Drake Says He And Lil Wayne Are Planning A Joint Album

‘I went up to Rikers, and me and Wayne agreed that there will be a Lil Wayne/ Drake album,’ he tells MTV’s ‘Sucker Free.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Drake and Lil Wayne Photo: the305.com A Young Angel and Young Lion LP? It’s finally in the works, according to Drake. The Toronto MC said he and Lil Wayne spoke about a joint album when he visited the incarcerated star last week in prison. “I went up to Rikers, and me and Wayne agreed that there will be a Lil Wayne/ Drake album,” Drake told DJ Envy on MTV’s “Sucker Free.” ” … There’s some things I’m excited for in my life — I’m excited to go perform certain places — but [this project] will probably be one of the most exciting things in my life, because we make music on a different level. It’s just so fun, so comfortable. A whole album? To think about all the things we can do, especially if we’re gonna do 15 songs. Me and him don’t like to do 12, 13 [songs]. We want to do 15, 16. Yeah, Lil Wayne and Drake album.” Wayne is only featured once on Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, which drops June 15. The Cash Money superstar and Drizzy collaborated on a number of projects in the past, including Drake’s mixtapes Comeback Season and So Far Gone, in addition to the Young Money compilation released last year. But this will be the first time the two MCs pair up for their own project. Last year, while on the verge of inking his deal, Drake told MTV News about his career ambitions and said Lil Wayne would be a part of them for a long time. “I plan to work with Wayne for the rest of my career, so I think it’s a smart career move,” he said. “You know, everybody else [on Young Money] will hopefully work out the situations, get the right people on the album. I think it was important for me to show him that I believed in him as much as he believed in me. Because a lot of months, he stuck his neck out there for me, you know with the VMAs [where Lil Wayne rapped Drake’s verse from ‘Money to Blow’ at the beginning of his performance of ‘Misunderstood’] and then ‘Ransom,’ and all the songs that we put out. And the things he would say in interviews, he really put himself out there for me. So I think it was only just and fair to show him that I feel the same way.” For more Drake, check him out with DJ Envy on the road for Sucker Free Summer at Hartford, Connecticut’s Hot Jam 9 this Sunday at noon on MTV2. Drake ‘Didn’t Respect’ Lil’ Kim Dissing Nicki Minaj

‘That just wasn’t G to me at all,’ he tells MTV’s ‘Sucker Free’ of Kim’s onstage comments. By Shaheem Reid Drake and Nicki Minaj Photo: MTV News Drake said that, even without an album, Nicki Minaj is the best female MC to ever do it. So the 23-year-old MC was pretty ticked off at Lil’ Kim and Ray J’s recent onstage comments that Minaj is biting Kim’s style and that Nicki needs to pay homage to her. Drake elaborated on his anger while talking to DJ Envy on MTV’s “Sucker Free” over the weekend. “I feel like Lil’ Kim is a G in the game. I feel like you’re a part of an era that’s classic, that we’ll never forget as young kids, me and Nick,” he said of his Young Money family member. “You don’t have to do that. You don’t have to get onstage and tell people to pay homage; that’s a given. I’ve watched Nicki pay homage time and time again. I didn’t respect [Kim’s comments] at all. Whoever else was onstage with her, I didn’t respect that at all. You just wearing your heat on your sleeve. You’re showing that you’re upset. Nobody’s done that to me yet. I would never expect Jay or ‘Ye to get onstage and be like, ‘Pay homage to me. You need to respect me.’ They know they command my respect with their music and talent. I feel that’s signs you’re just losing it. I really did take that personally. That bothered me. I really don’t get caught up with the Twitter and Internet stuff, but I did see it. And I feel like you’re supposed to be a G. That just wasn’t G to me at all.” For her part, Lil’ Kim told Philadelphia radio host Kendra G on Philly 100.3 on Saturday that “all females that come in the game, we need to stick together, and I always try my best to embrace them. But what happens is, when they come in the game and they realize that I’m not going away, and my fans are still here and they can’t just step on me, they get upset, and then they don’t want to be my friend anymore. I think that’s really childish and stupid. Because all I ask for is respect, and I show the same respect back. Pay homage. At the end of the day, a lot of things go on behind the scenes that people don’t know about. It will be aired out, because you can’t hide the truth.” Nicki hasn’t spoken in public about Kim’s comments, but she has hinted on her Twitter page that she is taking the high road. “Raise ya hand if u don’t have 2 diss ppl to feel better about urself,” she wrote on Thursday. “Jealousy is a disease. It kills @ a fast pace. Kisses 2 my bad bi—es” Do you think Lil’ Kim was out of line in her comments to Nicki Minaj? Let us know below! Related Artists Nicki Minaj Drake

