Whitney Houston Bonds With Mariah Carey In Rare 1998 Interview

‘Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words’ airs tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on MTV. By John Mitchell Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey in 1998 Photo: MTV News Back in the fall of 1998, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey set aside their long-rumored rivalry and came together to record a duet, “When You Believe,” for the animated film “The Prince of Egypt.” An interview with the two divas from that time is one of the many rare moments unearthed for MTV’s live 30-minute tribute to the late singer, entitled “Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words,” airing tonight (February 15) at 7:30 p.m. ET on MTV. Asked about the song and whether they’d ever experienced a miracle in their own lives, Houston was the first to respond, telling MTV, “Yeah, I have. That baby sitting right up there. That’s my miracle.” She was referring, of course, to a then-5-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, her only child with ex-husband Bobby Brown. Bobbi Kristina has had a particularly difficult time dealing with the passing of her mother, and was herself rushed from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where Houston died , to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center less than 24 hours after her death. Bobbi was said to be “hysterical, exhausted and inconsolable,” sources close to the situation told TMZ . After Carey responds, “I don’t have a child, so I can’t say the same thing, but maybe one day I will,” Houston turns to her peer for a candid moment that seems like more of an aside between two new friends than an interview sound bite. “When you do, you will realize that is the ultimate miracle. If you think you’ve got records and you’ve done all this stuff and all that stuff, [it’s] nothing like that,” Houston says. “That’s a true love that costs nothing. Unconditional love.” Though they always insisted they were always on friendly terms, rumors of a rivalry between Houston and Carey persisted throughout the ’90s. Indeed, they were often pitted against each other on the music charts and by critics who declared their respective talents to be comparable. Even after they chose to silence rumors by recording “When You Believe” and conducting interviews together, the buzz continued. Some critics even believed they were trying to “outdo each other” during their performance of the song at the 1999 Academy Awards. Tune in as we celebrate the life of an icon with “Whitney Houston: In Her Own Words” tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on MTV. Reunited?!?! Vanessa Bryant Is Spotted At The Lakers Game Cheering And Sucking Face With Kobe!!!!

Well we’ll be damned… According to TMZ reports : Another come-from-behind victory for Kobe Bryant … sucking face and possibly reconciling with the woman who has now taken all of his homes …. Vanessa Bryant. Vanessa showed up for the Lakers Valentine’s Day victory over the Atlanta Hawks. The two shared a kiss in the tunnel on the way into the locker room. TMZ broke the story … Vanessa filed for divorce in December, and they have already sealed the property settlement deal in which Vanessa got all 3 Newport Beach estates. But sources told us at the time Vanessa filed … don’t be surprised if she goes back to Bryant. And, although Kobe and Vanessa have submitted all the necessary docs to divorce, it doesn’t become final until mid-June, so there’s plenty of time to withdraw the papers. What the HELL is going on here?!?! She takes $75 million and 3 houses from you and you’re still entertaining this broad?!?! Kobe, in the words of the great American poet Andre 3000: DON’T DO IT! Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough: Back On!

British pop star / X Factor judge Cheryl Cole and Dancing With the Stars professional Derek Hough have reconciled their relationship, according to reports. He allegedly dumped her last spring (or got dumped by her, depending on what you read), but apparently neither can resist each other … or Coldplay. They were caught canoodling in the audience at a recent show! The pair, who started dating in early 2010 after the former split with her husband, then split in mid-2011, reportedly began seeing each other again recently. Enter the obligatory romance-rekindling Coldplay concert. A witness said of Cole and Hough: “They were really slushy. He stood with his arms round her waist as they mouthed the words to each other for ‘Fix You’.” Who doesn’t want to drop their pants when that comes on? [Photo: WENN.com]

