Miley Cyrus Engaged To Liam Hemsworth

‘I’m so happy to be engaged and looking forward to a life of happiness with Liam,’ Cyrus says. By Gil Kaufman Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus Photo: Getty Images Sometimes on-set romances blossom into the real thing. That’s clearly the case with Miley Cyrus and “Hunger Games”
star Liam Hemsworth
, who announced on Wednesday (June 6) that they are engaged. “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Cyrus, 19, told People magazine. The couple have been dating for three years since meeting on the set of “The Last Song” in 2009. Australian actor Hemsworth, 22, Cyrus’ co-star in that film, proposed to the pop country star on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring. Earlier this year the couple denied that they were planning a wedding
after Cyrus was spotted with what some thought was an engagement ring. Cyrus began dating Hemsworth shortly after ending a nine-month relationship with model Justin Gaston. It was been an up-and-down ride ever since, with a break-up
in August 2010, a reconciliation and then another split later that year and a second reunion in April 2011. In an interview with Details magazine earlier this year, Hemsworth said he tried to be professional on the set of “Last Song,” but could not help falling in love with his co-star. “What happened happened, and we’ve been together ever since,” he said. “She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something.” life is beautiful — Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) June 6, 2012 Early Wednesday morning Cyrus tweeted the phrase , “life is beautiful,” but has not made any further comments on the engagement. The couple will be busy in the lead up to their not-yet-scheduled nuptials, with Cyrus working on her fourth studio album and Hemsworth filming the movie “Empire State” in New Orleans. After that, he’s off to co-star in the thriller “Paranoia” with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman and then work will begin on the second “Hunger Games” installment. MTV Movie Awards Celebrate Dirtbags In New Category

Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston among the deliciously despicable characters up for Best On-Screen Dirtbag award. By Kevin P. Sullivan Jennifer Aniston in “Horrible Bosses” Photo: Warner Bros. While the MTV Movie Awards are all about celebrating the best from the past year in film, they’re also about shining a light on the very worst. This year, we’re introducing a brand-new category for all the deliciously despicable characters: Best On-Screen Dirtbag. We’ve broken down all the nominees in the category below, but it’s up to you to vote one member of this detestable quintet to the podium to collect his or her Golden Popcorn. We will all find out who the worst of the worst is this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET live on MTV. Bryce Dallas Howard – “” If an on-screen dirtbag does his or her job properly, naturally the audience will beg for some comeuppance. Without a doubt, none of this year’s love-to-hate-’em nominees got it worse than Bryce Dallas Howard’s horribly racist Miss Hilly. Apparently, revenge is a dish best served in the form of a chocolate pie made out of human feces. Colin Farrell – ” Horrible Bosses ” Even if it weren’t for the cocaine addiction and his propensity for firing those that “creep him out,” Colin Farrell’s character in last summer’s hit comedy “Horrible Bosses” may have ended up on the short list for On-Screen Dirtbag for that comb-over alone. Sometimes a poor choice of hairstyle can be just as bad as a person’s behavior. Jennifer Aniston – ” Horrible Bosses ” There’s nothing wrong with a small workplace crush as long as human resources has been notified, you keep your conversations work-appropriate, and you don’t spray your co-worker’s pants with water in order to see the outline of his junk. Jennifer Aniston’s character in “Horrible Bosses” did not heed any of these rules as she aggressively tried to seduce her dental hygienist, played by Charlie Day. Jon Hamm – ” Bridesmaids ” Sure, he might seem like a great guy. He’s rich, and hell, he looks like Jon Hamm, but Ted is not a man you want to be around. He does that thing that can only be described by Kristen Wiig as she drags that back of her limp hand across her face. It’s not pretty. Oliver Cooper – ” Project X ” Sometimes dirtbags are funny. One of our nominees this year, Oliver Cooper of “Project X,” has the distinct honor of earning nominations for both Best Comedic Performance and Best On-Screen Dirtbag. And that’s the beautiful balance that Costa strikes. Yes, he’s going to turn up the speed on the treadmill that you’re running on, but you’ll probably laugh about it later. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live this Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET. ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ Will Have ‘Kick-Ass’ Battle Sequence

