwardly strong. It has been said that I use drugs (No, I have always had far too much integrity to behave dishonestly in order to gain an advantage). It has been said I don’t belong in Women’s sports — that I belong in Men’s — because I look stronger than many other women do. (No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it).” She addressed the issue some more back in May when she told Harper’s Bazaar , “People would say I was born a guy, all because of my arms, or because I’m strong. I was different to Venus: She was thin and tall and beautiful, and I am strong and muscular — and beautiful, but, you know, it was just totally different.” What do you think of the GQ cover? Too much or is it just another designer’s signature stamp?

H ampton University has hit a major milestone in the realm of sports. The Virginia-based institution has made history by becoming the first historically Black college and university to add a women’s varsity triathlon team to their list of sports programs, HBCU Gameday reported. #Hampton University to be first HBCU to participate in women’s triathlon at varsity level https://t.co/HyuXayaoRD pic.twitter.com/1EJOVO5aST — WGNT CW 27 (@WGNTCW27) October 31, 2018 The program—which is slated to kick off in Fall 2019—will be the institution’s 19th varsity sport, the news outlet writes. The school was able to create the team through the help of a $225,000 grant that was issued by the USA Triathlon Foundation. The funds will go toward hiring a coach to lead the team, player scholarships, travel and other expenses. “Hampton University’s addition of a varsity women’s triathlon program is cause for celebration for many reasons,” Rocky Harris , CEO, USA Triathlon, said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “USA Triathlon is in the process of working with HBCUs on a variety of upcoming initiatives to increase diversity in triathlon at the youth and collegiate level, and this is an important step in that journey. The academic and athletic administration at Hampton have proven to be leaders by committing to this unique opportunity for female student-athletes, who will shape the future of our sport for years to come.” Leaders at Hampton believe that the addition of the team will be instrumental in creating pathways for Black women athletes to pursue careers in sports and will contribute to diversifying a sport where they are underrepresented. “Once again, just like in sailing and lacrosse, we are pioneering something in sports and specifically for women. This is not the first time that Hampton has led, and others will follow,” Hampton University president William R. Harvey told the Washington Post . Diversity in the sport is needed. According to a report released by Triathlon Business International , Black people make up 0.5% of triathlon athletes. When asked why she shared that part of her life with the public, Obama stressed that she wanted for people to understand the work that couples need to do in order to stay together. “For those young people out there who think that marriage is supposed to be easy. And marriage counseling for us was one of those ways that we learned to talk out our differences,” she said. “I want them to know that Michelle and Barack Obama who have a phenomenal marriage and who love each other, we work on our marriage, and we get help with our marriage when we need it.” In addition, she described falling in love with Mr Obama one summer night in Chicago. “As soon as I allowed myself to feel anything for Barack,” she writes, “the feelings came rushing – a toppling blast of lust, gratitude, fulfillment, wonder.” Swoon. Source: Mark Wilson / Getty Mrs. Obama also had some choice words about President Trump in her book, stressing that she will never forgive him for starting the Birther Movement, which questioned the citizenship of her husband, the first Black president of the United States. “The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed,” she wrote. “What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him.” People took to Twitter to commend Michelle Obama for being so candid and open about her life. “One of the worst things we do as women is not share the truth about our bodies, and how they work.” I am so grateful Black women, like Michelle Obama and Serena Williams, are being so honest about the barriers many people face to become parents. https://t.co/0Co4bZ82Qa — Evette Dionne (@freeblackgirl) November 9, 2018 Michelle Obama. SMH: Baltimore High School Student Caught On Camera Sucker Punching Elderly Teacher For “Getting Smart” With Her [Video]

