Drake, Nicki Minaj Talk Jay-Z And Lil Wayne At Madison Square Garden

‘It was the stuff that dreams are made of,’ Minaj says of appearing on the stage with Jay-Z and her Young Money boss. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by MTV News staff Drake Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Lil Wayne and his Young Money cohorts Drake and Nicki Minaj stormed the stage at Madison Square Garden two weeks ago for a guest turn during Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour . The Roc Nation head called the spot “fantastic.” Turns out, Drake and Nicki Minaj thought so too. Young Jeezy, who welcomed the trio to his set, first introduced Nicki Minaj to thunderous applause. The Queens native said that prior to the concert, she and everyone else in Wayne’s camp were spending time with the rapper after he learned he had an extra day of freedom. Lil Wayne was scheduled to turn himself in to begin his prison stint that afternoon. A fire at the courthouse , however, prevented Wayne’s sentencing. With some time to kill, the crew got a phone call to put the plans in motion. “We were just talking to Wayne and he was being his crazy self,” Nicki told MTV News. “I got a call from Gee [Wayne’s co-manager and former executive at Roc-A-Fella] and the first name I heard was Jay-Z and I thought, ‘There’s no way Jay-Z approved me to be on this show.’ And I was like, ‘Do I want to?’ I’m on the next thing, smoking. I canceled meeting that day and the next day. “Madison Square Garden? I’m from New York,” she continued. “This means the world to me — to be there with Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Drake. It was the stuff that dreams are made of for a girl. Girls aren’t usually in those unique little circles.” Drake heaped praise on his boss, Lil Wayne, for sharing his extra day (that turned into an extra week) with his fans. “It was a moment where people thought Wayne had gone in and the surprise was he had an extra day, and a selfless individual came out and showed up for the people of New York,” Drake told MTV News. “The city he got convicted in, of all places. It was a great night.” The “Best I Ever Had” MC even joked about violating Jay-Z’s all-black dress code that was set for the festivities. “That’s just who I am,” Drake said, laughing about his all-white getup. “Young Angel.” Related Videos Nicki Minaj And Drake Speak On Their Surprise Blueprint 3 Show Related Artists Drake Nicki Minaj

Sex-Tape Overshares Might Send John Edwards Aide to Jail [Scandal]

A judge might send Andrew Young to jail for lying about his handling of the John Edwards sex tape. It seems the tape was distributed more widely than it should have been, like every sex tape ever. Young swore the only copy of a video of his former boss getting it on with mistress Rielle Hunter was in an Atlanta safe-deposit box, and that Young had shown it only to a select few. But that testimony didn’t square with Young showing the tape to ABC News and also to freelance journalist Robert Draper, the Associated Press reports . Finally , someone is about to be punished for sleazy John Edwards having an illicit love child behind the back of his cancer-stricken wife, and lying to the world about it. And naturally that someone is a campaign aide whose last name is not “Edwards” or “Hunter.”

Lil Wayne Going To Jail Is Like Elvis Being Drafted, Bun B Says

‘I don’t think anything like this has happened in music since Elvis got drafted into the Army,’ he says. By Shaheem Reid Bun B Photo: MTV News Bun B has been friends with Lil Wayne since he was a teenager. The Houston legend said having Wayne out of the music game for a year will be a greater loss than people are realizing. “I feel bad, because I don’t think anything like this has happened in music since Elvis got drafted into the Army,” Bun B said. ” … Let’s just keep it real: Lil’ Wayne is not just the biggest rapper, Lil Wayne is the biggest pop star right now. Maybe Susan Boyle is on his level. But when you talk about music, nine times out of 10, Lil Wayne’s name is gonna come into the conversation. I feel bad for any brother or any sister that’s gotta go to jail. I feel especially bad for a person like Lil Wayne who’s really riding the wave right now. But he don’t have a lot of time. He’s doing it on the Island . As wild and as ill as the Island is, I think at the same time, he’ll be all right. When you in that state jail and you dealing with those lifers, you got a lot of other issues at hand.” While in jail , Wayne should just focus on serving his time productively and not worry about fellow inmates, Bun said. , Wayne should just focus on serving his time productively and not worry about fellow inmates, Bun said. “I don’t think it will be smart for him to go to general population,” he said. “A person like Lil Wayne doesn’t have to prove anything to anybody in general population exposing themselves to that yard. It’s not about being real. It’s too many people who have way too much to gain, and [there is] so much he could lose by trying to prove something. … That’s nota good look. … It’s a little bit different when a person like Lil Wayne goes to jail. All we can do is pray for him. Pray for his spirit.” Bun, who championed his late musical brother Pimp C years ago when Pimp was in prison, said he admires the attitude Wayne’s musical family has in this tough time. “I just left Miami. People [were] trying to keep their heads up and sprits up while the young man was around, but they are hurting,” Bun said. “One thing I noticed from the Young Money camp is that they’re not being down because of their careers and they’re worried about a co-sign. They are worried about a friend. That’s what I see from Drake, Nicki, Stunna. … These people are concerned about a friend going to prison.” Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail: Celebs React Related Photos Lil Wayne’s Battle With His Gun Possession Case Related Artists Bun B Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne Shouts Out Justin Bieber, Cory Gunz On Ustream

