Wow…That’s His Bae: Wale Clarifies His Boo Is A 6-Figure Earning Black Woman After Fan Comes For Her

Source: Prince Williams / Getty Wale Defends Girlfriend To Fan Who Called Her “Model Chick” Wale went into defense mode last night while addressing a fan who asked about his love life . The “Wow… That’s Crazy” rapper had a live conversation with Tidal’s Elliott Wilson in front of an audience of fans when he stood up for his professional model bae. Wale, 35 and India Graham , 22, have been displaying their affinity for each other all over social media and fans have been asking questions about his new bae online. It’s unclear what was exactly asked by the fan to Wale, but it set him off on a tangent where he addressed his relationship between him and the mother of his toddler daughter Chloe and his new bae India. “I got one of the most beautiful, powerful, inspirational baby mothers of all time. Somewhere along the way, we lost our way as connecting lovers but I will always hold that woman down for the rest of my life. Now, you say that model chick…that ain’t no ‘model chick’. That’s a special human being that came in my life, taught me about affirmations, taught me how to love better, taught me how to be positive. You severely underplaying somebody that’s special. That ‘model chick’ that is a motherf**king beautiful, inside and out Black woman. She just happens to be good and makes 6-figures for taking pictures.”   Shit got real. #CRWN @Wale #TIDAL pic.twitter.com/12zN9jsUig — Elliott Wilson (@ElliottWilson) October 16, 2019 Earlier this week, the undefined coupled joked about folks mistaken India for being “white”. Now we know she’s Black and wealthy. Good for her! Becky from Bel Aire bitch too scared to ask to touch my hair — Wale (@Wale) October 11, 2019 In related news, Wale’s bae just turned 22 this week. Spragga Benz Talks ‘Chiliagon,’ Jamaica’s Censorship

