As you may have heard, Dean McDermott cheated on Tori Spelling with a woman named Emily Goodhand, and rather than suppressing the tabloid drama as most D-listers would, the couple went on to basically make careers out of having a crappy marriage. There were reality shows, book deals, tearful TV interviews…Basically, Dean’s affair was the best thing to happen to Tori’s career since being Aaron Spelling’s daughter. The whole thing was (briefly) so lucrative for the McDermotts that many wondered if Emily Goodhand was even a real person. By all accounts, Tori and Dean are once again broke , but the public seems to have lost interest in their sad sack routine, so it seems that these days they’re trying a different tack. The couple attended a party for celebrity wedding designer David Tutera over the weekend (Yes, apparently they still get invited to things.), and they stopped on the red carpet to gush about their marriage : “Our relationship is in the best place it’s ever been,” Dean told Entertainment Tonight . “I was just thinking about it in the car ride over here, about how grateful I am and how filled with gratitude I am that we’re still together, and my life is wonderful. “I have these wonderful babies with you. I have this wonderful life with you. I’m so grateful and happy.” Yes, Dean’s certainly laying it on thick. And apparently, Tori was not about to let herself be outdone: “It just gets better,” she told ET. “I think when you go into a relationship, at least for me, you have all these fairy tale expectations. What it should be or shouldn’t be, where it’s going to go and where it’s going to plateau. “You get to that point where [it’s like], ‘Wow, this is amazing’ on a different level of what I ever expected. “In our relationship, we’ve definitely had to, not start over, but rebirth the relationship as something that was new and kind of moving on towards the future. “By doing that, we’ve had this great, amazing rebirth of our relationship, and it’s more exciting each day.”” Look, if these two are really that happy, then we’re happy for them, but the whole thing kinda brings to mind that Facebook friend who’s always posting upbeat, inspirational memes, even though you know he’s entering his 8th year as a Subway sandwich artist, and he recently found out his long-term online relationship was an elaborate catfish job, but he still sends money because he enjoys the conversations.

Lauryn Hill Celebrates Her 40th Birthday Looks like a lot of celebs are celebrating birthdays this week. Lauryn Hill brought in her 40th with a bash thrown by her mom and brother, with some help from her oldest daughter over the weekend, and it was filled wall-to-wall with Lauryn’s family , friends, and associates. Lauryn shared some photos from the bash to her Facebook account earlier today, with the following caption: On May 26th My Mother and Brother hosted a beautiful birthday party for me in grand style. With the help of my daughter Selah, uncle Michael Hill, cousin Hakim Abdus-Sabur, friends Miriam Farrakhan and AJ Calloway, they were able to contact and invite many of my childhood friends and relatives, some of whom, I hadn’t seen for years. Since I’m usually the one throwing the party or hosting the event, I can’t begin to tell you what a joy it was to pile into this space ‘all old-school-like’ surrounded by family and friends both past and present. In some of these photos (probably most) I’m a hot and sweaty, sentimental mess, but elated! I was reminded of how rich and diverse the community of my youth was and continues to be. A special thank you to my Mother and Brother for putting this wonderful event together and all those who helped and of course, attended. Nearly 80 years after the original hit theaters, a sequel to It’s a Wonderful Life is reportedly in the works. According to Variety, the follow-up film will star Karolyn Grimes (who portrayed George Bailey’s daughter, Zuzu, in the 1946 classic) and be titled It’s A Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story . Grimes uttered the famously beloved line “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.” The new movie will find Karolyn actually portraying an angel and showing George’s grandson what the world would be like if he had never been born. “The storyline of the new film retains the spirit of the original – every life is important as long as you have friends,” screenwriter and producer Bob Farnsworth said. Adds Grimes: “The new film will retain the feeling of the original, and it simply must be shared. I’ve probably read close to 20 scripts over the years suggesting a sequel to It’s a Wonderful Life , but none of them were any good. The script by Bob Farnsworth and Martha Bolton was wonderful, and I wanted to be involved with his version of the film immediately.” So… are you excited for a sequel to It’s a Wonderful Life? Anyone who sent a note or a gift congratulating Kate Middleton and Prince William in the past month got a thank you note – and a royally cute one at that! The 31-year-olds are sending notes of thanks to the well-wishers who reached out following the birth of the Royal Baby, Prince George, on July 22. The image on the front of the card is one of the first Royal Baby photos , in which the family stood on the steps of the Lindo Wing after his birth. Kate Middleton is wearing her instantly-infamous cornflower blue and white polka dot Jenny Packham dress, cradling Prince George in her arms. Reads a note on the back of the card: “Their Royal Highnesses have been overwhelmed by the wonderful messages and gifts they have received and send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.” A spokesperson said they “are slowly going through a backlog” of all the warm wishes sent by members of the public, and cards will continue to be sent out. The duo also sent cards to those who congratulated them on their pregnancy late last year, and that card featured Kate in another Jenny Packham frock. Symmetry. And gracious beauty. Hopefully, more Prince George photos will be released and used on more Royal Family stationary … holiday cards, perhaps? Fingers crossed!
