She may not be a housewife, but we’re guessing Felicity Huffman is feeling mighty desperate these days, Along with fellow actress Lori Loughlin, Huffman is one of the faces of the college admissions bribery scandal , which made tabloid headlines back in March and continues to create endless legal nightmares for many well-heeled, but ethically-deficient parents. Basically, Loughlin and Huffman stand accused of handing out bribes in order to ensure their children’s admission to top colleges. Loughlin refused a plea deal and is planning to fight her charges in front of a judge. Huffman accepted a deal from prosecutors — but it looks like the court is still planning to make an example of her. According to documents filed on Friday, the U.S. Attorney’s office is recommending that Huffman pay a fine of $20,000 and serve one month in federal prison. “Huffman’s conduct was deliberate and manifestly criminal: it was wrong, she knew it was wrong, and she actively participated in manipulating her daughter’s guidance counselor, the testing services and the schools to which her daughter applied,” the documents read. “Her efforts weren’t driven by need or desperation, by a sense of entitlement, or at least moral cluelessness, facilitated by wealth and insularity,” prosecutors wrote. “Millions of parents send their kids to college every year. “All of them care as much as she does about the children’s fortunes. But they don’t buy fake SAT scores and joke about (‘Ruh ro!’) along the way.” The “Ruh ro!” remark is a reference to a comment Huffman made in an email to co-conspirator Rick Singer when she learned that her daughter’s high school would be using its own proctor for the SAT, which would make it more difficult for her daughter to cheat on the exam. Needless to say, it sounds as though prosecutors are taking Huffman’s case quite personally — and she’s certainly not receiving much sympathy from the public. According to TMZ, 27 people submitted letters of support defending Huffman’s actions, including her husband, William H. Macy, and her Desperate Housewives co-star Eva Longoria. But it doesn’t sound like those B-list pleas will be enough to keep Huffman from serving time. We imagine Loughlin — who, again, refused the deal that was offered to her by prosecutors — is shaking in her designer boots at the moment.
In early August, we knew that Matt Brown planned to return to Alaskan Bush People . But that was far from official. The truth of the matter is that he had burned some bridges with his family. Now, however, Matt has not only proven himself with his folks, he’s signed the paperwork — which is good news for fans in more ways than one. Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown spent months estranged from his family — especially from his father, Billy Brown. See, Matt’s struggles with alcoholism landed him in rehab about a year ago. After that, he had the support of his family to remain sober, but ended up having some stumbles along the way — as many addicts do. Unfortunately, along the way, he had a major falling out with his dad and ended up storming off to SoCal. There, he reportedly hung out with a girlfriend and, though he retained contact with some family (including Ami), essentially ghosted the new homestead. That, folks, is why Matt was a no-show in Season 10. But there is good news. As we reported, Matt headed up to Washington early last month to spend a week hanging out with his folks. While there, he had a nice long talk with his dad and the two of them mended fences. He was even invited back to the show. You could view this good news through a cynical lens and say that Matt just wanted that sweet reality TV paycheck. Regardless, he’s back with his family and soon will be back on camera. At the time, however, there was no official announcement. However, SoapDirt has now revealed that Matt has taken the next step. Apparently he has now signed the paperwork to appear on the show again for Season 11. Now, here is the twist — and a fun surprise for fans. Discovery hasn’t actually announced that the show has been renewed for Season 11 yet. Fans get nervous when a show is in limbo. Sometimes they’re just waiting to announce, but other times it’s a way of preparing audiences for cancelation news. But you don’t generally sign paperwork for a season of a show that the network knows isn’t happening. Which means that Alaskan Bush People is very probably renewed for Season 11. Contrary to some past seasons, Season 11 of Alaskan Bush People was actually in doubt for some fans. While some seasons of the hit reality series have had extraordinary ratings, Season 9 slipped among viewers. That, however, was when the show’s timeslot was moved. For Season 10, the timeslot has been restored and viewership has improved appropriately. Even so, it’s a relief to hear that there are actual contracts for Season 11 being signed and filed. We don’t yet have a premiere date (or an episode count, which is nearly as important) for Season 11. But the mere knowledge that it will exist should be enough to put wind in the sales of longtime fans for months to come. It’s been a rough few weeks for Kailyn Lowry. Between fending off David Eason’s weird trolling attempts , and shooting down rumors that she’s dating Leah Messer , the poor gal’s barely had time to mourn her recently deceased dog. Kailyn just got an adorable new pup for