Go here to read the rest:

It’s not very often that you run into a story that so perfectly captures both the sheer contempt which many reporters hold for the public and their desire to enable Democratic politicians. That’s what happened in Chicago earlier this week when conservative journalist Bill Kelly had the temerity to ask Illinois Democratic senator Dick Durbin if he felt that he shared any responsibility at all for the… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : NewsBusters Discovery Date : 12/08/2011 17:18 Number of articles : 2

Jonnie Marbles (real name Jonathan May-Bowles), the blogger, Twitter enthusiast and Rupert Murdoch attacker is elusive to say the least. His blog, titled “Anarch*ist,” with tagline, “Because the state’s not gonna smash itself,” claims the following: Jonnie Marbles is not the real name of this writer, comedian, activist and blogger. Errol Morris on Tabloid Truth, Media Fury and Kissing Reality Goodbye

For a guy who has spent the last three decades mapping the contours of human frailty and folly, director Errol Morris is awfully upbeat about the future. Of course, his is not just any map: It illustrates redoubts of genius ( A Brief History of Time , Mr. Death ) and islands of quirk ( Gates of Heaven , Vernon, Florida ) in vast seas of systemic failure ( The Thin Blue Line , the Oscar-winning The Fog of War , Standard Operating Procedure ). Its moral compass points mysteriously inward, challenging viewers to orient themselves accordingly. His latest film, Tabloid , exists as its own sort of hemisphere in this schema, marking milestones of crime, gossip, sex, religion, love, science and indiscretion in the jaw-dropping story of Joyce McKinney.

Random Ridiculousness: People Are Out There Spending $12K On Fake Babies

ROFL, did someone forget to tell us the recession was over??? According to recent news reports, elaborate fake babies—called “reborn dolls”—are becoming popular with adult women. The dolls, which can cost more than $12,000 (but often sell for several hundred or a few thousand dollars)—have extremely realistic hair and incredibly lifelike facial features and skin tone, thanks to many hours spent by artists who paint them, complete with one-of-a-kind birthmarks—and painstakingly apply their locks and lashes. Some of the dolls are made to look exactly like premature babies and delivered with an incubator and even with IVs. Some younger women claim the dolls satisfy their maternal needs. Some middle-aged women claim the dolls comfort them as their children leave for college. Indeed, companies will supply custom-made dolls that closely resemble a woman’s own baby—born twenty years before. It would be one thing if women were buying “reborn dolls” out of morbid curiosity or a passion to collect them (like Hummel figurines). But women are taking their dolls out in strollers (no kidding) and strapping them into car seats for trips to the mall. Fortunately, they don’t actually believe their “babies” are real. That would be a true psychotic delusion. But they are able to suspend disbelief and play with them as though they are real—kind of like believing in a movie while you are watching it… No, no: these broads are absolutely certifiable if they’re a) spending this kind of money on baby dolls and b) treating them like real babies… But it gets worse. Check the flip…

So Disrespectful: Some Australian “Journalist” Made Up That Whole Michael Jackson & Aaron Carter Cocaine Story

Why would someone even try to get away with this??? According to TMZ , Aaron Carter’s rep says that whole conversation where he reminisced about doing blow with Michael Jackson is a fairytale that happened in the writer’s imagination. The controversy stems from an article that ran in OK! Magazine in Australia, written by international journalist Daphne Barak. In the article, Carter was quoted as saying, “Yes, [MJ] gave me wine. I mean, I could have refused, but I was 15. As for drugs? He gave me cocaine.” But Carter’s rep tells TMZ, “Nothing was said that was reported” … and directed us toward a YouTube video of the interview with Barak … which seems to back up Aaron’s side of the story. SMH. For what, though???

‘Transformers: Dark Of The Moon’: Behind The ‘Star Trek’ Nods

Director Michael Bay explains threequel’s many references to ‘Trek,’ including Leonard Nimoy’s voice work. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Bumblebee in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” Photo: Paramount Sometimes Easter Eggs in movies — an intentional in-joke, reference or hidden message — are hard to spot, very blink-and-you-miss-it, and thus require repeat viewings to pick up on. Not so with “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” however. Even the most casual filmgoer should pick up on at least one of the many “Star Trek” references in the film. When MTV News caught up with director Michael Bay, we asked him to address the “Trek” connections, beginning with his enlistment of beloved actor Leonard Nimoy, a.k.a. Spock, to voice the role of Sentinel Prime. “He’s actually related to me. He married Susan Bay [the director’s cousin],” Bay said. “I was scared to ask him to voice. I saw him at Thanksgiving, and my mom was like, ‘Ask him! Ask him!’ I’m like, ‘No, Mom, no!’ ” As difficult as it is to imagine Bay being afraid of anything, he eventually got over his Nimoy anxiety. Bonus factoid for the non-Transformer geeks: Nimoy also lent his vocal talents to the 1986 animated film, as the voice of Galvatron. Speaking to other “Trek” references, Bay said he didn’t have anything to do with them; they all came from the film’s screenwriter. “That was my writer, Ehren Kruger,” Bay said. “[He] is a ‘Star Trek’ geek, so that wasn’t my thing.” So how many references did you count? Here are the three we spotted ( minor spoilers ahead ): 1. When Sam (Shia LaBeouf) meets girlfriend Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) at work and is introduced to her boss, Dylan Gould (Patrick Dempsey), he marvels at their workplace: “It’s a beautiful building you guys have. Like the Starship Enterprise in here.” 2. Refugee robots Brains and Wheelie, who are hiding out in Carly and Sam’s apartment, watch an episode of “Trek,” during which one of them says, “Hey, I like this episode. It’s the one where Spock turns evil” — which also provides for a nice bit of tongue-in-cheek foreshadowing. 3. At one point, Sentinel Prime defends certain motivations with a fun little reverse quote of Spock’s wise words to Captain Kirk in “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.” “Dark of the Moon” quote: “The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many.” Original: “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” What did we miss?