Weezy says Gunz is joining Young Money in one of several videos made before Monday’s sentencing. By Shaheem Reid Lil Wayne in his Ustream video Photo: ustream Lil Wayne should be touching down in New York City for his jail sentencing on Monday (March 8). In the morning, his videographer and photographer, DJ Scoob Doo , posted notice on Twitter that they were about to take off from Miami to the Big Apple. Scoob also put up photos of their private jet. On Friday night, Wayne again appeared in front of the cameras, via Ustream, using Young Money member Lil Twist’s account. Wayne, Scoob and Twist sat down for dinner at Weezy’s Miami mansion and went live around 8:45 p.m. ” Jay-Z had a concert at Madison Square Garden,” Wayne said to the viewers, recalling the show he attended the night after a courthouse fire delayed his sentencing . ” Jay-Z and Young Jeezy . I had an opportunity to go out there on Young Jeezy’s set and perform ‘I’m Goin In.’ It was surprise to the crowd because they didn’t know I was there. I was supposed to go in [to jail that day]. Nicki Minaj blessed the stage first on that ‘Bedrock.’ When I say blessed the stage, she blessed it. Looking immaculate. Then I came up there. “I just ran out there and performed,” he added. “After I performed, Drake came out there and performed his verse. They went extra bananas. Then Jeezy performed his verse. They went stupid. It was an amazing moment.” From there, Wayne went on to marvel at all the women responding to him on Ustream that said they wanted to have sex with him. The New Orleans superstar also gave a plethora of shout-outs to the viewers as well as to some of his famous friends. “Shout out my n—a Justin Bieber ,” he said, continuing his public conversation with the teen sensation. Wayne also revealed a new addition to his label of talented artists. “Shout out to my n—a Cory Gunz , about to be the newest member of the Young Money team.” A couple of years ago, Gunz answered the call from Wayne to lay a verse on “A Milli,” though Gunz’s rhymes never made it on the album. The two apparently ran into each other last week in Miami and talked about officially joining forces, but a formal deal has not yet been completed. Gunz tweeted over the weekend, “LOL. Young Money!!!!!!” Wayne, who has been tweeting frequently and posting other Ustreams over the weekend, is expected to be sentenced to a year in prison on gun possession charges. Drake Premieres First Single ‘Over’

The first official track from Thank Me Later debuts on Toronto radio. By Shaheem Reid Drake Photo: Paola Kudacki/GQ After a nearly yearlong wait for his fans, Drake’s debut single off of his debut album Thank Me Later is here. The song, “Over,” deals with Drake coming to grips with fame. And just like Drizzy chose to stay with his home team, Young Money, when signing his record deal, he also chose to debut his first official record in his hometown, on Toronto radio station 93.5 the Flow. The song is also available for download on Drake’s Web site . “Bottles on me, long as someone drink it,” the 23-year-old raps in a slow, aggressive flow. “Never drop the ball, f— is y’all thinking?/ Making sure the Young Money ship is never sinking/ ‘Bout to set it off in this b—-, Jada Pinkett/ You too fine to be laying down in bed alone/ I can teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone.” The track was produced by Boi-1da and has an energetic feel. ” ‘Bout to go Thriller, Mike Jackson on these n—-s,” Drake later raps. “All I need is a f—— red jacket with some zippers.” Even with anticipation for the record through the roof, Drake said he’s keeping everything in perspective. “This is my first song,” he told radio-show hosts Jus Red and Jwyze. “This is still my first single of my first album. This is still the beginning, as great as everything has gone.” “I know way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year,” Drake sings on the hook. “Who the f— are y’all?/ I swear it feels like the last few nights we been everywhere and back/ But I just can’t remember it all/ What am I doing? What am I doing?/ Oh yeah, that’s right/ I’m doing me, I’m doing me/ I’m living life right now, man, and this what I’mma do till it’s over/ Till it’s over/ But it’s far from over.” “I went with ‘Over’ as the first look because of the words in the hook,” he said. “The hook being the most repetitive part. I got a lot of great songs on my album. I got songs for women who wanna feel special. I got songs for dudes — if you ever thought my music was too soft, this is one you will enjoy. I got a lot of variety on there, but the biggest thing was that opening line on the hook: ‘I know way too many people here right now that I didn’t know last year.’ “I’ve just gone so many places in a short amount of time,” he added. “This record sums up where I am right now in my career. I think it’s a great first impression. The album is gong to be a great body of work for you to get lost in. Right now I just wanna have some fun. When we’re out partying, I want people to have some fun too, because this is the one.” The video for “Over” is scheduled to be filmed soon in Los Angeles. Related Artists Drake
