She edged out Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjostrom and Australia’s Cate Campbell . She is the second woman to win two consecutive world titles. The first woman to do so was swimmer Kornelia Ender 44 years ago. This isn’t the first time that Manuel has made history. In 2016 she became the first Black woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in swimming. Her impact goes far beyond the water. Manuel is big on philanthropy and is on a mission to diversify swimming. “The gold medal wasn’t just for me; it was for people that came before me and inspired me to stay in the sport,” she told the New York Times in an interview. “For people who believe that they can’t do it, I hope I’m an inspiration to others to get out there and try swimming. You might be pretty good at it.” Earlier this year, she visited LeBron James ’ I Promise School in Akron, Ohio to talk with students about water safety and encourage them to learn how to swim. In partnership with the Akron Area YMCA, she will provide all of the students with swimming lessons this summer. She is also spreading awareness about the high drowning rate within the Black community and is working hard to reverse the alarming trend. “The most important thing is saving lives more than winning gold medals. Representation is important,” she said . A couple from Philadelphia is ensuring that cancer patients and their loved ones have access to quality healthcare and support. Ten years ago, they had three family members who were fighting different types of the disease at the same time. While supporting their loved ones they noticed there was a lack of spaces that merged treatments with wellness and decided to open The Cancer Who Cares Center. “We noticed that there was no center where people with cancer could go to decompress, and let their emotions out, but also be treated with a sense of normalcy,” Al told the news outlet. “All of our programs are free because we want to support the person and their family without them having to worry about paying for anything.” The center has a variety of programs to provide emotional and mental care for patients, including spa days, forums and yoga classes. The couple hopes that their journey will inspire other individuals in the Black community to break barriers in whatever industry they choose to pursue. “We feel proud that we can show our children and the rest of our culture that you can always be the first at something even when you feel like you are in last place,” Al stated. There are several Black entrepreneurs who are creating spaces where people of color can receive proper care and support. Earlier this year a group of African American medical professionals joined forces to open up Chicago’s only Black-owned urgent care facility . In 2018, Dr. Tamara Moise and Wadson Fils opened the doors to Big Apple Urgent Care, Brooklyn’s first Black-owned urgent care center. Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but… … we positively adore Tori Roloff. As we’ve noted on numerous occasions in the past, celebrities really do not get more genuine and humble than this long-time cast member on Little People, Big World. Or more relable, we can now add, following a couple recent Instagram posts by Tori. Roloff and her husband Zach, you see, are expecting their second child. Already parents to a cutie patootie named Jackson, the reality stars announced this summer that a sibling is on the way, confirming the blessed news as follows: “We are so excited to announce that Jackson is going to be a big brother! We can not wait to meet our sweet baby girl!” We’ve since learned that the baby is due around Thanksgiving. However, just a few weeks ago telling the public about this incredible news, Tori confessed to feeling quite self-conscious these days. “I’ve gotten bigger a lot faster than I did with Jackson and I’ve become a lot more insecure,” she admitted, sounding just like millions of other pregnant women and then adding: “Hearing people ask me if I’m sure it’s not twins definitely does not help (for all our sakes-don’t ever ask a woman this question. Like ever).” She continued at the time: “It’s been hard to really enjoy this pregnancy because I’ve let my own body image issues get in the way.” We’re sharing these words again now to remind readers of the mindset Tori was in for awhile — and yet this hasn’t stopped her from recently sharing the two new baby bump photos above. “Cruising around the Willamette with my favorite person was a perfect way to spend our anniversary! Love you so much babe uh!” wrote Roloff as a captiont to the snapshots. Previously, Tori made every piece of our hears shatter into a million pieces via the precious photos above and below of her stomach and of little Jackson. We just applaud her so loudly for overcoming her self-esteem concern and still baring her stomach for all to see. But that’s Tori for you! Consider the inspiring conclusion to her aforecited Instagram message… Us as women are so badass. Like we can grow babies. And I know I need to give this up to God right and be thankful for this gift-and I’m trying trust me. But for all those women out there-pregnant or not- you need to hear this just like I do. You’re beautiful, you’re strong, and dang it love yourself no matter what. I know someone besides just me needs to hear that today. Amber Portwood … It’s just not a great situation right now, everything that’s been going on with her. Is that the understatement of the year? Yeah, maybe. And sure, it would be nice to just leave it at that, to not go into the details of Amber’s latest crimes. But to talk about where she’s going, we have to talk about where she’s been, don’t we? So let’s just go ahead and recap Amber’s tale of machete madness one more time. Back on the fourth of July, Amber and her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, reportedly got into an argument over some fireworks —there was some traffic and road work, so they weren’t able