Angelina Jolie Set To Write, Direct Bosnian War Film

‘The film is a love story, not a political statement,’ says actress, who will not appear in movie. By Jocelyn Vena Angelina Jolie Photo: Toni Passig/ WireImage Angelina Jolie is taking her act behind the scenes for her latest project. Jolie will write, produce and direct a film set during the Bosnian War in the early ’90s. She is working on the flick with GK Films , which made the announcement on its website. The film, about a Bosnian woman and a Serbian military man who fall in love during the war, when the Bosniaks and Serbs were fighting each other, will serve as Jolie’s feature directorial debut, according to The Hollywood Reporter. GK Films says that actors of “various ethnicities from the region of the former Yugoslavia” will be cast. Jolie will not be in the film, and filming is expected to take place this fall, with no locations being announced due to security concerns. The Oscar winner, who serves as Goodwill Ambassador for the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and frequently makes trips to the area, visited Sarajevo last weekend to discuss the refugee situation with some of the country’s leaders. “The film is a love story, not a political statement,” Jolie said in a statement released by the UNHCR during her visit to the region last week. “I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can.” GK Films produced her upcoming Johnny Depp co-starring release, “The Tourist,” set to hit theaters in December. She is also slated to star in Tim Burton’s “Sleeping Beauty” as the film’s evil queen, Maleficent, and will assume the title role in “Cleopatra.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Cee-Lo Calls Viral Explosion Of ‘F— You’ Single ‘Pretty Magical’

‘It’s a pleasant surprise, I must say,” singer says of f-bomb-dropping song. By Gil Kaufman Cee-Lo Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ Filmmagic There’s no denying the ear-candy magic in Cee-Lo Green’s f-bomb-dropping kiss-off soul nugget “F— You.” But even the Goodie Mob/ Gnarls Barkley singer himself has been a bit surprised at the viral explosion set off by the lyrics-only video for the first single from his upcoming The Lady Killer album, which has rung up more than 2 million views since it was released last Thursday. “It’s a pleasant surprise, I must say,” the singer told Entertainment Weekly ‘s music blog Music Mix. “I think it’s totally surpassed just about everyone’s expectations. We had a clue — I mean, it’s a very noticeable song — but this has been extraordinary.” Though he’s understating the shockingly catchy nature of the profanity-laced Motown-like ditty, the success is probably a bigger shock to the Smeezingtons production team behind it, which consists of the writing and production trio of Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine. The song came together almost two years into the recording of the singer’s third solo effort and, according to EW, when the producers played him a rough sketch of it in the studio, they weren’t even sure it was worth finishing up. “When Bruno first sung ‘F— You’ to me, they were still a bit indecisive on whether or not it could work at all,” Cee-Lo said. “I was like, ‘I like it. Let’s record it.’ ” Cee-Lo said he got heavily involved in finishing up the tune, pitching in many of the lyrics on the verses, which were somewhat based on his own experiences of being jilted by a lover who was looking for a man with deeper pockets. “I mean, it’s based on something true. … As far as me personally, it’s not a current event. It’s a figurative account. It’s not completely fictitious, though,” he said cryptically. Clearly taken by surprise by the instant success of the low-rent video — which consists of the song’s lyrics printed out over solid color backgrounds — Cee-Lo said his team is working on cooking up a more elaborate clip as well as a profanity-stripped radio edit called “Forget You.” Have you heard or seen the video for Cee-Lo’s “F— You”? James Cameron’s Next Movie Might Not Be ‘Avatar’ Sequel

‘I’m sort of weighing this constellation of really cool things I want to do,’ filmmaker says of next project. By Kara Warner James Cameron Photo: MTV News With the re-release of “Avatar” just days away, all the Na’vi and James Cameron news has been focused on the extra nine minutes of footage added to the original theatrical release, as well as the director’s plans for a return to Pandora via two possible sequels — one of which he said will be set in and around the oceans of the fictitious planet. When MTV News caught up with the Oscar winner, in addition to delving into a multitude of “Avatar” topics and Cameron’s current work in the real world with NASA, he revealed a newsy fact about his next film. As has been widely speculated, it might not be an “Avatar” sequel. We asked him whether “Battle Angel” or “The Dive” might be his next undertaking. “Well, they’re both possible projects,” Cameron said vaguely. “I’m sort of weighing this constellation of really cool things I want to do. There’s X-amount of time available. I do want to do another ‘Avatar’ film, probably two. I’m talking to Fox about that right now.” He then added: “There’s a strong possibility that I might insert one of these other movies in between before I do another [‘Avatar’], but it’s all up in the air.” So specific, that James Cameron. Try as we might, he would not reveal any more details. He was similarly vague when he spoke with local Los Angeles TV affiliate KTLA : “I think three years would be the minimum, probably more like four from where we’re sitting right now,” Cameron said of when audiences might expect an “Avatar” sequel. “There’s a possibility I might make another film on a different subject in the meantime, because that’s a big commitment of time for me. … I haven’t said anything about this publicly yet. It’s a film that I’ve been working on kind of on and off over the years, just the writing. It might be something that I do first, or it might be something I do after that. I haven’t really mapped it all out yet. … The other idea that I have is more of a live-action film.” While Cameron cleverly avoids spilling any real secrets, he leaves us to ponder his next move. What do you think Cameron’s next project will be? Discuss it in the comments below. Tim Burton Reuniting With ‘Ed Wood’ Writers For ‘Addams Family’

