It’s November 13, 2010 and about 4:00pm. I’m sitting front row in the Norfolk, VA Scope with about 200 other people. I’m at Justin’s soundcheck and having one of the best times of my life. I got to watch Justin tell jokes, give my friend’s (@kaylabdollar) little brother girl advice, answer questions from the fans (I got to ask one), and most importantly, be himself. I had such a fun time that day, I’d pay for it again and again. It was only about 35 minutes long, but it was an experience I’ll never forget. Fast forward to December 14, 2010. I was getting ready to leave my house for an orthodontist appointment and just so happened to check my DMs on twitter. I had a new message from the head-person at  www.bieberfever.com   saying that I had won meet & greet tickets to the Greensboro, NC concert the very next day! I couldn’t believe it. No, this wasn’t real, I mean c’mon, I never won anything. I remember my jaw dropping to the floor and my sister and mom freaking out wanting to know what had happened. I told my sister that we were going to be meeting Justin the very next day! We were so excited. The next day, we left school early and drove about 4 hours to Greensboro. We hurried and got to the arena so we wouldn’t be late. When we got there though, we found out we needed our tickets to enter the m&g. We had bought our tickets from an online site and the guy wasn’t supposed to be meeting us with them for another hour! We started freaking out, what if we didn’t get them in time? We wouldn’t meet Justin. We tried talking to workers and everything, my mom called the guy and he said he would hurry and come up there. But the clock was ticking and the M&G was getting closer. Finally the guy got there and went to the ticket window to get our tickets, then his credit card wouldn’t work! That’s when my sister (@hollieimer) and I REALLY started freaking out. Almost everyone had already entered for the M&G and we were sure we were gonna miss it. While we were standing there, Dan Kanter came out to get some family or friends and we talked for a minute, he was super nice! We waited for a little bit longer and finally we got our tickets! We rushed over to the line and a worker had to walk us down saying we were the very last people allowed in! We waited in line for about 20 minutes and finally it was our turn! A security guy told us we had to take a picture with a group of 4 so we had to be in it with 2 girls we didn’t know, and we didn’t get to stand next to Justin, but it was fun! We talked for a second, hugged, and then it was over. Even though both of my experiences were short, they were so fun and gave me a glimpse into the kind of person Justin really is. So in January 2011, a few friends & I came up with the idea of  www.onelesslonelyprom.com , a site to get Justin to go with me to my senior prom on May 19, 2012 . After seeing him be himself, without the cameras & paparazzi for the little time I did, I wanted the chance to really get to know him. I wanted to know Justin Bieber, the teenager. Not Justin Bieber, the world-wide superstar. I’ve spent countless hours making videos and tweeting as many people possible to get the word out and make this even a possibility . Justin should be able to have a normal night, and I feel like I could give him that with this. With the way his lifestyle is now, he won’t have the chance to go to his high school Senior Prom. This would be a great opportunity for both of us, giving him his prom and giving me the chance of knowing him on a personal level. A lot of people have shot this dream of mine down, but I learned, from Justin himself, to Never Say Never. I’ve worked so hard to make this happen, and I’m no where near giving up. I have less than a year to get the word to Justin, and I haven’t spent a day where I haven’t done SOMETHING to get the word out a little more! -@1lesslonelyprom Hey Justin Bieber, come to prom with me?  Continue reading here: It’s November 13, 2010 and about 4:00pm. Doug Lamborn on "Tar Baby" Comparison: My Bad!

Doug Lamborn is really sorry. When he referred to President Barack Obama’s economic policy as a “tar baby” this week, he meant to use the word “quagmire.” Hey, we’ve all been there, right? In a radio show interview over the weekend, the Colorado Congressman said: “Even if some people say, ‘Well the Republicans should have done this or they should have done that,’ they will hold the President responsible. Now, I don’t even want to have to be associated with him. It’s like touching a tar baby and you get it, you’re stuck, and you’re a part of the problem now and you can’t get away.” Dough Lamborn on Obama Lamborn has since sent a letter of apology to the President and his office released the following statement: The congressman was “attempting to tell a radio audience last week that the president’s policies have created an economic quagmire for the nation and are responsible for the dismal economic conditions our country faces. He regrets that he chose the phrase ‘tar baby,’ rather than the word ‘quagmire.’ The politician told The Denver Post : “I absolutely intended no offense, and if this is at all on his radar screen, I am sure that he will not take offense and he’ll be happy to accept my apology because he is a man of character.” Seriously, who even has the term “tar baby” in his vernacular these days?!?

20 Years Ago: Terminator 2: Judgment Day Exploded Into Theaters

He came back. On July 3, 1991, Terminator 2: Judgment Day arrived in theaters as naked as Arnold Schwarzenegger after time travel and came away with the then-biggest five-day opening in box office history. The James Cameron-directed film earned $54 million over its first five days of release, $3 million more than Tim Burton’s Batman grabbed in its first five days back in 1989. Said an anonymous theater owner to the New York Times at the time, “At virtually all our locations, we were selling out well in advance of showings, and the word-of-mouth buzz out there is just phenomenal.” Indeed it was: Terminator 2 went on to gross $204.8 million domestically, and over $500 million worldwide. All of which is to say: Happy anniversary to a cultural touchstone!

