Conquest is being described as a ” sweeping period drama ” that will depict the fall of the Aztec empire in the 16th century– so like Apocalypto (and yes, we know that was the Maya, not the Aztecs), but stretched out over 12 or 13 episodes. Deadline describes the show like so: “Filled with blood, lust, gold, magic and mythology, Conquest is…’a classic war story about two powerful men and their people ultimately leading to the destruction of the Aztec culture and the men themselves.'” In other words, we need to start working on our Aztec puns. My name is Isabella, I’m a 14 year old belieber from Sydney, Australia . Writing this now, my very own Bieber experience is something I could only ever dream of, and I still can’t believe it’s happened. Being a belieber to me means more then just supporting Justin’s music, but also being there for Justin unconditionally regardless of the rumors that are spread or who he dates. It all started about a month ago when Justin tweeted that he would be coming to Australia on the 15th for the promo tour of Believe. Me and my bieber BFF Steph couldn’t believe it! We were so happy, excited and overwhelmed! When we found out that the only way to see Justin was to win tickets, we started to become anxious and nervous that we weren’t going to see him, but we were determined. I spent practically my entire holidays behind a computer screen entering competitions and getting up at 6am every morning trying to win radio competitions. As time passed, it came the day where Sunrise sent a text message out to everyone who won tickets to see Justin at their performance, and I wasn’t one of them. We were devastated to say the least and I continuously tweeted how upset I was. Surely enough a girl DM’d me offering me 2 tickets. Me and Steph couldn’t believe it! I called Steph when I got the DM and she was just as pumped as I was! More days passed and it was Friday 13th, the day The Hot Hits, Take 40 and Channel V were to announce there competition winners at 2pm as they all tweeted. I was at Steph’s house at the time anxiously waiting. It was 2.30 and still no call, I was starting to give in. Just as I thought “That’s it, we didn’t win anything,” I got a call. It was channel V, calling to tell me that I was a minor prize winner of their competition and that I was going to not only see Justin perform at the secret location Live+ Intimate show which was only for 300 people, but also meet him! To say we were excited was an understatement, we were COMPLETELY freaking out! I couldn’t believe that out of thousands of entries they choose mine ( My reaction ) . The day came pretty quickly from then, and it was Tuesday 17th, or in other words the day that I was to meet my idol; the person that inspires me and I look up to so much. My mum let me have the day off school to get ready and at 12:45 we left home and caught a train into the city, where all the competition winners were to meet at the Cargo Bar. When we got there, we lined up, and got out wristbands put on. We were then ushered off onto the bus that would take us to ‘the secret location’, we didn’t even know where we were going! We were on the bus for more then an hour, practically having a tour of all Sydney, which I think was to tip off people where we were going. I saw Kenny and started banging against the window of the bus, but he didn’t see me haha. The acoustic performance started and as soon as I heard his beautiful voice singing, my heart started beating faster and faster. I was legit 3 meters away from him! My idol! My favorite song he performed was ‘Be Alright’, it was unbelievably flawless . My mum and I were swaying back and forth together, and when he looked to us he smiled. After 7 songs, he rapped up the performance and headed backstage with Dan, where I was yet to meet him. They told us we were to go in groups of 6 or 8. We went back outside down a long alley, near the red carpet which was where we entered through. Quickly approaching, we edged closer and closer to the front of the line, and was told that we weren’t allowed to give Justin anything, and that all gifts had to be given to security. We were at the front of the line, and finally it was time. We all heard the scream, “Next Group!” and my heart was beating at 100 miles an hour. I was the first to walk out and as soon as he turned his head and looked at me, I froze. I swear my heart melted right there. I couldn’t believe that he was right in front of me, my idol, my inspiration, my everything! Everything I had planned to say went right down the drain. He was like a life-size doll, flawless, amazing, and his cheek bones were the definition of perfection. I walked up to him and he said “Hi, how are you?” I was like “Good”, then I asked for a hug and he said “Of course”. I gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek, and I was still in shock-mode! His so skinny and about the same height as me. Whilst we were waiting for the photo to be taken, he had both arms around either Chey and I, and no-one was talking, my mum spoke up and goes “Isn’t anyone going to talk to the poor kid?! You did a good job, and your really talented”. He laughed and poked his head out, and said “Thanks so much”. We then had our photo taken and were told we had to leave. It went so fast. If I didn’t have the photo to prove it, I’d think I was in a dream and it wasn’t real. Thank you Channel V for giving me this once-in a lifetime opportunity, that I’ll forever be grateful for and thank you to my amazing best friend Helena (@helenaaxox) for always keeping me confident. Justin if your reading this, I’d like to say thank you for taking the time to meet us and always going out of your way to always please your fans (despite your hectic schedule). You have no idea how appreciative and thankful we are for everything you do for us. I can honestly say Justin is the sweetest, most humble, down to earth celebrity. Everyone who hasn’t met Justin, I know you’ve probably seen this in like 1000 other Bieber experiences, but seriously, don’t give up! Peter Jackson’s upcoming saga The Hobbit will be three films , the director confirmed on his Facebook page. Previously, only a sequel had been confirmed. He called the expansion to three films “an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, ‘A tale that grew in the telling’.” “…On behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, MGM and the entire [cast and crew], I’d like to announce that two films will become three.” The first installment, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will hit theaters December 14, with the second film already set for December 13, 2013. Jackson made no mention of a schedule for the third film, but said after watching the first and shooting part of the second, a trilogy felt necessary. “It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made,” he said in his statement. “Recently I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie – and a large chunk of the second.” “We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life.” “All of which gave rise to a simple question: Do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? The answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘Yes’.” “The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story, of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth,” wrote Jackson.