the family, but fans are already jumping down her throat about it. On August 28, Kailyn saddened fans on social media with the news that her beloved Rottweiler Bear had died after facing serious health issues. “I think this is by far the worst week I’ve had in a long time,” Kailyn tweeted during the ordeal. The Teen Mom 2 star’s posts included a loving tribute that showed what a central part of the family Bear had been. But it didn’t take long for Kailyn to find love again. Just over a week later, Kail returned to the web to debut the newest addition to her family, a Cane Corso named Karma. Kailyn chose to introduce the pup in a tweet with a series of cute pics and the simple caption, “Meet Karma.” It was clear Kailyn was super excited about to add Karma to the family. She even went all out with a fake gender reveal, including a pink dog bed, blanket and balloons. Look, it’s not any dumber than when we do it for people. Puppies don’t appreciate the difference between blue and pink any more or less than human babies. The point is, Karma’s a girl, and she has a lot of pink stuff because Kailyn threw her a cute little party. But fans just couldn’t let Kailyn have this one nice thing. Twitter users immediately came for the 27-year-old and her little dog too, lambasting every detail they could find a problem with. Followers took issue with where Kailyn got the dog, when she got it, and most outrageously, even the shape of Karma’s ears! As is plainly visible in the phots, Karma’s ears are cropped. The Cane Corso naturally has longer ears that flop over, but the breed often has its ears cut into a smaller, upright shape. Many fans see this as a cruel and unnatural alteration to a non-consenting animal, and they definitely let their voices be heard. “Please tell me you didn’t clip his ears,” wrote one user, who clearly missed the gender reveal. “Wtf is wrong with you,” they continued, “I’m done.” We recommend knowing at least a bit of what you’re talking about before declaring you’re “done” with an argument you started, but hey whatever. Plenty of others had equally strong opinions about the practice. “That poor baby’s ears,” observed another user in the comments thread “SMFH. Anyone who crops their dogs ears should have it done to them,” they decreed. But some other users were in Kail’s corner this time, or at the very least were advocates of canine ear clipping. “Do your research on the ear cropping of this breed,” wrote one user who came to Kail’s defense. Another commenter did just that, and even had the good sense to post their findings in the thread. A cursory google search turns informs that for the Cane Corso specifically, cropped ears are in the best interest of the dog’s health and safety. “Ok I was going to slam you for the ear cropping,” wrote the user who looked it up. “But researched it first, and I’ll be damned,” they concluded, adding an emoji of a lady shrugging. Take notes, Internet users. We should all aspire to be like this commenter. If you have an opinion, do a bit of research before you present it to the world. Of course, other users disputed this information, and pointed out that breeders are gradually leaving behind the practice of ear cropping, even in breeds where it’s traditional. And for the record, we can totally understand why so many are opposed to the process. It does change the dog’s appearance, and the animal can’t give its permission. Just like human circumcision, there’s a hot debate as to weather it’s necessary for health and hygiene, or just mutilation for the sake of tradition. For her part, Kailyn Lowry is used to getting called out online. And she’s used to defending herself too Kail wants us to know she didn’t make the call on this issue. Karma came into her life with ears already clipped. “Either way,” she wrote, “the ears were cropped before I got her, so that was out of my control.” Of course, that wasn’t enough for some fans, who pointed out that by purchasing a dog with it’s ears cropped, Kailyn is still supporting the practice. “Beautiful dog, and I have no doubt you’ll treat it well,” replied one commenter, “but buying a dog with its ears cropped should be illegal.” We’re not sure we’d go that far. If it’s truly bad for the dog, maybe the practice should be illegal. But we’d hate to see a pup miss out on a good home just because its missing a few tiny pieces. Fortunately, that’s not an issue for Karma, who looks like she settling in beautifully to her new home. The new pooch has been a hit with Kail’s kids and even her other dog, a french bulldog named Gizmo. And naturally, plenty of followers had a problem with that too, finding it callous that Kailyn got a new dog only a week after losing her last one. But Kailyn’s snappy online response to the haters asserts that Karma “is an addition, not a replacement.” Other fans argued over weather or not the Cane Corso is an appropriate breed to be around young children. Still others blasted Kail for buying anything from a breeder when there are so many dogs that need to be rescued from shelters. Unfortunately, pretty much every choice is the wrong one when you live under the microscope like Kailyn does. But we’re glad that even in these rocky times, Kailyn’s family has a new source of joy in Karma. And for Karma, we’re honestly just glad she didn’t end up as Janelle Evans’ new family pet. While it may be true that Scott