Grey’s Anatomy Actress Sara Ramirez Comes Out As Bisexual “Grey’s Anatomy” star Sara Ramirez spent her Saturday afternoon speaking to homeless LGBT kids at True Colors Fund’s 40 to None Summit in L.A. In addition to kickin’ game to young’ns, Sara used the opportunity to publicly acknowledge her bisexuality for the very first time. “So many of our youth experiencing homelessness are youth whose lives touch on many intersections – whether they be gender identity, gender expression, race, class, sexual orientation, religion, citizenship status. Sara Ramirez has made a major admission about her personal life: She is bisexual. The actress, best known for her long-running role as Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy, made this admission on Saturday in Los Angeles at the 40 To None Summit. This is what Ramirez said to those in attendance at the event: “So many of our youth experiencing homelessness are youth whose lives touch on many intersections, whether they be gender identity, gender expression, race, class, sexual orientation, religion, citizenship status. “And because of the intersections that exist in my own life – woman, multiracial woman, woman of color, queer, bisexual, Mexican-Irish American, immigrant, and raised by families heavily rooted in Catholicism on both my Mexican & Irish sides – I am deeply invested in projects that allow our youth’s voices to be heard.” Ramirez went on to say that she wants to “support our youth in owning their own complex narratives so that we can show up for them in the ways they need us to.” Following the appearance, Ramirez shared the quote on Twitter and Instagram. They wed in 2012. She came on board Grey’s Anatomy full-time on Season 2 of the ABC series. At that time, she served as a love interest to George O’Malley, but she eventually married a fellow female doctor a few years after George was killed in a bus accident. So this ended up being an example of art mirroring real life. The 40 to None Summit was named after the 40 percent of youth experiencing homelessness who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The actress left Grey’s Anatomy after 10 years this past May, a move that surprised show creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes. “This one was different because it wasn’t a big planned thing,” Rhimes said at the Vulture Festival in NYC on May 22 of Ramirez departing. “I had a different plan going and when Sara came in and said, ‘I really need to take this break,’ I was lucky that we’d shot the end of the season with her going to New York.” We wouldn’t be surprised if Ramirez returns to the series at some point. Senseless Murder Has Great Chance For Finding Justice Late last week, news broke that Dwyane Wade’s cousin Nykeah Aldridge was killed in Chicago while she was walking her child down the street. Today, it’s been announced that two men, Derren and Darwin Sorrel, have been arrested and charged with her murder. Derren is said to be a member of the Gangster Disciples and was out on parole for a prior gun charge. Overnight, CPD charged the Sorrells brothers for the murder of Nykea Aldridge. Chicago police charged 22-year-old Derren Sorells and 26-year-old Darwin Sorells overnight on Saturday, CPD communications director Anthony Guglielmi announced on Saturday morning. CPD could not be reached for comment. In subsequent tweets, Guglielmi provided more information about the brothers charged with Dwyane Wade’s cousin’s tragic death. “Derren Sorells …. Is a documented member of the Gangster Disciples,” he claimed in a tweet, adding “Mr. Sorells is on parole.” According to Guglielmi, Sorells is allegedly on parole for a gun charge. “Sentenced to 6 yrs in Jan. 2013 & let out early,” Guglielmi wrote. Aldridge’s community and family continues to mourn her death. She was shot and killed in crossfire while pushing a stroller down a South Side Chicago street when several men allegedly started shooting at each other. NBA star Dwyane Wade took to Twitter to share his grief, writing “My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.” On Saturday, Wade posted a series of tweets about his cousin’s murder, including one that said, “The city of Chicago is hurting. We need more help& more hands on deck. Not for me and my family but for the future of our world. The YOUTH!” This is still a terrible and senseless act of violence but if there’s a silver lining to be found anywhere, is that Aldridge’s death won’t go unsolved.
Brendan Dassey was just 17 years old when he was convicted of helping his uncle Steven Avery with the murder of Teresa Halbach . Now, in a turn of events that’s sure to please many fans of the popular Netflix documentary Making a Murderer , a judge has ordered that Dassey be released from prison after six failed appeals and nearly a decade behind bars. Multiple news outlets reported moments ago that a federal judge in Wisconsin ruled that Dassey’s constitutional rights were violated when police coerced a confession from him when he was just 16 years old. As Murderer viewers know, it was more than just his youth that made Dassey vulnerable to the investigators’ highly questionable methods. The Wisconsin native has been diagnosed with multiple intellectual and emotional disabilities. The documentary series shocked millions with scenes that showed the ways in which Dassey was manipulated during his interrogation and his lack of understanding of the severity of what was taking place: Brendan Dassey Confession “Dassey’s borderline to below average intellectual ability likely made him more susceptible to coercive pressures than a peer of higher intellect,” his judge said today The judge also stated that he took issue with Dassey’s insufficient representation during his trial. Dassey’s first attorney, Len Kachinsky, permitted him to be interrogated without the presence of counsel. Clearly, this is good news for Dassey and his family, but they’re not out of the woods yet. Prosecutors have 90 days to decide if they want to re-try the case. Dassey’s uncle, Steven Avery is still appealing his conviction of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Police and prosecutors believe Dassey and Avery murdered Halbach, a local photographer, in 2005. The cases became the subject of intense public interest when Murderer debuted on Netflix last year. Kylie Jenner's hair follicles have had enough. In fact, one of them just straight up decided to go on strike and cease producing pigment for the 18-year-old reality star. That's right, the youth has just discovered her first gray hair, and she ain't happy about it. While getting her hair did, Kylie is alerted to the silver strand by her stylist, as seen in the video below posted to Snapchat. “Look what we found,” he tells her, and she reacts, well, probably like most of us would. “Oh my god!” she cries, her voice panic-stricken. “Take it out!” In the background, Kylie's concerned friend tells the stylist that if he plucks it, she'll get more, but he assures her that's just a wives' tale and yanks the sucker out of her head. We all knew she was growing up fast, and now even her hair is telling her to slow TF down. (That's a joke, peeps. We all get gray hair and it's NBD.) Nevertheless, Kylie is probably patting herself on the back for starting wigs , as she claimed earlier this year, because she may be wearing more of them to cover up those roots. In a follow-up vid, Kylie saved the offending hair and displayed it close up. “You guys, my first gray hair,” she told fans. “I think my mom got gray hairs in her early 20s,” she added with a laugh. Kylie has dyed her locks a number of wacky hues over the years and admitted that she destroyed her hair because of all the bleach it has endured.