What’s The All-Time Best ‘Sex And The City’ Episode? Stars Make Their Picks!

‘The City’ co-stars Whitney Port and Roxy Olin, ‘Hills’ star Stephanie Pratt and more weigh in. By Jocelyn Vena Whitney Port Photo: MTV News With the highly anticipated “Sex and the City 2” about to hit theaters on Thursday, MTV News asked some of the show’s biggest celebrity fans to dish on their favorite episodes from the TV series, which aired from 1998 to 2004 before spinning off into the films. There were a lot of fabulous episodes to choose from, but Roxy Olin, who stars in “The City,” another show single women living in Manhattan, said “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” from season two was a standout for her. In that story line, Carrie discovers the perfect way to get over one of her many breakups with Mr. Big. “At the Yankee game, when she goes and gets with the Yankee … I just remember that so clearly,” Olin told MTV News. “And she was drunk or something at the game. There’s so many moments in ‘Sex and the City,’ I can go on and on and on.” “Twilight” star Elizabeth Reaser went with season-three episode “What Comes Around, Goes Around,” which finds Carrie involuntarily parting from one of her most prized possessions. “Love the moment where she gets robbed,” Reaser laughed. “I think she gets mugged for her shoes.” “The Post-It Always Sticks Twice,” which aired during season 6, still tops the list for many “SATC” fans, including “The Hills” star Stephanie Pratt and “Hills” alumna Whitney Port. In the episode, Carrie’s writer beau Berger breaks up with her via the sticky paper. “When Carrie gets broken up with on the Post-it note, and they go to the downtown bar,” Pratt recalled of the shaken Carrie and her pals. “Maybe when she gets broken up with on the Post-It?” said “The City” star Port of the same episode. “That’s so sad!” At the “Sex and the City 2” premiere in New York City on Monday, Port revealed that of the four ladies, she connected most to the Manolo Blahnik-loving Carrie. “I think I relate to Carrie probably the most,” she said. “Because I think careerwise, [my path is] like the path that she took.” What’s your favorite “SATC” episode? Lil Wayne And Nicki Minaj’s ‘Knockout’ Video — Check Out A Preview!

That clip, plus three other brand-new ones, will premiere during MTV Jams’ Lil Tunechi Weekend. By Shaheem Reid Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Photo: Young Money Lil Tunechi Weekend: ‘Knockout’ (Featuring Nicki Minaj) White backdrop, green screen, a guitar and a very sexy co-star — Lil Wayne’s “Knockout” video is perfect for Memorial Day weekend, when that clip and three others from Weezy’s Rebirth will debut on MTV Jams. On Tuesday, we brought you a sneak peek of the “Da Da Da” video ; now, we have a preview of “Knockout,” featuring Nicki Minaj. “Knockout” is audacious and sexy with Wayne and Nicki playing off each other. The duo meet in a pink locker room as Wayne — toting his guitar — sings to the Young Money leading lady: “Hey, Barbie! Are you into black men?/ Hey, Barbie! I can be your black Ken/ Wow! ‘Cause once you go black, you never go back/ She wore her hair black, with curls in the back.” Nicki wears her hair half blond, half blue and sings the chorus: “Baby 1, 2, 3/ Tell ’em get the referee/ ‘Cause he can get the knockout/ If the telephone rings/ It’s emergency/ ‘Cause he can get the knockout.” “Knockout” is one of nine videos Wayne shot during Super Bowl weekend in Miami in anticipation of his current yearlong prison sentence, which started in March. Minaj said Weezy’s work ethic is amazing and should be emulated. “To not have him here, it’s like a life lesson for all of us — always work as if we have no one else to depend on — and that’s what he teaches us,” Nicki said during the mtvU Spring Break festivities. “He did, like, 1,000 videos before he went in, knowing that he had to go to jail. A lot of us wouldn’t do that. A lot of us would be curled up on a ball like, ‘Oh my God, my life is about to be over.’ So shout-out to Lil Wayne. We’re honored that he chose each and every one of us, handpicked us. And we love him.” “Knockout” features a cameo from the Birdman and was directed by Jeffrey Panzer and Wayne himself. This weekend, MTV Jams will also be debuting “Runnin’ ” (featuring Shannell), “Get a Life” and “Da Da Da.” Which of the four new Wayne videos are you most excited to see this weekend? Diddy Says Nicki Minaj Is ‘One Of The Great Ones’