Disick didn’t fully appreciate his family before it fell apart, he’s all about family these days. Dating Sofia Richie seems to have made him into a better man and a better father. And no one is more aware of that fact that Kourtney Kardashian. Us Weekly spoke to an inside source about how Kourtney Kardashian really feels about her baby daddy’s very serious romance with Sofia Richie. “Kourtney thinks Sofia brings out the best in Scott,” the insider reveals. While there’s a lot to be said about whether women should be responsible for a man’s behavior … we have to say that she’s right on the money. “And,” the source shares, Kourtney “is happy for them.” Considering that she has every right to be resentful that he couldn’t get his act together when they were together, that’s very gracious of her. “Kourtney and Sofia share a common background and lifestyle,” the insider observes. “And,” the source adds. “Sofia is easy to get along with.” That is great to hear, though unsurprising. Aside from the people she dates, she’s never really at the center of much drama. The insider elaborates, saying that Sofia is easy-going “and is a normal girl.” Right, just a normal world-famous young model whose dad is Lionel Richie. Normal. “Everything is positive with Sofia and Kourtney right now,” the source continues. That is great to hear. “The family is in a really good place right now,” the insider observes. It can be difficult to reenact the lyrics to Gwen Stefani’s “Cool,” but Kourtney is managing it. “And,” she source divulges. “Wveryone views Sofia as being part of the family.” With an insular group like the Kardashians, that is no easy feat. But apparently Sofia is just another cog in the Kardashian machine these days. “Sofia is integrated into their lives,” the insider explains. Getting along with Kourtney and with the kids is a huge part of how that has worked out. “And,” the source reports. “They’re closer than ever before.” Modern families can be very complicated (so could not-so-modern families be, by the way). When you make it work, it works. The first priority, of course, are Kourtney and Scott’s three kids — Mason, Penelope, and Reign. “Kourtney and Scott are coparenting in a great way,” the insider praises. “Scott and Kourtney realize it looks weird from an outside perspective,” the source acknwoledges. “That they have stayed so close as exes. “But,” the insdier points out. “It works for them.” It certainly seems to be. And the addition of Sofia seems to have, if anything, calmed the waters instead of making things worse. The report also goes to great pains to shut down rumors that Kourtney has mixed feelings about how well Scott and Sofia work together. “Any rumors about Kourtney thinking it’s ‘bittersweet’ …” the source begins. The insider continues: “that Scott has been able to be the partner to Sofia that he wasn’t able to be for Kourtney.” The source concludes by strongly affirming that these “are strictly rumors.” Feelings are complicabed, but it is 100% possible to get over your ex while interacting with them every single day. The rock queen recently did an interview with The New York Times and although she endured a hectic life, she’s now just as carefree as ever. She has a musical about her life headed to Broadway, she’s married to music producer Erwin Bach , and she’s enjoying the fruits of her labor with 10 years of retirement. “I don’t necessarily want to be a ‘strong’ person,’” she told the Times . “I had a terrible life. I just kept going. You just keep going, and you hope that something will come.” Ms. Turner then gestures to her extravagant home in Switzerland, adding, “This came.” Spoken like a true legend. Turner also spoke about her notoriously abusive relationship with the late Ike Turner, shedding insight on how forgiveness manifests for different people. “I don’t know if I could ever forgive all that Ike ever did to me,” Turner said. Then she added, “Ike’s dead. So we don’t have to worry about him.” There you have it. Along with her tips on resilience, Turner also gave tips on just relaxing and doing nothing. Although she had great moments during her 50 years of performing, Turner is enjoying retirement and has no plans to return as a music artist. “I don’t sing. I don’t dance. I don’t dress up,” she said. After a life of pleasing other people, Ms. Turner has no qualms about living a little selfishly in her soon-to-be 80s. “I was just tired of singing and making everybody happy,” she said. “That’s all I’d ever done in my life.” The upcoming Broadway musical, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, first made its debut in London before coming to the U.S., according to Playbill. Actress Adrienne Warren will reprise the title role and she’ll be joined by Daniel J. Watts as Ike Turner. Acclaimed playwright Katori Hall wrote the book for the show. “Tina is such a powerful being—beyond an icon,” Hall told the cast on their first day of rehearsal. “[Tina] always said she wanted to use the poison that she had to take in her life in order to create medicine for others. I want you guys in this rehearsal to embrace the responsibility. The responsibility of telling this story that is going to transform people.” Tina will explore Ms. Turner’s life from Nutbush, Tennessee to international fame. Performances will start on October 12 at the Lunt-Fortanne Theatre and opening night is November 7.