Some Grammy Bullshit Recap of the Day

I hate award shows….especially ones used as a jerk off fest for the 15 songs we hear non stop on the radio all fucking year to the point we want to rip out the throats of the cunts being thrown down our ears….but I got sucked into watching a few minutes of the shit…only to be reminded that this shit is not relevant anymore…it’s a dated system that doesn’t reflect what any actual music lover acually loves….likes here or even respects…it was a horrible miserbale joke…. Firstly shit was morbid as shit….from memorials…to Whitney shoutouts…to L.L. Cool J shoving his religion down all our throats by making us pray….which to me was beyond fucking offensive…preacher fucking J while vapid celebs who only care abou themselves pretended to care… Then it celebrated women beaters…it remained a jerk off fest…that merged shit artists by linking them up with each other shit artists….in horrible collabs…it offended me at my core….and the only thing I liked was Taylor Swift on the banjo cuz I fucking love banjos… I also liked that the world is forgetting gaga – which is nice and that Rihanna actually brought the most hotness and it worked for me… and that Katy Perry wore tight clothes showing off her dumpy body and annoyingness in Performance targeted at speaking to her recent divorce cuz she knows you gottta milk it….. The pics…. Then there was Paris Hilton threatening us all with a new album…happy someone finally cares enough to talk to her….hysterically remiding us that LMFAO are little rich twats from Beverly Hills…. And The fact remains….Ryan Seacrest is a twat….while some Deadmaus was wearing Skrillex’s phone number becuase I guess it is battle of the over-hyped college scene DJs who make too much fucking money and get too much fucking pussy….even if this kinda publicity stunt is actually pretty fucking funny if legit…. Jesse J was there…. Kate Beckinsale…..was there….. Whitney Houston wasn’t there….Who gives a fuck….people were asking me to rip apart Nicki Minaj…even though she has big fat chick tits and my penis is too small to even touch the edges of her nasty twat…but I feel her performance….the high school drama class performance…did a good job humiliating the bitch for being a lady gaga attempt at controversy pulled off worse than Lady Gaga does it…not to mention she was hiding her tit. The one redeeming quality her college theater club ass has… Here’s the performance…. Now you can kill yourself…..I know I want to…

Coco’s Ridiculous Body at Some Vegas Event of the Day

“Wasn’t she the girl who could sing high pitched or something”….it pretty much the words of genius that came out of Coco’s hooker/stripper mouth when asked about Whitney at the Grammy’s…. I didn’t think she was the brain…she’s more of the ridiculous tits and ass who doesn’t annoy me, because she embraces her life and realizes she’s a novelty act who looks like a novelty toy….pretty much a clown and from my experiece, you should never hate on a clown…or they will MOLEST YOUR CHILDREN Either way, here are her tits in Vegas…where she belongs…cuz it houses many escorts, showgirls, and washed up pussy who think they are living the dream….and she’s wearing a hot dress..

Ashley Tisdale Roller Bikini Girl

I make a lot of stupid jokes about Ashley Tisdale not having any work, all she ever seems to do is workout, but I think I’m going to have to eat my words. Here she is in her awesome little bikini and roller skate costume showing off all her hard work. Well done Ashley. She must spend a lot of time doing deep knee bends because that little booty is just spectacular. The shots of her with Sarah Hyland are almost too hot for me. Can testicles explode?

Romeo Santos, Former Aventura Frontman, Ventures Solo

Bachata star tells MTV News his first solo tour will present ‘nearly every single song on my new album, Formula, Vol. 1 .’ By Christina Garibaldi Romeo Santos Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images For over 15 years, Romeo Santos was the lead singer of the popular bachata group, Aventura . They performed across the globe, won 21 Billboard Latin Music Awards and released six studio albums — but now, Santos is stepping out on his own. The Bronx, New York, singer is returning to his hometown to play three sold-out shows at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden, a venue he sold out numerous times with his former band. “I love performing in New York,” Santos recently told MTV News. “Just something about the energy that the crowd gives you, you give it back, a lot of interaction. I’m looking forward to it.” Yet, this time, it will be a different experience for Santos, since he will be performing on his own. This past November, Santos released his debut solo album, Formula, Vol. 1 , which mixes his famous bachata style with R&B. On Friday (February 10), Santos will kick off his tour at MSG, performing for the first time in over a year. So, what can this sold-out crowd expect? “A lot of energy,” Santos said. “I don’t like to plans things a lot. It’s gonna be a show with a little bit of everything. You’re gonna hear some of my Aventura classics, nearly every single song on my new album, Formula, Vol. 1 , and what I do is I go onstage and I just ride it out. I don’t like planning what am I gonna say to the crowd. Sometimes the show takes a whole different twist.” Santos, who said he’s more anxious than nervous to take the stage without his Aventura bandmates, will be on the road until the end of March, and is humbled by the positive response he’s received from his fans. “I’m really, really grateful. I don’t take anything for granted,” Santos said. “I’ve been working very, very hard. I was very focused on this last production. I wanted it to represent a lot and not abandon my genre, my roots. ” Santos, who teamed up with Usher and Lil Wayne on his debut album, is not ruling out the possibility that these two might join him onstage during his tour. “It’s possible,” he said. “What I normally do is keep it a surprise, but it’s a possibility.” Are you excited to see Romeo Santos in concert? David Guetta, deadmau5 Get EDM Some Grammy Shine