Team is also developing ‘Big Eyes,’ based on artist Margaret Keane and her portraits of big-eyed children. By Adam Rosenberg Tim Burton Photo: Tony Barson/ WireImage One of filmmaker Tim Burton’s strongest efforts of the past 30 years is, ironically, “Ed Wood,” a biopic charting the life of the famed director of 1959’s “Plan 9 From Outer Space,” a work widely regarded as the worst film of all time. It’s great then to see that Burton is reuniting with the writing team behind the 1994 release. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will join Burton in developing a script for the planned stop-motion adaptation of Charles Addams’ famed comic strip, “The Addams Family,” Deadline reports . Burton will also produce with Chris Meledandri for Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures. The same article reveals that Burton will also produce the writing duo’s fact-based drama “Big Eyes,” which is “based on artist Margaret Keane’s struggle to get credit for the line of paintings of big-eyed children that became wildly popular in the ’60s.” Alexander and Karaszewski wrote the script with the intent of directing themselves. The “Addams Family” news comes several months after reports surfaced that Burton would direct a 3-D stop-motion adaptation of the famed comic strip. In a statement made to MTV News at the time, Burton’s reps stated, “There is no truth to the story. Tim has not lined up any of his upcoming projects.” It was clear even then that Burton could settle on “Addams Family” next. He still could direct, too. Deadline reports that he will “direct a film that is one of the plum projects on Meledandri’s slate for Illumination,” which of course now includes “Addams Family.” “Big Eyes” came up while Burton was in discussions with Alexander and Karaszewski about the comic strip adaptation. “It turns out he’s a big fan of Margaret and has commissioned artwork from her,” Alexander told Deadline. It doesn’t hurt that the actual story is a remarkable truth-is-stranger-than-fiction tale. Walter Keane, Margaret’s husband, became a celebrity in the 1950s, riding a wave of success from his mass-produced prints of big-eyed children. Though the images bore his signature, Margaret was the one with an aptitude for making art. When the two eventually divorced and Margaret tried to make it known that she was the artist, Walter sued. The case that followed culminated in a dramatic showdown in which the judge ordered that two easels be set up in the courtroom, staging what essentially amounted to a paint-off. No release window is listed for either project, though IMDb’s listing for “Big Eyes” is labeled 2011. With the script already written, a budget that is reportedly “in the teens” and Burton producing, it is certainly possible that the Keane pic will be ready for next year. Stephanie Pratt Recalls Fooling Club Bouncers On ‘When I Was 17’

In this week’s episode, which airs Saturday at 11 a.m., the ‘Hills’ starlet recalls posing as a married woman to get past ID checks. By Mawuse Ziegbe Stephanie Pratt appears on “When I was 17” Photo: MTV News Many OMG moments on MTV’s “The Hills” went down in Los Angeles’ most exclusive nightclubs. Way before castmember Stephanie Pratt waded into the show’s drama, she learned how to navigate the city’s nightlife. On the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” which airs Saturday at 11 a.m., Pratt remembers that she didn’t let a little thing like her age get in the way of clubbing. “When I was 17, all of my friends were 21 and going out to clubs on school nights, and I obviously wanted to go with them. So, I’d get to clubs, and I had such a baby face at 17, and [bouncers would] be like, ‘There’s no way you’re 27,’ ” Pratt said. The reality star, who was 17 in 2003, says that with a little sophisticated banter she was able to wriggle past the velvet rope. “I had ‘borrowed’ my mom’s cocktail ring and I used to wear it on my wedding finger and say to the doorman, ‘You are just such an angel, I’m actually married!’ ” Pratt explained. “And they’d be like, ‘Oh, well. In that case, come right in.’ ” Pratt’s buddy Mike said the sneaky tactic reflects the starlet’s deeply held desire to make the scene. “Stephanie is gonna get what she wants. So if she wants to get in that club, she’s gonna do whatever it takes,” Mike said. Once Pratt got past the velvet ropes, she would have another issue to deal with: sleazy guys. “The worst part is that I would get hit on at these clubs and I really thought I was just being really nice and I’d be like, ‘OK, it was so fun talking to you for two hours,’ ” the “Hills” star continued. “They’d be like, ‘You’re not gonna come home with me?’ and I’d be like, ‘Oh, like a sleepover?’ I was just so na