At Movie Awards, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone tease favorite moments from November release. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Nikki Reed Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — As fans face the end of “The Twilight Saga” in November with the release of “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” they are beginning to wonder what the best scenes in the highly anticipated release might be. Well, when MTV News caught up with Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , they (sort of) revealed the one scene they are each looking forward to Twi-hards seeing later this year. “Yes! Oh, man! I can’t really talk about it, though. I’m not allowed to,” Rathbone said. “If you just noticed, I went to a happy place and I think everybody’s going to really love it. The littlest hints? It’s awesome.” While it’ll be a while before we see what that awesome yet vague scene is, Reed had some more specific details for her #1 pick. “Well, you never know what’s going to end up in there. Let’s see … There was a pretty kick-ass battle sequence that I did with two of the other girls that I think should be pretty cool, if they leave it in there,” she said. “So I’m looking forward to that ’cause we trained for it for a while.” She then gave just enough extra information to keep fans salivating until November when they take their last bite out of the franchise. “[We did] a little fight training. It was me and Ashley [Greene] and Kristen [Stewart], and we did this like three girls back-to-back thing where we beat up some huge dudes,” she recalled. “That’s always fun.” At the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” won Movie of the Year and Best Kiss . ‘Twilight’ Cast Marvels Over Four-Year Movie Awards Dominance

‘Breaking Dawn’ stars talk to MTV News about the ‘honor’ of meeting Jodie Foster, who presented the Movie of the Year award. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jackson Rathbone Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — On Sunday night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , the cast of “Twilight” picked up a few more Golden Popcorn trophies to add to their collective mantle. In addition to winning Movie of the Year, they also won Best Kiss , marking fourth time the series has won in both categories. “A little tired, a little surprised, honored to be up there with [presenter] Jodie Foster and honored to be in the ranking with a lot of amazing films this year,” Jackson Rathbone told MTV News. “So thank you very much, world.” Given who they were up against in the Movie of the Year category, including “The Hunger Games,” co-star Julia Jones actually wasn’t sure they could win again. “There’s a lot of competition this year, and I think for the first time I was like ‘I don’t know.’ There’s some really amazingly large franchises now,” she said. “And I guess we’re still winning.” Rathbone added, “As we’re wrapping up, to have so much love still and you gave us a four-peat, so thank you. That’s something that not a lot of people can say.” BooBoo Stewart went on to describe how “incredible” it felt to take the stage to accept the award. “Just to be up on that stage accepting an award, in front of everybody and feeling the love from the fans was really cool.” Nikki Reed said what was even more incredible was having Foster hand them the prize. “She put her hand out after we walked offstage and I just ‘Oh my god, it’s a real honor.’ ” Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. MTV Movie Awards Go Live Tonight! Who Will Win Big?

The Girl on Fire and the Boy Who Lived are destined for Golden Popcorn greatness, while big things are in store for ‘Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Magic Mike’ fans as well. By Josh Wigler Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Happy MTV Movie Awards day, and may the odds be ever in your favor! You have no shortage of films and stars to root for when tuning into the big show tonight (June 3) at 9 p.m. ET, and that only makes the decisions harder. How can you possibly choose between supporting the Boy Who Lived’s last night at the Movie Awards and Katniss Everdeen’s first time in the arena? Too much pressure! Still, as in every competition, there will be winners and losers at this year’s show, with plenty of cause for triumph and heartbreak. And while we’re still hours away from knowing exactly who those victors are, we’ve got some sneaking suspicions about who will wind up owning the night. Keep reading for our predictions: “The Hunger Games” Before Iron Man and the rest of “The Avengers” sucked all the air out of the box office, 2012’s biggest commercial titan was the Girl on Fire. Tonight at the Movie Awards, Katniss doesn’t have to worry about Earth’s mightiest heroes — only Captain America and Thor are nominated for Best Hero , and it will take a miracle to boost them to the top — and can instead focus on main rivals “Bridesmaids” and “Harry Potter.” Fans have rallied behind “Hunger Games” in a massive way over the past year, and with a leading nine nominations to its name, the odds are most certainly in this movie’s favor for ruling the show tonight. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” This is Harry’s final time to shine at the Movie Awards. As the fourth highest-grossing picture of all time, it’s safe to say that there are more than a few fans hoping for some good old-fashioned “Deathly Hallows” domination. Best Cast should be a lock for “Potter,” if only to acknowledge the phenomenal work of scenery-chewers Alan Rickman and Ralph Fiennes. It’s neck-and-neck between Potter and Katniss for Best Hero, but we’re placing our money on the Boy Wizard. And a Movie of the Year win is not out of the question, either. It has a huge obstacle to overcome in the increasingly hot “Hunger Games,” but as Lord Voldemort learned the hard way, you can never put Potter down for the count. “The Dark Knight Rises” Fans No matter who you’re rooting for at the Movie Awards, it’s the fans who will walk away the winners — Batman fans in particular. Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman will all be on hand to present exclusive “Dark Knight Rises” footage at the show, in case you haven’t heard. Though we’re still in the dark regarding what exactly we’ll see, Movie Awards director Hamish Hamilton has seen the top-secret footage, and he’s “telling you, it’s good.” Expect this footage to be the talk of the town (or at least the Twitterverse) long after the show ends. Shirtless-Men Enthusiasts Another someone with an outside shot at dominating the Movie Awards conversation tonight is Channing Tatum, who finds himself nominated for multiple awards, including Best Kiss and Best Hero. Don’t count on him winning either of those awards — the former is all “Twilight,” and the latter is a battle of the bows and wands — but who needs a Golden Popcorn statuette when you have abs to put Taylor Lautner to shame? There’s growing buzz that Tatum is going to bring some of his “Magic Mike” shirtless magic to Movie Awards viewers tonight, so if you’re a fan of hot men sans clothes, you might be this year’s biggest winner. Russell Brand Finally, hats off to the man who’s going to keep the trains powered by farts tonight: Russell Brand, host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Mark Wahlberg’s threats aside, we’re very confident Brand is going to absolutely tear it up at the show this year, if his past performances as host of the VMAs are any indication. Besides, Brand is allowed to do whatever he wants tonight — group sex , anyone? Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to cast your vote for Best Hero and Best Movie now! How Did Jennifer Lawrence Get An Arrow In The Head?

