Dan Reed called Chappelle’s jokes about Michael Jackson ‘s rape accusers “revolting” and he said they made him “physically sick,” according to The Independent . Reed’s comments came after Dave Chappelle’s Netflix comedy special Stick & Stones went hard on Jackson’s rape accusers Wade Robson and James Safechuck . Dave flat out said that he doesn’t believe the alleged victims and even referred to himself as a “victim blamer.” He said if someone told him Jackson was molesting kids, he would respond “Well, what were those kids wearing at the time?” Chappelle also said that even if Michael did commit the acts, “This kid got his di** sucked by the king of pop. All we get is awkward Thanksgivings for the rest of our lives. You know how good it must have felt to go to school the next day after that sh**?” He continued, “I know it seems harsh, but somebody’s gotta teach these kids. No such thing as a free trip to Hawaii. He’s going to want to look at your butthole or something.” Director Dan Reed responded to Chappelle’s routine after Leaving Neverland , which documents the accounts of the alleged victims, won a Creative Arts Emmy on Saturday for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special. “Chappelle is riding on a wave of being contrarian, being controversial, and this, to me, was revolting,” he said. “I felt physically sick listening to what he was saying.” He continued, “You can make comedy out of so many other things. Why not do something brave instead of crapping on some victim of child rape?” Safechuck and Robson also responded to Chappelle’s comedy special not too long after it premiered. “I’m heartbroken for all those children who look to see how they will be received when they finally find the courage to speak out about their sexual abuse,” said Safechuck. “I just want to reach out to other survivors and let them know that we can’t let this type of behavior silence us. Together we are strong.” Robson added, “He can say whatever he wants. It reveals him, not us.” Jackson was under investigation twice for accusations that he molested children. He didn’t face charges in 1994, however, he went to trial in 2005 and was acquitted of all counts. Robson’s lawyer commented after Chappelle’s comedy special, saying “Although Mr. Chappelle is entitled to his opinions, however misinformed they may be, it’s unfortunate that he has chosen to use his platform to shame sexual abuse victims, and spread his ignorance of sexual abuse and the way it is perpetrated upon children, in an attempt to resurrect his career.”

And, he told me that Black people would never vote for him because they were too stupid.” In addition, 45 rolled back Obama-era prison reform policies. For example, the Justice Department will use private prisons to house federal inmates, which reverses an Obama-era policy. In addition, as The Washington Post reported, the Trump administration has “Overturned the sweeping criminal charging policy of former attorney general Eric H. Holder Jr. and directed his federal prosecutors to charge defendants with the most serious, provable crimes carrying the most severe penalties reports.” President Barack Obama made more criminal justice reforms than any president in U.S. Trump also ended the 21st Century Task Force on Policing , commissioned by the Obama administration to address tensions between police and the communities they serve. Sessions and Trump rolled this back under their “law and order” mandate. Trump is a racist who is creating racist policies and is surrounded by racists. In a politics panel that featured a variety of perspectives, T.I. and Owens got into a heated disagreement of what makes America so great as it relates to anyone who doesn’t embrace President Donald Trump or his policies. The “Trap the Vote: Hip Hop & Politics” panel featured activist and co-president of the 2019 Women’s March Tamika Mallory, the aforementioned T.I. and Killer Mike, activist and former spokesperson for the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign Katrina Pierson, the aforementioned Owens, and Dream Defenders’ Steven Pargett. Veteran journalist Jeff Johnson oversaw the conversation as the moderator for the explosive and intense debate. A moment from the discussion that has since gone viral was the heated exchanged between T.I. and Owens, with Tip asking point-blank a question that has become something of a refrain. “When you say ‘Make America Great Again,’ which period are you talking about?” T.I. stated. “The period when women couldn’t vote? The period when we were hanging from trees? The crack era? Which period in America are you trying to make America like again?” The discussion sparked a chorus of boos from the crowd and the panelists began shouting over each other. Owens attempted to state her position that Black voters are pawns of the Democratic Party and that race isn’t a factor in the upcoming elections. To Owens credit, she didn’t back down in the face of dissent and she ended up having an unlikely ally onstage in Killer Mike, but only in the sense that Black America might be focused on the wrong things in this current political climate. Johnson, the creator of the Ebony Fashion Fair Show, the beauty brand traveled internationally with Black models who were modeling high end designs. Johnson founded the company when she noticed models in the show were mixing their own foundations to create the right blend to match their skin tone. Now in a time when almost every brand is offering multiple shades, pushed heavily by Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line, Fashion Fair is going up for sale. Hilco Streambank has been retained by Miriam R. Stein to run the sale of the brand. Gabre Fried, CEO of Hilco Streambank stated, “Fashion Fair was developed at a time when the leading beauty brands did not make products which met the needs of African American women. Mrs. Johnson, ever the entrepreneur, developed and cultivated the Fashion Fair brand to a highly devoted audience.” A visionary indeed. The issues with models having foundation to match their skin tone was an issue up until recently; illustrating the impact of Johnson’s beauty creation. Fried shared, “Eventually, the brand expanded its product lines to address the needs of many other women of color, vaulting the brand to the global stage.” At the height of its success, the brand was generating over $56 million in wholesale sales, according to their press release. Personally, I would love to see this brand remain Black owned, especially with it’s iconic history. Could Rihanna potentially scoop up this beauty brand and add to her arsenal? It’s founded on the very principles she strives to uphold by offering women the right to have their own foundation shade. Will Beautypreneur extraodinairé Richelieu Dennis add this brand to his growing portfolio? After all, he did recently purchase Madam C.J. Walker’s mansion in upstate New York to turn into an incubator for Black women. Will the brand be bought by a big company and absorbed into their portfolio of brands? We’ll find out soon enough.