to get where they needed to be to see them. It sounds like such a non-issue — just go a different way, or see different fireworks, whatever — but it seemed to have set Amber off in a big way. He dropped her off at home and went back out with their one-year-old, James, to figure out the situation with the dumb fireworks, and when he did, he went back home. That’s when Amber allegedly began beating him with a shoe while he was holding James. They left again, leaving Amber at home, and drove around for around three hours before Andrew picked up some food and a present and tried going home again. She was still agitated, enough that, according to Andrew’s statement, she took a handful of pills and told him she was going to kill herself. But wait, it gets crazier. She ended up throwing up the pills, but later she picked up a machete and went after him while he was holding the baby. He went to another room and locked the door, but she hit the door with the machete and tried to kick it down — that’s when he finally reached out to 911 and officers came to arrest her . Amber was charged with three felonies, and she was only just able to see James in a supervised visit . Andrew has filed for full custody, and he definitely seems done with their relationship. It’s an awful story, and it could get a lot worse — there’s a real chance she could go back to prison for this. So what is she doing in the meantime? Oh, you know, just chillin’ with some corn. Amber has remained pretty quiet on social media after her arrest — besides posting about being “heartbroken” by reports that Andrew is already talking to another woman , she’s been totally silent. But this weekend, she’s been easing back into things, first by posting a photo of some good ol’ Indiana corn fields. She then posted a video of some corn up close, and captioned it “Relaxation in the beautiful country.” Last night, she posted a selfie, her first since the incident, and although it’s pretty dark, we can only assume that she’s once again out in the corn fields. “Nighttime meditation and relaxation with music and nature,” she captioned that picture. With all these posts about relaxation and meditation, it’s pretty clear what she’s doing, right? She wants us all to believe that she’s thinking about things, that she’s trying to grow and reflect and be a better person. She’s got her comments turned off on Instagram, but she’s set her posts there to go to Twitter, and Twitter has some things to say about all of this. “Get help and stop abusing men,” one of her followers suggested. Another pointed out “If you are abusing men in front of your children, you are abusing your children. It’s so sick.” One particularly blunt person commented “You need to check yourself into an inpatient clinic. Then you need to actually do the work. You’re a terrible human being, but with intense treatment & the right medication, you might make into the ‘not so bad’ category.” But, believe it or not, the positive, supportive comments far outweigh the critical ones — so many people have told her things like “this too shall pass” and “stay strong!” And that is absolutely insane. Amber is a violent person. We know this, and we’ve seen it many times. We saw her assault Gary more than once back in the day on Teen Mom, and of course there was that reunion where she tried to hit Farrah . In her time with Matt Baier, we heard reports as well as statements from both of them that led many to believe that they may have been violent with each other. And now there’s all this new stuff with Andrew — and remember, while she denied the machete part, she did admit to beating him with the shoe. She is mentally ill, and she’s been very open about how much she struggles with her illnesses, and we definitely believe her, but the fact is that mental illness is just not an excuse for behaving like this. Many people with Amber’s same diagnosis manage to go through life without hurting the people close to them like this, and honestly, it’s pretty bizarre that so many people are defending her right now. Big Papi was reportedly discharged Friday from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and was sent home with his family. The former Red Sox slugger will continue his rehabilitation at his house, where he’ll be monitored by full-time nurses. Ortiz will have doctors regularly check in on him as he continues to heal. Nazanin Mandi “Forever Mood” Nazanin Mandi is expanding from her acting and modeling career and delving into music. The wife of singer Miguel released her debut song and music video “FOREVER MOOD.” The single is produced by The Code and co-executive produced by her Grammy-nominated hubby along with singer/songwriter, Midian. Midian also co-wrote the song with Nazanin which she states is the reply to Miguel’s “All I Want is You.” The sultry single and music video made its debut on Billboard. In case you didn’t know, Mandi’s first foray in the music industry came when she performed at Carnegie Hall at the age of 15. Swae Lee went out of his way to issu an apology to Kimora Lee Simmons following a heated back-and-forth on social media between his ex-girlfriend Marliesia Ortiz and her daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee Simmions. Last week, after Ming Lee posted a photo of herself and Swae on her Instagram Story, Ortiz started to attack her. Aoki came to her sister’s rescue with the quickness and immediately clapped back at Marlie, which is what set off the Instagram beef and some insane bars from Aoki. Kimora Lee Simmons posted a screenshot of a lengthy message Lee sent her apologizing for what went down between his ex and her daughters. “Hey I’m just writing to apologize if I came off the wrong way with the ex situation and having that blown out of proportion especially with your daughters getting involved,” he wrote to Kimora. The rapper also added that he treats her daughter with nothing but respect and would never intentionally do anything to make her look bad.