Get an exclusive first look at ‘Hunger Games’ star’s MTV Movie Awards appearance; short film producer Jordan Rubin fills us in! By Kara Warner Photo: MTV That old adage about a picture being worth a thousand words is particularly appropriate for this sneak peek of “Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence’s appearance in a short film set to debut during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3). The photo clearly shows Lawrence with an arrow through her head, and given her unimpressed, annoyed expression when the pic was snapped, she doesn’t look too pleased about the situation. But not to worry: The arrow through her head is all for the sake of Movie Awards comedy, for which Lawrence was totally game. MTV News recently caught up with Movie Awards short film producer Jordan Rubin to get the behind-the-scenes scoop about how Lawrence came to be involved. “The idea generated from this year being the year of archery,” Rubin said. “Archery has really come back in a big way, so it seemed like a good thing to do as a jumping-off point for some comedy. “You have ‘The Hunger Games,’ Jeremy Renner [as Hawkeye] in ‘Avengers,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman,’ also ‘Brave’ is coming out,” Rubin added. “It’s good comedy fodder, and Jen totally got it. We were so happy she made time.” According to Rubin, the short film revolves around an archery coach who is not necessarily liked by a lot of people in the industry. It features Joel McHale and a cameo from Lawrence. “[Lawrence] was really funny and gave us a lot of different options and was great at the comedy,” Rubin said. Robert Pattinson: KStew Will ‘Kiss Herself’ At Movie Awards

Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are up for their fourth Best Kiss award at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, airing Sunday at 9 p.m. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Laura Whitmore Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News There are only a few more hours left to cast your votes for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards , and should you need more reason to throw your support behind four-time Best Kiss nominees and three-time winners Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson , we have one for you, courtesy of Pattinson himself. When MTV UK recently caught up with the actor during an early press day for his highly anticipated film “Cosmopolis,” we asked him about his chances in bringing home a fourth golden popcorn trophy for his smooch with Stewart in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” and if they have plans to make a creative acceptance speech if they win. “I don’t know,” he said. “We didn’t get nominated for anything else. I’m like, ‘Grr,’ ” Pattinson joked about their film’s two nominations this year, versus the multiple nominations in previous years. “[I won’t be there because] I have to be in Toronto for ‘Cosmopolis,’ but I think Kristen is going so she’s going to kiss herself if she wins.” When asked about the specifics of Stewart’s plans for kissing herself, Pattinson didn’t want to give too much away. “People have to vote [to see]!” he said with a laugh. So what does Pattinson’s leading lady think of their chances for winning the award a fourth year in a row? “You know, you can’t have too many expectations going into that,” Stewart told MTV News recently during her appearance at our Sneak Peek Week Q&A for “Snow White and the Huntsman.” “There’s a lot going into that, just to be there is a huge honor. The 22-year-old actress went on to say that she is still surprised to have taken home any Best Kiss awards, given the very memorable onscreen kisses performed by previous winners. “When I was young, the [Best] Kiss was always a big thing, that’s why winning always [seemed impossible]. I think the ‘Spider-Man’ [kiss] I always imagined, ‘You’re never going to be able [to live up to that] and then the ‘Notebook’ [kiss] happened and then [I thought], ‘I’m never going to try and top those.’ ” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Lady Gaga’s New Album Will Be ‘Insane’

