According to reports, early Friday morning, a 47-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were found dead after an apparent jump from a Manhattan building. This is a grim story, no matter what transpired before they plummeted to their deaths below. And now multiple news outlets believe that they have identified the woman as a former Playboy centerfold model. First, what we know with relative certainty. According to Lieutenant John Grimpel, a 47-year-old woman appears to have jumped from the 25th floor of the Gotham Hotel in Manhattan. Police indicate that this occurred at around 8:15 AM on Friday morning. Reports say that the two bodies were found on the second-floor landing of the Gotham Hotel’s courtyard. Police were not initially willing to confirm or deny the identities of the deceased, for obvious reasons. One, identifying them may have been challenging if normal identifiers were not available. Two, as is always important, police needed to notify the family. There’s no good way to learn that you have lost a loved one, but learning from the news would have to be one of the worst. Multiple media outlets, including The New York Post and NBC News 4 , are reporting that this woman was Stephanie Adams. Stephanie Adams was a former Playboy model. In fact, she was the November centerfold in 1992. Which would make the 7-year-old boy Vincent, her son. She shared Vincent with her estranged husband, Charles Nicolai, the owner of of Wall Street Chiropractic & Wellness. Staff at that practice have declined to comment. Reports say that Stephanie and Nicolai were engaged in a fierce court battle over custody of their son. Things were allegedly so contentious between them that handovers of Vincent took place at a NYPD precinct, allegedly to “prevent violence” from occurring. Stephanie filed for divorce from Nicolai in 2017, and she was currently seeking child support from him. As is often the case during divorces, she owed money to her attorneys. Adding to this, The New York Post reports that Stephanie had become distraught because she would not be able to take her son on a trip to Europe over the summer. She and her estranged husband fought over this and, ultimately, a judge sided with Nicolai — and ordered Stephanie to surrender Vincent’s passport. Stephanie Adams, who claims to be a descendant of John Quincy Adams and who entered the modeling profession at age 16, had a history of both civil rights advocacy and of troubled lawsuits. But none of this explains what could have led her and her son to plunge to their tragic and premature deaths on Friday morning. According The Oklahoman , on April 29, 23-year-old Shaliyah Toombs , who was seven months pregnant, messaged her mother Twyla Taylor, “They gonna kill me mom help me.” Her mother immediately filed a missing person’s report with the police. Court documents state that Vasquez arrived at Toombs’ home around 1 a.m. on the day she vanished. Not long after, Finkbeiner and Harjo also showed up, accusing Toombs of stealing a backpack in Harjo’s car, which Shaliyah had borrowed earlier. Apparently, the backpack contained a hard drive belonging to Finkbeiner’s employer. From there, it’s believed the trio took Shaliyah by gunpoint and drove her around for hours until arriving at an area of farmland, The Oklahoman noted. At roughly 4:50am, the mother of two texted her own mother begging for help. Then, Finkbeiner choked the 23-year-old for “about 20 minutes” and then Harjo instructed Vasquez to “finish her off,” authorities allege in court. It’s believed that after killing her, Vasquez took the car, ditched it and reported to the police that he had a found a body in an abandoned truck. According to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, it was his friend of 15 years Jonathan Todd Jackson. Apparently, he was charged with one count of attempted extortion and one count of extortion by threatening letter on Wednesday. Jackson is reportedly being accused of gaining access to small parts in a couple of Hart’s films. If convicted, he faces up to four years in county jail for his crimes. Prosecutors are recommending that Todd’s bail be set at $100,000, CNN noted . “Jackson allegedly had a videotape of the actor with a woman in Las Vegas and then is accused of trying to sell the recording to numerous celebrity news websites, prosecutors said. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that Jonathan Todd Jackson, who is also known as Action Jackson, was arrested and charged with one count each of felony attempted extortion and extortion by threatening letter. A startling encounter in a Santa Monica parking lot turned into a hate crime investigation after an 80-year-old white man and an unidentified Black woman scuffled over a parking lot space on Tuesday evening. Enrique Conde , who captured the video on his phone, said he was pulling into a space in the parking lot of the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Campus when he heard Fredric Allan Shinerock screaming the N-word. In the video, you can hear and see the encounter between Shinerock and the woman. “You don’t belong (unintelligible)! Go back to South LA! Shut your f–king ugly, n—-r mouth. You’re a n—-r!” you can hear Shinerock saying. The camera also swings to show the woman walking up to Shinerock. A lone parking attendant lazily tries to hold the woman back, while another bystander yells at the woman to leave. “It was shocking to see that but, unfortunately, it’s not the first time I’ve seen a racial tirade over a parking space in Santa Monica,” Conde said in an interview with the Santa Monica Daily Press . “A lot of people come into work who are not from the area and you see that friction sometimes,” he continued. According to the New York Post , the two got into an argument over a parking space, after the woman, who is also a student, was parked over the line in one of the spaces. As she tried to correct her parking job, the man began thrusting hate speech towards her. Shinerock was questioned and cited by police, but walked away. KABC reports that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime. The woman was evaluated by paramedics but opted not to go to the hospital. College president Kathryn Jeffrey released the following statement in regards to the incident: “We will continue to do our utmost to uphold our commitment to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment.We will take immediate and evident action to reinforce to our students, college community, and guests that there is no room for hate at Santa Monica College.” The Santa Monica Police Department put out a call to the community in case anyone knows further details. They are asking to contact them at (310) 434-4300 and ask to speak to the sergeant on duty regarding case number 18-216, KABC reports.
