The List of Words to be Banished from the Queen’s English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness was compiled by Michigan’s Lake Superior State University. The 38th annual list is currently trending. Ironically, “trending” is also on the list. Spoiler alert trumps all, though. The seemingly thoughtful way to warn readers or viewers about tv spoilers and more has become played out to the max. Lake Superior’s study says the term is now “used as an obnoxious way to show one has trivial information and is about to use it, no matter what.” Another nominee for the banned words list in 2012 is “ fiscal cliff ,” because of its overuse by media outlets when describing looming tax hikes and budget cuts. “You can’t turn on the news without hearing this,” the study reported of the cliff. “We’re equally worried about the River of Debt and Mountain of Despair.” Other terms coming in for a literary lashing in the last 12 months are “bucket list,” “superfood,” “guru,” “job creators,” “double down” and “ YOLO ” … sorry Drake.

Lady Gaga sure loves her Little Monsters. SO much so that she’s setting up a free tailgate for them before her concerts – and offering free mental health care. In a Facebook post, Gaga, 26, announced that counseling will be available for fans before her Born This Way Ball shows … she’s definitely a giver. She described the concert’s BornBrave pre-show as “a fun tailgating experience for monsters to unite,” but it will also be a place where they can seek help. “At the BornBrave Bus you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends,” she wrote. “There will also be food and games,” she adds, “Plus DJ White Shadow and Lady Starlight will DJ with host BREEDLOVE to keep the experience fun.” She clarified that the BornBrave Bus will be “a place where mental health + depression are taken seriously w/ no judgement, FREE real help available to all.” “I feel like most kids don’t look for help because they feel embarrassed so mom + I wanted to break the stigmas around ‘help’ and make it fun,” she wrote. Gotta hand it to the Lady, who has been active in the fight against bullying long before the Connecticut shooting tragedy, for starting this initiative.

Charlie Sheen decided to end the year with a controversial bang last night. The actor was the life of the party at a bar opening in Cabo when he jumped on stage to introduce iconic guitarist Slash, along with other big musical acts. For inexplicable reasons, however, Sheen screamed at the crowd: “How we doing? … Lying bunch of f**got a**holes, how we doing?” TMZ has the video of Sheen’s slur , along with two quotes from the actor. First, Sheen appears to make a sincere apology, telling the site: “I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone.” Then, in classic Charlie Sheen fashion, he goes on to mock the incident, adding: “I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp.” Aside from helping Lindsay Lohan with her taxes, Sheen has remained relatively quiet and scandal-free over the past few months. But, hey, at least he didn’t beat any women while slamming homosexuals. We suppose that’s progress for the troubled star.