Student Caught On Camera Punching Teacher In Class Clips like these help us understand why that California teacher decided to deliver the smackdown to an aggressively disrespectful and threatening student last week. According to WMAR ABC News Baltimore , a female student at Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore City got into a verbal disagreement with a teacher and was caught on tape sucker-punching the woman in the jaw in a now-viral clip. In the video, the young woman can be heard accusing the teacher of “getting smart” with her as another student attempts to calm her down. Next, the girl pushes the other student away and punches her teacher on the left side of her face, seemingly attempting to knock the woman unconscious. Still, the teacher exhibited grace and patience, calmly following the student out of the room and it appears attempting to reason with her. Several social media users who have posted the video claim that the teacher was fresh back in the classroom after a leave of absence to have surgical cancer treatment. SMH. Her Democratic challenger Ben McAdams was leading 51.4 percent to Love’s 48.6 percent by early Wednesday morning. McAdams delayed declaring victory, waiting instead for officials to count ballots sent by mail. The Utah lawmaker was among just a handful of Black Republicans in Congress, which includes South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott . Love and Scott “stood beside Trump in support,” according to the Washington Post . But they also distanced themselves from the president when he made controversial statements in support of white supremacists violence in Charlottesville. And Love, a Haitian-American, also had issues with the president when he identified Haiti as one of the “sh**hole countries” Black countries. The congresswoman has been embroiled in a campaign finance scandal which likely contributed to her tight race. She was in hot water with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) over her team improperly raising more than a million dollars for a primary election that was never expected to happen. Love has fought hard to retain her congressional seat—including playing the race card . She went on Fox News radio in September and accused the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee of targeting her seat because she’s Black. “They do not like the fact that I am a Black female Republican doing everything I possibly can to talk about the issues that help people go from the lowest common denominator up,” Love said in the interview. Ariana Grande: Named Woman of the Year By Billboard!

Ariana Grande capped off what’s already been a legendary year by writing a new song to her exes . She was the one with Big Dick Energy the whole time. Billboard recognizes that, and has chosen Ari as their Woman of the Year. It’s a huge deal. Billboard has announced that Ariana Grande is their 2018 Billboard Woman of the Year. “Billboard’s 13th annual Women In Music event will take place December 6 in a return to New York City,” Billboard shared in a statement. And they have already decided which music superstar they’ll be honoring at the event. It was probably an easy decision to reach. “And,” the statement says. “We can now officially announce Ariana Grande as our 2018 Billboard Woman of the Year.” To quote Kim Kardashian: it’s what she deserves . “2018 has been huge for Grande,” the statement continues. Billboard says: “As the pop superstar launched Top 40 hits like ‘God Is A Woman,’ ‘Breathin,’ and ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ under the Billboard Hot 100.” That announcement is a great reminder that “Goodnight N Go” is vastly underappreciated and maybe the most underrated song of her album. Ariana had that success with singles “while seeing her album, Sweetener , hit #1 on the Billboard 200.” “And earn the largest streaming week ever for a pop album by a female artist upon its release,” Billboard raves. “Grande’s remarkable year transcended the charts,” Billboard points out. That is an understatement. “As she used her voice to support worthwhile causes, as well,” the statement notes. “She participated in March For Our Lives in support for gun control legislation,” Billboard continues. “And,” the statement says. “Has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness.” This was a very timely thing to mention, because Ariana had just spoken on the subject. Billboard cites that, just the day before their announcement, Ariana had responded to a fan tweet with a powerful message. “In all honesty,” Ariana wrote to a fan. “Therapy has saved my life so many times.” “If you’re afraid to ask for help, don’t be,” she encourages her followers. Ariana promises: “You don’t have to be in constant pain and you can process trauma.” Having both witnessed and survived a sickening terrorist attack just last year, Ariana knows the impact of trauma. “i’ve got a lot of work to do,” Ariana admits. “But it’s a start to even be aware that it’s possible.” Billboard was clearly impressed. And Ariana has done so much more. “Grande also helped organize the One Love Manchester benefit concert in response to aid the victims of the Manchester arena bombing,” the statement mentions. That benefit was one “which was broadcast to 50 countries and raised more than $23 million.” “With this year’s honor,” Billboard continues. “Grande now joins the likes of past Woman of the Year recipients: Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.” Those music legends make for some very fine company. Billboard concludes: “The ceremony and red carpet pre-show will be broadcast live on Twitter from 7 to 10pm Eastern on December 6.” Obviously, awards are only as valued as those who receive them. Ariana is at the absolute top of her industry. She’s a living legend and she has been for years. Her latest single, “Thank You, Next” surpassed expectations and smashed records on its own. We are thankfully every day that we have the privilege of living at the same time as unsurpassed talents like Ariana.