Yoba is an honorary member of the fraternity according to The Jasmine Brand. He was named their youth “Sigma Beta Club” spokesperson recently. The fraternity has released a statement regarding Mariah Lopez Ebony . The now transgender adult claims Yoba solicited sex from her as a vulnerable teen. Yoba was removed from the organization on Thursday and the following statement was released: “Those reports allege that Yoba had been previously involved in an inappropriate relationship 20 years ago, allegations that Brother Yoba denies. This is a serious issue and the allegation is inconsistent with, and a distraction to, the focus of the Sigma Beta Club. To safeguard the reputation of the program and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., the National Sigma Beta Club Foundation, in consultation with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity’s leadership, has determined it to be in the best interest of all concerned that Brother Malik Yoba no longer serve as the National Spokesperson for the Sigma Beta Club program.” Malik Yoba previously denied Ebony’s claims. So far he hasn’t commented about being dropped from the program.

The rapper finally dropped his highly anticipated debut album, announced a new tour, filmed a new judge-style television show for Netflix called Rhythm & Flow , and most recently, he welcomed a new baby girl into the world. Of course, these are all great things to have on your calendar, but one of those seems to have come at the wrong time for Chance: his upcoming North American tour. The Chicago native took to his Instagram page to make the announcement that his tour, which was scheduled to start in only a few days, was going to be postponed . This news comes directly following the announcement that his wife gave birth to their second child together. “I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour. He’s always leaned into dressing Black Hollywood, whether it was coming to the rescue of Leslie Jones who couldn’t find a designer to dress her on the red carpet, or stylishly shaping the curves (and even placing her on the runway) of Danielle Brooks . At the Orange Is The New Black season finale, many of the women were wearing designs by Siriano. While we praise diversity in fashion , we still have a long way to go. It shouldn’t be a headline that a designer is dressing a curvy or tall Black woman. However, his efforts, have helped to push diversity in the industry and call out designers who are still designing for the same, monolithic customer. Nevertheless, even allies can make mistakes. According to WWD , Sirano showed hairstylists a photo of Gigi Hadid in a braided style and dubbed the look the “Gigi Braid.” And while yes, Hadid may have worn this exact hairstyle, when I think of braids, I do not think of white women. There is nothing wrong with Gigi Hadid wearing a braided hairstyle; however, there is a huge problem in the industry (and media) with Blackness only being desired or adored when placed on white bodies. Braids have a long history going back to Africa. Specific braided styles represented class and even occasions while some braided styles were actually maps to freedom during the slave trade . An erasure of history. Erasure is a form of racism that has been embedded in American culture when it comes to Black people. To not even acknowledge the history of something is to say it doesn’t exist. He could have still called it the ‘Gigi Braid’; however, it should have had some historical context. With a platform as large as his, simply adding that braids are historically from Black culture and natural hairstyles have seen a resurgence on the runway and red carpet, would have educated a mass of people who probably aren’t looking for this information on their own. We’ve already been through this with Bo Derek and her braids. “Bo Derek Braids” are not a thing. Bo Derek is a woman who wore braids, but she did not start or create the braided style. The ‘Bo Derek Braids’ nomenclature occurred after the 1979 movie ‘ 10 ‘. If it seems like one is nit picking, fast forward to almost 40 years later to Kim Kardashian (who whether we like it or not, influences culture), called her braids ‘Bo Derek Braids.’ Mis-education is also a form of erasure. With the CFDA placing diversity as a major importance, it’s imperative to know that it goes beyond throwing more Black models on the runway . Fashion is fantasy so inspiration will be taken from a multitude of places; it’s important to correctly site where said inspiration is derived.