Skrillex, Avicii, Duck Sauce, Swedish House Mafia and Robyn also contenders for Best Dance Recording at Sunday’s show. By Adam Stewart David Guetta Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images Kudos to the Academy. They’ve pretty much nailed it when it comes to the Grammy nominees in what’s arguably the most-important dance-related category Sunday night: Best Dance Recording. In 2011, the U.S. EDM market saw an explosion the likes of which hadn’t seen since the punk rock revolution back in the ’90s, and those given the nod are a testament to its abounding success. A category once graced by Madonna, Britney and Gaga is now overrun by the Prince of Dubstep, a monstrous mouse, a turntable whiz and his NYC cohort, three rock stars of house, a Frenchman with a Swedish prodigy and a girl who originally showed us love in the ’90s. Each one of the nominees was not only at the helm for producing a killer track, but was at the forefront of a movement that is changing the tastes of the American mainstream and truly defining cool culture. In further recognition of EDM’s explosion, the Grammys have lined up an all-star crew for a dance-music performance Sunday night in a tent outside Staples Center. Chris Brown, the Foo Fighters and Lil Wayne will join EDM superstars deadmau5 and David Guetta for a genre-busting performance that will highlight dance/electronica music. This marks the first Grammy performance to shed light on the increasingly popular genre, which has recently seeped into every form of music. For anyone still getting their feet wet in the scene, fear not: We’ve broken down the Best Dance Recording noms, put together a little prediction of who will probably win, based on how these things have gone in the past, and who should win — as in, what might best be accepted and respected by the EDM masses. It could very well be a pivotal year for the Grammys — if they get it right. Best Dance Recording Nominees deadmau5 and Greta Svabo Bech, “Raise Your Weapon” : deadmau5 went dubstep with this little experiment, and it earned him high marks. The angelic vocals of Bech, juxtaposed with signature ruff and rugged dubstep riffs, this track catapulted itself into a monster. deamau5 again showcased his versatility while (for the most part) maintaining that signature deadmau5 sound, but was it original enough for what we usually expect from this seemingly unconquerable musical madman? Duck Sauce , “Barbra Streisand” : In 2009, iconic NYC house-music icon Armand Van Helden paired up with Canadian spin master A-Trak in a collaborative effort named after the most popular of all condiments in pan-Asian cuisine. Since then, they’ve become one of the most popular dance acts around, in large part due to this crossover smash that pays homage to one of America’s most beloved entertainers. The tune is decked out with a spirited house groove and a vocal hook that everyone knows the words to. You’d have to have lived on the moon to not have heard this one, and have no soul to do anything but love it. David Guetta and Avicii , “Sunshine” : True EDM fans can’t complain on this one. It’s progressive house at its finest. EDM loyalists all the world over were ecstatic to see Guetta distancing himself from the Peas and picking up on Avicii, who is simply one of the most insanely talented producers out there. Try listening to this tune and not smiling ear to ear. It combines Avicii’s signature piano riffs and progressive charm with Guetta’s thunderous big room house and ability to produce bangers at a moment’s notice. The production value of “Sunshine” is precise, clean and harmonious. If the Academy is properly tuned in, this thumper has a good chance of coming out the victor. Robyn , “Call Your Girlfriend” : Taking nothing away, this is a killer tune by one of the key players in the dance-music crossover. However, it was Kaskade’s remix (un-nominated) that truly resonated with the EDM masses. Regardless, the original was a monster in the mainstream, and the killer cut off the third installment of Body Talk has absolutely taken Robyn to new heights and solidified her place as one of the all-time dance-music greats. Skrillex , “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” : This track was Dubstep 101 to anyone who’d never heard the genre. Call it “brostep” if you will, but you can’t deny that it expanded the sonic pallet of anyone who dared to listen to it. Some would say EDM noobs as a whole probably think the track defines the movement as a whole, which is less than accurate. Never the less, Skrillex and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” is a very fitting example of what helped push dance music into the spotlight in 2011. Don’t be surprised to see Skrillex walking away with the golden gramophone. Swedish House Mafia , “Save the World” : The year 2011 was perhaps an incubation period for the rock stars of house. Having released just a pair of tracks in the calendar year, the Swedes went a little more pop on this than they had in the past, but nevertheless, still gave their loyal following what they wanted with a killer hook and an impossible-not-to-sing-along vocal provided by fellow Swede John Martin. If videos were involved in the selection, this would certainly take the prize. Heroic puppies and house music? A match made in heaven.