Source: press handout / tma A few days before this year’s West Indian Day Parade in New York City, Spragga Benz was a guest at SUNY Empire State in downtown Brooklyn. The dancehall pioneer was seated at the front of the room alongside two music executives and Dr. Carolyn Cooper, a professor at the University of the West Indies. They would be discussing the future of dancehall and reggae music as well as what that progression means for new artists. “The youth are doing their thing,” Spragga says, following the panel. “It’s a whole new generation from 1995. A different set of youth.  They’re expressing themselves and it’s not fair for us to say that what they’re doing isn’t right. Or lesser than that because we were free to do what we wanted and our parents were probably saying that what we were doing is stupid or wrong.” “A man may start out slack and end up conscious. It’s a journey.”—Spragga Benz On an elevated platform, Spragga offered stories of humble beginnings and incidentally finding his place in dancehall, although his personal business would have been better off without the cameras and the bright lights. “More people wanted me to record and I was like, ‘Alright. This thing is getting out of hand now…” The audience chuckled collectively. He continued earnestly, “Because my thinking at the time was about the type of lifestyle I was living, the type of friends that I had and the type of things we were doing… I’m not going up on no stage.”  View this post on Instagram See me with my spliff… big tune on the Grass Is Greener soundtrack #netflix @salaamremi production A post shared by Spragga Benz (@spraggabenz3) on Oct 13, 2019 at 5:56pm PDT That fear of exposure ended shortly thereafter as Spragga would go on to run the genre in mid-90s and now as he nears 30 years in the industry, there’s a sense of reverence that comes with his name. So much so that his first album in nearly a decade, Chiliagon , debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Reggae charts. Spragga Benz is out here breaking personal records for himself, even still. In a recent press release, Lem Oppenheimer, co-founder of Easy Star stated, “We are proud to have helped Spragga get to #1 for the first time in his career. What this shows us is that Spragga is still a vibrant artist, a current creative force, and an important voice in reggae worldwide.”    The album [ cop it here ] is a direct reflection of how Spragga defines the word ‘chiliagon’ — “a shape with a thousand sides.” The mix of roots reggae, drum and bass, dancehall, grime, garage and hip-hop highlights an evolution of sound, at least from his end. “That’s how I approach music,” he reveals. “I don’t really box into anything. I have different sides to myself and there’s an inclusion of all different genres of music, but to me a lot of different music comes from dancehall same way. So this album shows the connections and similarities and how a dancehall artist actually sounds over these different beats that actually aren’t that different.” Spragga claims that “No Regrets,” a wavy, roots reggae-inspired track from Chiliagon is his favorite on the album. Preceding the LP, Spragga’s “Count Tree” over the “Calaloo” riddim specifically highlights his spirited flow alongside synth-heavy production with just enough bounce to fall within the lines of traditional dancehall. Another single, “If Yuh Ready,” with UK DJ General Levy is specifically grime, or as Spragga describes: “Jungle Music!” His eyes light up, excitedly. “That same jungle music? It’s derived from dancehall music. It’s the same thing just sped up. They use our same bass lines and faster drums.” Naturally mellow, nothing seems to move Spragga Benz like music or talks of progression. As an OG in the dancehall world, Spragga has made it his business — his literal business, with Red Star Productions — to help motivate and encourage those coming behind him. Red Star is a sort of in-between, for young creatives trying to find their way. “We try to enhance the talent of young artists, bringing what they have out of them,” he explains. “Some may come to us as artists but they aren’t really artists. They might be a better producer or road manager or a writer, whatever it is that you want to do, we’ll push you to do it anyways, because that’s your desire until you find your growth and then you can always divert.”  “We try to just bring people in, let them be themselves but we try and guide them in the direction they want to go in without tying them to anything. You owe us nothing. It’s just doing you doing your own work and us giving you a platform.” View this post on Instagram #Repost @sunyuwicenter ・・・ Thank you to all of the participants who supported the successful launch of the SUNY-UWI Center for Leadership and Sustainable Development —Community Engagement Lecture Series entitled: “The Caribbean Music Industry 2019: What’s Next for Reggae, Dancehall and New Breakout Artists?” . . . #brooklyn #brooklynny #education #highered #suny #spraggabenz #sunyuwicenter #sunyuwi #clsd #music #breakoutartists #summerlecture @cristyofaragon @spraggabenz3 @irie_bobby @sunyempire @uwitv #empirestatecollege #carolyncooper #communityengagement #lectureseries #caribbeancommunityimpact #jamaicandiaspora #reggaemusic #dancehallmusic #artist A post shared by Spragga Benz (@spraggabenz3) on Aug 20, 2019 at 2:58pm PDT Earlier in the evening, during the panel, one man in the audience stood up and lamented, “It is the artist’s responsibility to censor your lyrics…” Attendees murmured in their seats. “You owe it to the youth.” It was only a matter of time before the topic arose of Jamaica’s unyielding moral code of conduct. Spragga held steadfast in his belief that an artist having to censor himself, defeats the idea of his being a creative. “They’re [the government] censoring dancehall artists, specifically,” he shares later. “Because those from other genres are able to say whatever they feel like saying. And I just think we should be free to say whatever we feel and express ourselves in our own way. Every man has his own idea of what’s right and what’s wrong. So leave a man to his own judgment and learning.”  “A man may start out slack and end up conscious. It’s a journey,” he continues. “Allow a man to walk his journey. Censorship comes in when some people want power over other people. Or when some people feel important and want to be ‘the God’ over what other people are doing and when you have enough people who feel that way, they form themselves into bodies and give themselves titles and feel even more important.”  “But artists only want to express themselves, we have our own moral compass to follow. A lot of us have children too and come from good homes with parents that give us certain  responsibilities and morals as well.”