Director Andrew Stanton may have made one of the biggest flops in a generation, but you know what else he made? The Oscar-winning blockbuster Finding Nemo . Thus today’s big news from Mike Fleming at Deadline: “I’m told he’s now officially come aboard the Finding Nemo sequel and has a concept the studio loves. As for Disney coming through with another live-action project, I’m hearing that nothing is firm but that the studio is working on it. It looks like the studio is ready to give Stanton a mulligan on John Carter . Stanton, who has played a big role in many of Pixar’s hits going back to Toy Story , has an opportunity to put a big flop behind him.” Terrific! On Monday a shockwave rippled through the delicate ecosystem that is the internet, the place where fans, critics, commenters, bloggers, and lurkers live and breathe (and mouth-breathe), over the first reviews of The Dark Knight Rises . The Bat- and Christopher Nolan-faithful rose in arms against the first critics who dared break the news that the comic book movie threequel was maybe not the best movie of all time. Threats were made . Nasty comments were flung . Entire websites were overrun and taken out in retribution. So I ask you, Bat-fans: What Would Batman Do ? The fanboy (for lack of a better word) frenzy felt more akin to Bane’s terrorist assault on Gotham City in TDKR than any heroic pursuit of justice Batman himself would exact. Either due to blind faith (like that of Bane’s fanatical, extremist followers), or the outrage of the disadvantaged 99% (i.e. fans who have to wait until Thursday night at midnight to see TDKR for themselves), the worst of the irate fandom lashed out, ill-informed and vicious, at the mere suggestion that what they love wasn’t good. But, wait. Most TDKR fans haven’t even seen TDKR yet! How do they know the movie even deserves their love, or the self-debasement of their own humanity that comes with issuing hateful vitriol at strangers? Realistically, I’m guessing it will fall into the mid-70s-to-low-80s on Rotten Tomatoes – and yes, I’ve actually seen the film. And when fans finally see it for themselves, let’s be real, they’re not all going to be thrilled. That’s not to say I don’t sympathize with the downer that is hearing that the thing you’ve been looking forward to since The Dark Knight in 2008 isn’t as great as it looks (and those snippets and glimpses of TDKR we’ve seen pre-release were pretty fantastic). I get it. I’ve been a Christian Bale fan for longer than most Batman followers knew who he was. Unless you’ve accepted Newsies into your life, Bat-fans, you don’t know what real love is. Sometimes real love, real fandom, is embracing a thing that you connect to in spite of its flaws. If you still love it warts and all, then doesn’t that mean all the more? But let’s look at why so many folks embraced the Nolan Batman series, whether or not they’d self-identify as Batman fanboys (or Nolanazis , if you will ), or are plain old laypersons who just enjoy the hell out of the movies: Because Nolan & Co. translated these comic book superhero tales into compelling storytelling for grown-ups. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight already well legitimized comic book stories in the film art world and, certainly, the marketplace; we now get nothing but superheroes every summer blockbuster season. At this point, validity as a film genre has already been established, albeit with mixed results (though that’s more the fault of studio filmmaking than the source material). So why wouldn’t fans demand better films be made from the properties they love? Perhaps after Friday, fans will turn to the messages in TDKR to guide them. In the wake of the first wave of negative reviews and mixed-positive reactions, the Bat-faithful looked a lot like the 99% in TDKR – and in TDKR , said 99% is not exactly celebrated as a righteous movement of disenfranchised people, but that’s a conversation for another day. In the film, the villainous Bane preys on the hopes and feelings of injustice among Gotham’s underprivileged class, rousing them into misguided unrest and mindless mob violence. Amidst the chaos, Batman espouses a message of individual heroism, quietly leading by example while minimizing the carnage. He insists that anyone can become Batman, anyone can become a hero.
