Hi friends, you’re back at ClevverTV, and I’m Dana Ward with some amazing 411 on Justin Bieber. According to his Twitter, fans can expect a new album to come out this year! That’s right guys, JB tweeted quote, “been writing alot of songs on the road. excited to just get this music out later this year and record this summer.” He concluded the tweet with two hashtags that read BELIEVE and NewMusic. As we found out last year, Ne-Yo is helping Justin write the songs on this new album, and he said previously that he wants to emphasize his more mature side. He said he wants Justin to make the kinds of records that grow with him and also allow his fans to grow with him. Ne-Yo also said this new album won’t include any quote “bubblegum kiddie stuff.” Wow, sounds like Justin’s new album is going to be amazing! Are you guys excited about it? By the year 2013, IMAX theaters and Kodak will bring digital theatrical projection to the next level with a single, exciting, futuristic-sounding concept: LASERS ! The companies announced their partnership today in a statement promising advances in quality projection in large-scale IMAX and dome theaters in the coming years to benefit moviegoers, theaters, and investors. Win-win-win?

Scotty McCreery: How Does He Rank Among ‘Idol’ Debuts?

That was the date Ruben Studdard ‘s Soulful opened at #1 on the Billboard albums chart. And somewhat incredibly, it’s also the last time a debut disc from an “American Idol” champion accomplished the feat. Sure, there have been some near-misses along the way, but since Studdard, none have been able to bow at #1, a streak that spanned some 2,859 days (or 4,116,960 minutes, in case you were counting). It’s also a streak that officially came to an end on Wednesday (October 12), with the rather eye-opening #1 debut by “Idol” season 10 champion Scotty McCreery, whose Clear As Day sold nearly 197,000 copies to take the top spot. It’s the highest first-week number for an “American Idol” winner since David Cook sold almost 280,000 copies of his self-titled debut in 2008 and, given the recent lack of chart success from “Idol” champs, it’s an even more impressive feat. Because, while some “Idol” also-rans (Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, etc) have managed to move units, the contemporary crop of champions have suffered poor first-week sales. Thanks to the support of the country music crowd, McCreery has managed to buck that trend. But where, exactly, do Clear As Day ‘s first-week numbers rank among the debuts by other “American Idol” winners? We’ve crunched the figures, along with the chart positions, below:

LL Cool J Salutes Hip-Hop’s Growth At BET Awards

By Rob Markman LL Cool J Photo: MTV News Who would’ve thought that hip-hop would take it this far? When he got his start in 1984, LL Cool J remembers how the genre was marginalized in the media, but Tuesday night’s 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards are a definite sign of the times. “When we first started the music, they didn’t even play it on the radio in the daytime,” BET’s I Am Hip Hop Icon Award winner told MTV News on the show’s black carpet. “Hip-hop was two hours at night or an hour at night on the weekends, and that was it. So to go from an hour or two hours at night to entire award shows and whole generations of people whose lives have been changed just because they’re involved with the music, that’s a big thing.” The awards shows started off with a bang. Young Jeezy opened with his new single “F.A.M.E.” and gave way to T.I. on the song’s final verse, marking the first television appearance for the King of the South since his prison release in September. Lil Wayne — who was nominated for an astounding 18 awards — took home five, while Busta Rhymes accepted four on behalf of his absent “Look at Me Now” collaborator Chris Brown. Nicki Minaj was named MVP of the Year, while Wiz Khalifa took home the Rookie of the Year award. Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy won CD of the Year, and Jay-Z was crowned Hustler of the Year. The show’s live performances were something to marvel at, as DMX and Swizz Beatz surprised viewers with a medley of classics. Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa rocked spirited sets, while Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group performed their singles “That Way” and “Ima Boss.” Rap icon Heavy D closed out the show, but the real highlights were the rap ciphers . B.o.B, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Tech N9ne, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Rick Ross all participated in the rap segments, while DJ Premier curated the rhyme showcase. “It makes me feel good to be a person that contributed, that helped make this happen,” LL said. So Much for Oscar; Soderbergh’s Liberace Goes to HBO

Earlier this year producer Jerry Weintraub predicted Oscar gold for one of his upcoming pet projects, the Steven Soderbergh -helmed Liberace biopic. “I’ve got a great script, it’s a great story, and they’re great characters,” he enthused to Movieline. “That’s what I make movies about. It’s going to win an Academy Award… for Michael Douglas .” Well, not so fast.

Paramore Announce ‘Singles Club,’ New Album In 2012

Band will make new songs available to fans strictly on their website and say new music is on the horizon. After kicking off 2011 by telling MTV News they’d “definitely” release new music in spite of the departure of Josh and Zac Farro, they spent the ensuing months teasing fans with demo clips and live versions of those songs (not to mention one brand-new single, “Monster,” ). Now Paramore have finally announced plans to release the tunes … via a good old-fashioned “Singles Club.” “For months now, we’ve promised that we’d be releasing some new songs before the end of the year. Well, here is where we finally make good on all that,” the band wrote in a statement on their official site . “We are very happy to announce the ‘Paramore Singles Club’ that will be happening throughout the rest of the year. This club is our way of getting these songs directly to the Paramore family.” The band is making three new songs available — “In the Mourning,” “Renegades” and a brand-new, previously unreleased track called “Hello Cold World” — to fans in a variety of specially priced packages. Everything from a bare-bones download ($2.99) to a deluxe download/ T-shirt bundle that also comes with a limited-edition 7″ box set due for release at the end of the year (the latter option will run you $54.99). In a few weeks, Paramore will drop one new song, “Renegades,” which the band premiered live at last month’s Fueled by Ramen 15th-anniversary celebration in New York, is the first out of the gate. And though the new tunes will no doubt satiate fans, Paramore also let it be known that there’s even more music coming in the near future … because they plan to hit the studio soon to begin work on the follow-up to 2009’s Brand New Eyes. “We really wanted to do something special for all of you around the holidays to thank you for making 2011 so amazing and sticking with us as we go into 2012 and start working on a new album,” they wrote. “So, without making this any longer than it already is, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in us.” Related Videos Paramore: The Complete Interview Related Artists Paramore

Adele ‘Truly Devastated’ To Cancel U.S. Tour

By Kara Warner Adele Photo: MTV This year’s chart-dominating diva Adele has once again been forced to cancel tour dates due to illness. According to her record label, the “Someone Like You” singer suffered a hemorrhage in her vocal cord and she will now have to cancel her upcoming sold-out 10-city tour. The hemorrhage seems a more serious condition than the laryngitis she suffered when she was forced to cancel other dates earlier this year. Adele expressed sadness in being forced to cancel the tour via an emotional post on her website: “Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobbie, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever. I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this,” she wrote. “Wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as I’m sure you know! “My voice is weak and I need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab [soon] and start building my over all stamina in my voice, body and mind,” she continued. “I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again. I apologise from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do. I know it’s not only disappointing because of the show, but it’s plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted. But please have faith in me that this is the only thing I can do to make sure I can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability. Truly yours and yours only forever, Adele xx” The British songbird has had a killer year, smashing music records left and right She is the first female to land two singles and two albums in the U.K. top five simultaneously — which only the Beatles had achieved back in 1963. Her sophomore album, 21, is the first album in U.K. chart history to sell 3 million copies in one calendar year, and it has spent the most consecutive weeks at #1 ever by a solo female, 11, beating a record previously held by Madonna’s The Immaculate Collection. Adele also logged the most cumulative weeks with a U.K. #1 for a solo female (18), beating out Alanis Morissette and Shania Twain, who shared the previous record at 11 weeks.