Racks City: Tyga Inks Multi-Million Dollar Deal With Columbia Records

Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / WENN Tyga proved that he still had hits left in the chamber after his massive 2011 single “Rack City” with 2018’s “Taste” featuring Offset, and the release of his seventh studio album, Legendary . Now, the 29-year-old rapper is back in the major label fold after inking a multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Records. As exclusively reported by Variety , Tyga, born Michael Ray Stevenson, signed with Columbia Records after the success of the aforementioned “Taste” and appearances on chart-topping hits from Iggy Azalea on “Kream” and “Go Loko” from YG. Tyga told the outlet that the pairing between him and Columbia is something he’s looking forward to. From Variety : Joining the Sony Music label was a decision made with a global view, Tyga tells Variety. “They definitely understand the global brand,” he says of the company. “I have a lot of fans worldwide — in places I’ve never been like South America, and in places I have been like Asia and Europe. They can help bring that to a larger scale. Doing it independently, you don’t really have those teams to help worldwide. Sony, if you look at the history from what they’ve done from Pharrell to Beyonce to Adele — then you look at Lil Nas X, one of their new artists that’s blown up this year — they’ve done a lot for artists globally, for their brand. That’s why I wanted to partner up with them.” Congrats to Tyga! — Photo: WENN

This Is Us Recap: Time Jump, Jump, Jump Around

Just when you think you know everything about absolutely everyone on This Is Us, it turns out… … you do not. This simple, yet surprising, message was at the heart This Is Us Season 4 Episode 4, an installment titled “Flip a Coin” that taught viewers about  Kevin and The Manny , Randall and Beth in college during a parental visit, baby Jack and music and a whole lot more. Let’s start with KATE , shall we? In the past, fans saw a teenage version of this character still struggling with a purpose after her brothers went off and she remained home. When she finally turned off Buffy the Vampire Slayer (good taste in TV shows!), Kate ventured to the record store and bought some new CDs — and also got a job! In the present, tensions between Kate and Toby continued to fester, which had been a theme of the previous  two episodes . They took young Jack to a music class, which didn’t turn out well because he kept getting scared by the instruments and singing. After going back and forth each other, the couple took their son to the beach. While he was frightened by the class, viewers do  at least know he goes on to have quite a bit of success in music — and, as Kate noted, music is something he can do even without his sight. What about RANDALL and BETH ? The first question:  Do these two owe everything to Rebecca? In the past, she visited Randall at college and got the sense that he longed for Beth… which, granted, was rather obvious. She proceded to take matters into her own hands by getting up and asking if they could join Beth and her mother for lunch. Such aggression paid off, notably, when Randall gave Beth a slice of lemon without her even asking. On their one and only date (at the time), Beth ordered a Coke with lemon. At lunch at school, she didn’t have a lemon for her drink. Rebecca ended up bonding with Beth’s mom over their shared widow status, as Carol inspired Rebecca to start getting her life back in order following Jack’s death. Time jump back to the present — and Carol visited for Beth’s dance studio opening. Once there, Carol said she didn’t like Randall for Beth at first… but only because she didn’t really see the strength he needed to be a proper partner for her daughter. Randall and Beth also met Malik and discovered he has a daughter. Watch This Is Us Season 4 Episode 4 Online We’ll end with KEVIN . Alternating between the present — where Kevin found out The Manny was canceled 00 and the pilot shoot for this same, This Is Us revealed quite a bit about the character. Almost more than we had ever learned before. In the present, Kevin attempted to distract Cassidy and Nicky when their planned Alcoholics Anonymous meeting was incorrectly scheduled. How so? By talking about shopping for a new RV. While out and about, Kevin and Cassidy discussed her possible divorce, his experience with The Manny and Nicky revealed the origins of his trailer. Prior to the war, you see, there was Sally, someone Jack asked out on a shy Nicky’s behalf. They planned to trek across this great nation after he returned from war — but eventually he simply stopped writing to her. After all that transpired in Vietnam, Nicky said he was “pretty broken.” Therefore, one day he figured he would just go for it, using his savings on the trailer and heading to Sally’s house unannounced. She wasn’t home, though. So, he drove off and, well that was it. He said he realized it wasn’t meant to be. In a parallel moment, past Kevin revealed his doubts about The Manny pilot to Kate and said he really wished it didn’t make it to series so he could go off, stop acting and just have a family somewhere. That was all he truly wanted. However, he then had a moment at the conclusion of the pilot filming where he connected with his baby costar and the “stupid character” on a show with a “stupid premise” wasn’t a joke anymore. He made a baby laugh and it changed his life. After relaying that story to Cassidy, Kevin did indeed buy an RV…for himself. And he moved in next to Nicky.

