Creator Julie Plec and company came up with a unique way to write the character of Elena Gilbert off on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Episode 22 , as a cursed Elena is now tied to Bonnie forever. Until Bonnie dies, Elena will remain unconscious. So, yes, this does leave open some door for Dobrev to return at some point. But that isn’t the plan, according to Dobrev, Plec and everyone else connected to the series. Desperate to bring her kids home from Europe, where they live with her estranged husband, Kelly Rutherford is taking her plight to the people. Kelly’s We the People petition asking for the government to intervene in her epic six-year custody case reached the 100,000-signature mark. That means the White House will review her request and issue a response … the question is whether it will matter at all in achieving her goal. The former Gossip Girl cast member said of the petition: “I feel so blessed to have so much support for me and my children. I am optimistic that the Obama administration will step in and rescue my children.” Listing off some of her famous supporters, she added: “I want to mention Ed Westwick, Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Melanie Griffith, Selma Blair, Francis Fisher, Marianne Williamson and so many others.” Name-checking Kim Kardashian in a public plea to be taken seriously regarding a serious subject? Interesting strategy to say the least, Kelly. Recently Rutherford lost her legal fight to return Hermes, 8, and Helena, 5, to the U.S. from France, where they live with her ex Daniel Giersch. A California judge ruled that because his work visa had been revoked, the children would reside with him, and Rutherford must fly to go visit. Rutherford, ironically, is believed to be responsible for keeping him out of the U.S. after she reported him for dealing drugs and weapons. She adamantly denies this, and says that in their custody agreement, the judge told Giersch to reapply for his visa … which he has not done. So does Rutherford’s petition have a shot? A State Department spokesperson anonymously said that U.S. intervention would be unlikely. Rutherford’s attorney, Wendy Murphy, says a California family court judge violated Kelly’s constitutional rights and those of her children. “How on earth can two utterly innocent and defenseless American children be shipped like luggage to live in a foreign country?” she said. But a family lawyer not involved in the dispute argues that Rutherford would stand a much better chance in the international legal system. Her petition may be a powerful public cry and earn a lot of attention, but this is not a kidnapping case and Giersch was granted custody. In other words, it’s an uphill battle at best for Kelly. You might think that after a two-hour interview with Diane Sawyer and an upcoming two-part Keeping Up With the Kardashians special , Bruce Jenner would have said just about all that needs to be said about his sex change. That’s probably the case, but given how many headlines (and paychecks) Bruce has been grabbing lately, it’s unlikely that the Jenner-gender gravy train will stop rolling any time soon. The next stop is an E! reality series about Jenner’s sex change , and you won’t believe how much the former Olympian stands to rake in from his KUWTK spinoff. Radar Online is reporting that Jenner will make $5 million for the show’s first season with an option to make even more if the show is picked up for a second season. To put that in perspective, Jon Hamm makes half that much for a season of Mad Men. The entire Kardashian family made $100 million for a four-season renewal of KUWTK. In other words, Bruce is making an almost unprecedented amount of cash for a first-season basic cable show, and those past financial problems that he mentioned in the Sawyer interview are very unlikely to resurface. Of course, the best part of his big-bucks deal with E! is that Kris Jenner reportedly won’t see a dime. Now that’s a victory that puts Olympic gold to shame.

Might Suzanne Somers soon knock on the door of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills… permanently? The former Three’s Company actress – who partnered this season with Tony Dovolani on Dancing with the Stars and who is friends with Yolanda Foster – appeared last night on Watch What Happens Live. Because she’s stopped by the Bravo hit on a couple of occasions, Somers was asked about potentially becoming a full-time cast member on Season 6. “I’ve seen that [rumor]. Are you planting that?” Somers asked host Andy Cohen. “I loved showing up there. I don’t know if I want to be there all the time, but I loved showing up there.” So it doesn’t sound as if we’ll be able to watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online each week next year and see Somers gracing our screen… which is too bad. Early on Thursday this week, Kim Richards got arrested for being drunk and belligerent. That incident followed a season in which Kim fought with new cast members Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson, mostly about her alleged substance abuse issues. There was also plenty of tension between the Richards siblings and the featured women in general.