‘Nicki is up there. Her story has just begun,’ the mogul says of managing the Young Money MC. By Jayson Rodriguez Diddy Photo: MTV News Diddy is expanding his empire. The mogul recently announced the opening of a management firm that he’ll oversee in addition to his existing business holdings, which include a restaurant, clothing line and, of course, Bad Boy Records. Rick Ross was the first to ink with Diddy , describing the knowledge Diddy has as “priceless.” And now, Nicki Minaj is finalizing the paperwork that will allow the Last Train to Paris superstar to guide her career. The Young Money femcee has already been in the studio with Diddy, and he’s been singing her praises. “Nicki Minaj, she’s definitely one of the great ones,” Diddy told MTV News, speaking publicly for the first time about his new signee. “She has a long way to go, but you know how we recognized LeBron [James] was a great one, Tiger [Woods] was a great one, and Kobe [Bryant] was a great one? Nicki is up there. Her story has just begun.” So far, Nicki Minaj has released only one single, the Sean Garrett-assisted “Massive Attack,” which boasts a Hype Williams-directed video. But she’s been prominently featured on a slew of other artist’s records, including Ludacris’ “My Chick Bad,” Robin Thicke’s “Shakin’ It 4 Daddy” and Mariah Carey’s “Up Out My Face.” In February, the Queens lyricist spoke with MTV News and said she’s in no rush to release her yet-untitled debut. “With the album, just like with my mixtape, I never like to rush it,” Minaj explained. “With the album, I think it’s more important that people get accustomed to seeing a female rapper again. Before I drop an album, people need to come out and see. People don’t even know what a female rapper does. We’re so not used to seeing it. “It’s nonexistent in categories. We don’t get nominated. I need to work [the people] up to accepting a female rapper again and accepting my style and all of that — then the album will come. Honestly, I’d love to put an album out this year, but I don’t believe in rushing things either. We’ll see.” Do you think Diddy will do a good job of managing artists like Nicki Minaj? Drake’s Thank Me Later Track List Revealed

Previously unannounced guest stars include Young Jeezy, T.I. and Swizz Beatz. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images The wait for one of hip-hop’s most heavily anticipated debut albums is almost over, with less than a month until Drake’s Thank Me Later is released. The track list for the project, set to drop June 15, leaked online Tuesday (May 20) via the rapper’s most dedicated fan site, AllThings-Fresh.net . The lineup features an array of A-list talent, including Young Jeezy, T.I. and Swizz Beatz and the already-announced Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, The-Dream and Lil Wayne. Fellow Young Money member Nicki Minaj will also make a guest turn on “Up All Night.” A representative for Drake did not respond to requests for comment at press time, but a source at his parent label, Universal/Motown Records, confirmed the track list to MTV News. Drake has said in the past that he didn’t want Thank Me Later, his first release since breakthrough mixtape So Far Gone, to be laden with features. “I really don’t bank on collaborations unless it makes sense,” Drake said. “If I get people’s verses back and they don’t coincide with the vision I have, I’ll do the whole album by myself. I’m not really worried about the special guests. It’s about linking to me and my story. There’s people that just add to my story.” During a tour stop in L.A. last week, Drake revealed that Alicia Keys would appear on the album’s first track, “Fireworks.” The Toronto MC spoke to MTV News late last year about the Jay-Z-assisted song “Light Up,” which he described as “phenomenal.” Several Thank Me Later tracks, among them “Shut It Down” (featuring The-Dream) and “Miss Me” (featuring Lil Wayne) have already popped up online. “Miss Me” is slated to be Drake’s third single, following “Over” and “Find Your Love.” Drake described “Miss Me” in a previous interview, explaining the concept as a “straightforward” number reflecting the circumstances of his and Wayne’s lives. “It’s a song about being away from what you love and hoping that when you’re gone, doing you, somebody out there misses you,” he said. “It goes for Wayne in his situation, and it goes for me in my situation, ’cause I’m on the road for I don’t how long right now.” The Thank Me Later track list, according to Universal/Motown: 1. “Fireworks” (featuring Alicia Keys) 2. “Karaoke” 3. “The Resistance” 4. “Over” 5. “Show Me a Good Time” 6. “Up All Night” (featuring Nicki Minaj) 7. “Fancy” (featuring T.I. and Swizz Beatz) 8. “Shut It Down” (featuring The Dream) 9. “Unforgettable” (featuring Young Jeezy) 10. “Light Up” (featuring Jay-Z) 11. “Miss Me” (featuring Lil Wayne) 12. “Cece’s Interlude” 13. “Find Your Love” 14. “Thank Me Now” What song are you looking forward to hearing most on Drake’s Thank Me Later ? Drake Brings Out Special Guests At Dallas Away From Home Tour Stop