Jennifer Aniston Literally Breaks Instagram with Friends Reunion Photo

Jennifer Aniston accomplished two milestones on Tuesday morning: 1. She joined Instagram. 2. She broke Instagram. And we mean the latter in a literal sense, not in the way Kim Kardashian meant it when she placed a champagne glass on her butt . After many years of remaining off the social media radar, Aniston surprised fans by sharing a picture on Instagram today — and the platform was so overwhelmed by the popularity of said photo that the star’s page immediately went down. “We are aware that some people are having issues following Jen’s page — the volume of interest is incredible!” a spokesperson for Instagram said in a statement, adding: “We are actively working on a solution and hope to have the page up and running smoothly again shortly.” The company did quickly find a solution, getting Aniston’s account up and running within an hour. As for the image that stirred up such chaos in the first place? Here it is: Oh, yes, Aniston came in strong, folks. She posted a selfie of her smiling face — and those of ex-Friends co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc. “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM,” Aniston captioned the post. In under an hour, she had racked up more than 116,000 followers — and had followed dozens of famous pals, such as David Spade, Julia Roberts, Adam Sandler, and ex-husband Justin Theroux. Heck, Theroux even commented on the picture. “Woot-Woot! #first,” he wrote, along with a hands-up (praise) emoji and a heart. The possibility of a Friends reunion has, of course, been rumored for many years. This, despite there never really being any strong talk of any such event happening on the big screen or the small screen. Aniston has told Ellen DeGeneres in the past that she’d be open to some sort of reboot or revival or, more likely, one-off event of some kind. But nothing has ever been in the works, which actually may explain why this Instagram actually broke the Internet: Fans may have thought it was a teaser for a confirmed reunion. Alas. Aniston now has an opportunity to amass a million followers faster than any human being to date. Or two million. Or 10 million. By sharing more pictures with Cox, Perry and company? Sure, maybe. But if she wants to guarantee her place in social media history? Aniston simply has to post a picture of herself and Brad Pitt. Kanye West Slut-Shames Kim Kardashian: Stop Dressing Like a Thot!