‘Look out for the unexpected when it comes to her,’ Gaga’s co-manager says of the follow-up to Born This Way. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty Images If there’s one positive that Lady Gaga fans can take from her decision to cancel a June 3 concert in Indonesia , perhaps it’s this: at least she’ll have more time to work on her album. Yes, though she’s currently in the midst of a two-year world tour, Gaga is already hard at work on the follow-up to 2011’s Born This Way and, according to her co-manager, she’s going to push the boundaries even further this time around (which is sure to please those Indonesian Islamic groups ). “There’s a lot of work to come, [I’m] very excited about it,” Vincent Herbert revealed in a new interview with website That Grape Juice. “[It’s] just [an] insane, great record. She’s on tour right now, but it’s just going to be a great record. Look out for the unexpected when it comes to her. We’re doing it on the road right now, so it’s a little hard, but it’s going to be great.” Herbert wouldn’t reveal specifics — tentative release date, title, who she’s been working with, etc. — about the new album, but the news that she’s recording on the road is actually in keeping with the way she began work on Born This Way, when standout tracks like “Marry The Night” took shape with producer Fernando Garibay during her long-running Monster Ball Tour. “I just kind of got on the American leg of the tour … and she goes, ‘I want to write another song that can define where I’m at with this album and my life,’ ” Garibay told MTV News last year. “I go back to the studio bus; I’m just working on parts … and then, two hours later, she comes offstage and she goes, ‘Do you have something to play me?’ And I go, ‘I do, actually.’ “So I played her the instrumental for ‘Marry the Night,’ and she goes, ‘Open up a mic,’ ” Garibay continued. “She starts laying down the whole song, like, off the cuff … right off the stage, using the energy of that crowd and going into the studio, it was amazing. I can’t compare it to anything.” What do you hope the Born This Way follow-up will sound like? Tell us in the comments section! Related Artists Lady Gaga

The Bridesmaids Vs. Ryan Gosling: Who Wrenched Your Guts?

Five cringe-worthy scenes vie for the Best Gut-Wrenching Performance at the MTV Movie Awards. Vote for your pick on MTV.com! By Kara Warner Ryan Gosling in “Drive” Photo: FilmDistrict Of all the unique and outlandish categories that the MTV Movie Awards have been known for each year, 2012’s new addition, Best Gut-Wrenching Performance , might be the most unique, outlandish and downright cringe-worthy of all. So what is a gut-wrenching moment? For our purposes, it is that one unforgettable scene in a recent movie that was so outrageous, disturbing or just plain gross that you had a physical reaction whilst watching it. A literal wrenching of your guts. No matter your reaction to this year’s very diverse nominees, be it the poo pies, head stomping or group food poisoning, we can almost guarantee the nominated moments in this new category left an impression on you. Here’s a closer look at those five gut-wrenching movie moments: Bryce Dallas-Howard, “The Help” For those who’ve seen “The Help,” there’s not much to say about this other than revenge is best served cold, in the form of a poo-laced pie. In the scene, Dallas-Howard — a double nominee this year — who plays the cringe-worthy and hateful villain Hilly Holbrook, scarfs down what looks to be a delicious chocolate pie. Hilly and the audience soon find out that the pie has an extra “special” ingredient: poop. Jonah Hill and Rob Riggle, “21 Jump Street” Moving on to our next nominee, from poop to a detached penis. (Did we mention these moments are gut-wrenching?) In the final few minutes of one of the year’s funniest comedies, “21 Jump Street,” Jonah Hill accidentally shoots off Rob Riggle’s penis, after which the handcuffed and injured party is forced to retrieve his dismembered man parts with his mouth. Bonus fact about this scene: Riggle improvised the mouth pick-up . Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper, “Bridesmaids” While there are multiple memorable scenes in “Bridesmaids,” one of them stands out as the messiest. While shopping at a swanky boutique for their dresses, the bride and her five bridesmaids are simultaneously hit with a tidal wave of food poisoning that causes them to lose their lunch in every conceivable way. Ryan Gosling, “Drive” While Ryan Gosling made many women swoon with his wooing of Emma Stone in “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” his turn as the cold, calculated and deadly driver in “Drive” had the opposite effect. Gosling’s most gut-wrenching scene is a furious display of skull stomping never before seen on film. Talk about cringe-worthy, that elevator stomp is off the charts. Tom Cruise, “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” This last nominated moment is the least gross of the bunch and also the most impressive given the physical feat achieved to produce it. In “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” Tom Cruise’s super spy Ethan Hunt scales the planet’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, in a race against a nuclear clock. Cruise actually performed the stunt, which required him to dangle a mere 2,700 feet from the ground. Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now!