Tyler, The Creator Defends His Use Of Other F-Word

‘I have gay fans and they don’t really take it offensive,’ Odd Future frontman tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Matt Elias Tyler, the Creator Photo: MTV News Tyler, the Creator and his Odd Future cohorts have raised more than a few eyebrows on their way to rap notoriety. But while their followers praise the collective for their refreshing sound, as well as their renegade approach, some critics have argued that OF are pushing the boundaries of what should be acceptable in rap. On its website, Fader magazine analyzed Tyler’s Goblin album and counted 204 uses of the word “f—,” 68 of the word “bitch” and nine variations of “f–” or “f—-t,” an observation that has some asking whether the polarizing rapper is a misogynistic homophobe. We caught up with the OF frontman this week in Los Angeles and put the question to him. “Well, I have gay fans and they don’t really take it offensive, so I don’t know. If it offends you, it offends you,” Tyler told MTV News of his gay slurs. “If you call me a n—a, I really don’t care, but that’s just me, personally. Some people might take it the other way; I personally don’t give a sh–.” And there you have it. Tyler’s growing fanbase includes a host of major rappers who support the MC. In fact, during an interview with Sway, Eminem gave props to OFWGKTA. “I’ve heard enough to know that it feels like they’re pushing boundaries and buttons, and that’s definitely one of the things that I’m familiar with, especially when I first came out,” Eminem told MTV News on the set of Bad Meets Evil’s “Fast Lane” video in Detroit. “I love it; I love the fact that they’re doing that. And the dudes can rhyme.” Do you find Tyler’s lyrics offensive? Share your thoughts in the comments. Related Artists Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All

Kid Cudi Talks Growth, New Single And Quitting Drugs

‘I like myself better off drugs … it’s about becoming mature,’ Cudi tells MTV News about recording after giving up marijuana. By Rob Markman Kid Cudi Photo: MTV News Kid Cudi doesn’t care what you think about his music — he likes it and that’s that! Last week, Cudders dropped his new Dot Da Genius-produced single, “Perfect Is the Word,” and it was quite different from what some fans were used to getting from the Cleveland representative. “I’m very proud of it; it’s something that a year ago I wouldn’t have ever imagined that I’d be able to do. It’s different, I get that,” Cudi told MTV News while on the set of his HBO show, “How to Make It in America.” “Some people are going to get it, some people aren’t. That’s cool. I just don’t really give a f— who does and who doesn’t. I mean, I care about the people that do, because that means, alright cool, there some people who have an open mind, who are smart and who get art.” The “Day N Nite” star has been transcending the lines of rap music with each new release, and on his latest song, Cudi goes for a distinctively dark rock feel. He is especially proud of the fact that he was able to play the guitar on the track and deliver something worth recording. “It’s just some people who are very one-track minded. The world that I am coming from, hip-hop, is so regurgitated and repetitive that some people are used to that and they don’t want change, they don’t like change,” Cudi maintained. “And I get that, that’s cool. Luckily for me, I’m confident in myself as an artist where I can do what I want, and as long as I’m cool with it, I’m cool with it.” “Perfect Is the Word” is the first track from Cudi and Dot Da Genius’ upcoming Wizard album , and while the song is different, it isn’t the only change that the musician has exhibited this year. In February, the G.O.O.D. Music artist took to Twitter to announce that he was leaving the Dream On label, which he launched back in 2009 with partners Patrick “Plain Pat” Reynolds and producer Emile Haynie. He also assured fans that he was still with Kayne West’s G.O.O.D. Music. That wasn’t all, though: In April, Cudi revealed that he’d quit smoking marijuana on his Tumblr page. The rapper, who used to call himself the Lonely Stoner, now is experiencing a bit of backlash, but he remains undeterred and is pleased with his new material. “There were a lot of write-ups where people were just sh–ting on it and there were a lot of people who were like, ‘We liked you better when you were on drugs,’ ” he said with disappointment. “It’s kinda like, ‘Man, OK, well you weren’t a fan to begin with so f— you,’ and I like myself better off drugs. So it’s about me and it’s about evolving and it’s about change. It’s about becoming a man; it’s about becoming mature.” Ultimately, Kid Cudi just wants room to grow. “Ten years from now I’m going look at my discography and I’m gonna be proud of it,” he said. “I don’t want to be 10 years from now looking at my discography, like, ‘Man, I was a f—ing knucklehead when I made that.’ ” What do you think of Kid Cudi’s post-marijuana work so far? Smurfs Trailer: Smurf-ity Smurf Smurf, Also Katy Perry as a Smurf

Based on the full trailer for The Smurfs , I’m guessing that Shrek 2 and Daddy Daycare writers J. David Stern and David N. Weiss scored the most coveted writing gig in Hollywood. At points in the script where most writers may have paced back and forth for hours, struggling for the right words, this team could simply just fill in any blank with the word “smurf.” In just under two minutes, the word is used in four different contexts, only two of which I understood. But will this movie go all the way?