Last month, we learned that Kanye West had banned North West from wearing makeup , even though her family's brand is built on beauty products. It turns out that his sudden new priorities extend to his wife, too. As you can see in this video, Kanye tried to ban Kim from wearing her planned outfit to the Met Gala because it was “too sexy.” Ugh. On this week's Keeping Up With The Kardashians , Kanye tells Kim at the last minute that her Met Gala outfit is hurting his Man Feelings(TM). “A corset is like a form of underwear,” Kanye asserts while speaking to Kim about his misgivings. Yes and no. Bras were first invented by a woman to replace the corset, but these days, corsets are often worn on their own. “It’s hot,” Kanye acknowledges, but proceeds to frame this as some sort of bad thing. He complains: “It’s, like, it’s hot for who though?” It's for whom , though avoiding speaking like Cookie Monster is the least of Kanye's problems. See, Kim has been working on her Thierry Mugler corset for about a year. Kanye and his “dragon energy” could huff and puff all they liked, but she's not changing her outfit. And she's mad that he even asked. “So the night before the Met,” Kim lays out. “You are going to come in here and say you are not into a corset vibe?” “You give me really bad anxiety,” she accuses him. “What are you talking about?” As with most normal thoughts and feelings, Kanye just didn't seem to understand. “Why is that giving you anxiety to say that?” Kanye asks. “Because you knew last night I was having really bad anxiety,” Kim replies, her annoyance palpable. “And I don’t need any more negative energy,” she continues. “For you to now say that you aren’t into me wearing a tight dress.” Kanye then tries to complain about how sexy his wife is. We're pretty sure that he knew who she was when he married her. “You are my wife,” Kanye states pointlessly. “And it affects me when pictures are too sexy.” That sounds like his problem. We can't imagine whine it should change Kim's behavior. “You built me up to be this like sexy person, and confidence, and all this stuff,” Kim points out. “And just because you are on a journey and you’re on your transformation,” she continues. “Doesn’t mean that I am in the same spot with you.” Very well said. See, Kanye has decided that he's now in a place, spiritually, where his wife's family's brand of being hot and tantalizing isn't for him. He says that, during his time as a rapper, he delighted in all of these unclothed women. Now, he's decided that these aren't for him — and even claims that seeing these women was impacting his soul, somehow. It's fine for him to believe that or to avoid looking at porn or whatever. But banning North from wearing makeup and trying to discourage his wife from living her fashion dreams is not fine. That's not about him anymore. Don't make your spiritual journey somebody's else's business, dude.

Jill Duggar Posts Photo of Baby’s Casket, Receives Major Backlash on Instagram

Usually, Duggar controversies are pretty predictable in nature. They tend to come in one of two varieties: There are the instances in which a member of the family intentionally posts something controversial on social media, such as when Derick Dillard bullied a transgender teen and was fired by TLC as a result. And then there are those cases in which a member of the family behaves in such a way that one is reminded they never learned the basics of human interaction as a result of their profoundly sheltered upbringing. For examples of this, look at any aspect of Josh Duggar’s dating profiles . But the latest scandal involving Jill Duggar is sort of an uneasy combination of these two previously-established types: On Monday, Jill posted the above photo to her Instagram page. “Today has been a really hard day as I watched a couple do what no one should ever have to do…bury their little baby,” she captioned the pic “Although our hearts break here on earth, we look forward to the day when we will see Jesus face to face, he will wipe every tear from our eyes and we will be reunited with those we miss so much,” Jill continued. “Until our race on earth is over, let us live intentionally, glorify God through our lives, serve Him well, fulfilling His purpose for our us until we draw our last breath.” Yes, Jill posted a photo of an infant’s casket. And it would be a massive understatement to say that the decision didn’t sit well with many of her fans. While Jill unquestionably posted something controversial on social media, it seems she did so not with the intention of stirring the pot, but rather as a result of a major blind spot with regard to proper social media etiquette. Jill’s heart may have been in the right place, but followers made it clear that they found her post to be in poor taste: “Not everything has to be an Instagram post, even with the purest intentions. This is insanely tacky of you to post,” one person wrote, as pointed out by OK! magazine. “Why would you post a picture of someone’s baby in a casket? You are so tacky,” another fan added. “Hopefully she got permission to post this,” a third commenter remarked. “With the Duggars being in the spotlight & [having] more than the average person viewing their profiles, it’s certainly not appropriate to post stuff like this unless given permission.” Other fans were even harsher in their criticism: “This is someone else’s deepest heartbreak. I hope you rethink this post and delete it,” one user commented. “Oh boy hope you rethink this post…this is such a private heartbreaking thing…not your story to tell,” another wrote. Many also pointed out that the post is poorly-timed, as it may well trigger painful memories for one of Jill’s sisters. Joy-Anna Duggar suffered a miscarriage in July, and is still so distraught by the loss that was forced to leave Amy Duggar’s baby shower in distress. Again, we imagine Jill’s suffering on behalf of her friends is genuine — but her post may not have been the best way to express her compassion.