Baby and Lil Twist join their Young Money/ Cash Money comrade; Drizzy drops a Dallas freestyle. By Sarah Bryant Drake performs in Dallas on Wednesday Photo: Sarah Bryant DALLAS — Drake ‘s Away From Home Tour landed at the Palladium on Wednesday night, and the Young Money MC sounded just like the records you bang in your car — no Auto-Tune necessary. The Toronto native kicked off the show with songs from his breakout mixtape, So Far Gone, and then gave fans a taste of what’s to come on his June 15 debut, Thank Me Later, with “Fireworks,” which will feature Alicia Keys on the album. Drake temporarily diverted the love and attention from himself to his big brother, Lil Wayne. “It’s Young Money all day. Free Weezy,” Drake said between songs. “When I say Young Money, you say Free Weezy.” Birdman then made a special appearance during “4 My Town (Play Ball),” and the crowd got even crazier when the DJ dropped the beat for “Money to Blow.” “We certified getting it CM, YM, Cash Money business,” Baby rapped. Lil Twist also joined Drake onstage during “Bedrock.” The biggest spectacle was made by a fan, not a guest MC. Christina McAlister from Fort Worth, Texas, was picked from the audience to participate in the show. She landed not just a dance with Drake, but a kiss on the lips. The ladies “ooohed” with excitement as Christina tried to keep her cool. Shortly after, Drake pulled out his mic stand covered with bras, and his collection began to rack up, as women threw their bras to the stage. “I’ll make sure to add these to my treasure chest,” he chuckled. Though his newest single, “Find Your Love,” was conspicuously absent, he had to perform his breakthrough track, “Best I Ever Had.” Drake’s fans knew this show couldn’t be missed, because getting tickets wasn’t easy. In Dallas, tickets sold out within the first 24 hours. Devin Smith, a 23-year old senior from the University of North Texas, had to wait until tickets were re-released in mid-April to score his. “Just seeing Drake was on a different level!” Smith exclaimed. He and his friend arrived at the Palladium at 11:30 a.m. for the 8 p.m. performance so they could get the best seats in the house. They camped out in front, studied for summer classes and chatted with their newfound, like-minded friends. “It was worth the wait sitting there. … He put on a great concert,” Smith said. “He had great energy, and it was everything I thought it would be. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true.” Drake must have really loved his time in the D. On Thursday morning (May 20), he released “9 AM in Dallas Freestyle.” “Weezy, I’m just out here reppin’ us,” he raps. “Till I get to shake the hand of the man that’s blessing us/ I know these n—as miss the mean lyrics/ Kush got the room smelling like Teen Spirit/ … Money gets all of my love and affection/ Cars all black like the cover of Essence / I’m allergic to coming in second/ But I never sneeze/ YMO-ney, n—a.” Have you checked out Drake’s Away From Home Tour?
