T he Black maternal health crisis has been an ever-growing issue within our country. According to a report released by the National Partnership for Women & Families, African American women in the U.S. are more likely to die from pregnancy and childbirth than women of any other race. Further research revealed that Black women are more likely to experience preventable maternal death than white women. Tennis star Serena Williams is determined to address these alarming trends. She recently invested in the maternal healthcare startup Mahmee , Black Enterprise reported. . @serenawilliams , @mcuban Invest in Black-Owned Maternal Healthcare Startup https://t.co/WQs7FUUIgc — Black Enterprise (@blackenterprise) July 17, 2019 For Williams, the matter is personal. She has been very candid about the complications she endured while giving birth to her now 1-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. She needed two surgeries after having a C-section due to a pulmonary embolism that had developed. The app—which was co-created by Melissa Hanna —connects patients with healthcare providers so that they can develop a solid prenatal and postpartum healthcare plan. Mahmee provides expecting parents with a comprehensive dashboard that tracks the health of the mother and child. Parents can also utilize the platform for educational resources. “Mahmee is a digital maternal health care company that uses predictive analytics to provide personalized, on-demand support to new mothers and infants. Women’s healthcare, in general, is substantially under-regulated. This is across the board. Maternity is just the glaring error of it all,” Hanna told The Helm in an interview. “There is so much work that we need to do on postpartum depression and women’s mental health in general.” Williams is proud to back the growing company. “I am incredibly excited to invest and partner with Mahmee, a company that personifies my firm’s investment philosophy,” she said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “Given the bleak data surrounding maternal death and injury rates, I believe that it is absolutely critical right now to invest in solutions that help protect the lives of moms and babies. Mahmee’s data-driven approach is the right solution to one of the most significant problems in the system: that of fragmented care.” Williams has been dedicated to investing in the futures of women entrepreneurs. In March, she joined forces with Bumble to provide women with capital to start and further their business ventures. Source: Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com / WENN Woman Arrested After Threatening Violence At The Swedish Embassy Weeks after his arrest, A$AP Rocky is still in Swedish custody–and as the calls for his release become louder and louder here in the US, one woman is taking her support to a whole new level. According to reports from NBC 4 Washington , 26-year-old Rebecca Kanter was arrested on Tuesday after she allegedly threatened to “blow up” the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C. during a protest of the rapper’s incarceration. A Secret Service Officer stated that Kanter first appeared at the Swedish complex on Monday, which is when she “threw liquid from a glass Coca Cola bottle at the doorway and yelled out ‘I’m going to blow this motherf***er up.’” She reportedly left the premises before law enforcement could intervene, but she went on to social media to write about her efforts. “Why isn’t it breaking news that I defiled the House of Sweden last night, that I vandalized the Wold Bank, that I vandalized the IMF,” she wrote online, according to a criminal complaint . “Why aren’t I getting press for ASAP?” Weird flex, but okay. Here’s your press, ma’am. Kanter returned to the scene the following day, allegedly shouting profanities at embassy personnel and a student tour group. She was also accused of damaging property within the building. When Embassy staff demanded that Kanter to leave the premises, she refused–which is when the police were called. The 26-year-old was arrested by secret service and booked on charges of willfully injuring and damaging property of a foreign government and refusing to depart a foreign embassy. She has reportedly been released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.

Breaking news: Jenelle Evans is not a good mom. Ha ha, just kidding — the “breaking news” part was a joke because the fact that Jenelle is a bad mom has been public knowledge for years now. It’s just … she’s so bad at it, you know? As much as she wants everyone to believe that she’s “a damn good mom,” her actions tell a very different story. Would a damn good mom give up custody of her first child before he had his first birthday? Would a damn good mom get pregnant again before she regained custody of her first child? Would a damn good mom get pregnant again after that, then marry a man that’s been accused several times of abusing one of her kids while the other kid directly told her he didn’t want her to marry him? Look, we could sit here all day and ask questions like that, but it would get too sad and you might get too depressed to get to the main point of this story. The main point, obviously, being the latest example of how Jenelle really is just the worst. So, OK, we all remember how David killed Jenelle’s dog and CPS removed Kaiser, Ensley, and Maryssa from their home, right? Of course we do — it’s kind of hard to forget such a horrifying story. That happened in May, they were in court several times in June, and then at the beginning of this month, a judge ordered that all the kids be returned to The Land . The family has only been back together for a few weeks, and already Jenelle is showing her true colors. Her true, gross colors. On Twitter and Facebook, she asked the following question: “When are kids too old for birthday parties? Serious question. I want to know what everyone thinks.” Now, that might just be something she was curious about and wanted to discuss. But Jace turns 10 next Friday, and Maryssa turns 12 a couple of days after that. So everyone knows what she’s really asking — and the answers showed that. “I think you’re a terrible mom that doesn’t want to throw parties for anyone but Ensley,” one person commented. Another said “I can’t imagine that any parent would allow their child to attend a party hosted by junkes, dog killers and child abusers.” As one follower pointed out, “Shouldn’t you throw a party so you can put the pics on IG and keep up the facade of being a parent? But then someone asked “Is this your way of saying Maryssa won’t get a party this year?”, and it feels like that’s really the issue here. Jenelle’s mother, Barbara, has full custody of Jace, and she always throws him a party. He might have another celebration at Jenelle’s house, but his big party has always been with Barbara. Unfortunately, David does have custody of Maryssa, and what’s especially unfortunate is that during the court proceedings, we learned that he and Jenelle don’t even really want custody . Remember the report about how they decided that they were only fighting for Ensley and Kaiser, that Maryssa could stay with her grandmother? They reached that decision after Maryssa allegedly refused to speak to David during one of their supervised visits — something that was said to have infuriated him. The girl also testified in court, telling everyone what truly goes on in the Eason home. What she said was never made public, but we did hear that what she had to say wasn’t very positive. View Slideshow: Jenelle Evans & David Eason: Under Attack by Conspiracy Theorists! Fake Dog-Slaying Texts, Accounts Exposed!! [EXCLUSIVE] Then the justice system failed, and now Maryssa has to live with those people again — and apparently one of her punishments is that she doesn’t get a birthday party. But sure, Jenelle, tell us more about what a damn good mom you are.
Cheating death is no small task. Some of these characters were killed and made miraculous returns. The others managed to avoid death by the skin of their teeth. In some cases, these characters ruined the legacy of the show they were part of. But we'll let you be the judge of that. Have a look below. 1. Jon Snow – Game of Thrones Viewers witnessed Jon die at the conclusion of Game of Thrones Season 5, but he came back to life in the sixth season premiere thanks to Melisandre. It’s a pity he didn’t stay dead given that he had very little purpose in the final two seasons. 2. Alison DiLaurentis – Pretty Little Liars The whole point of the mystery of the freshman season was that these teenagers were being stalked a year after their friend went missing. In an unsurprising move, Ali had actually cheated death, and lived to scheme another day. 3. Lydia Davis – Revenge Lydia survived a fall from a high-rise balcony on to a vehicle below, and even a plane bombing. She must be a ninja to avoid death on those two occasions! 4. Cookie Lyon – Empire Cookie was doing too much on Empire when she tried to nurse Lucious back to good health. In a scary scene, she almost lost her life. That wasn’t the only time she almost died. 5. Dan Conner – Roseanne Dan died on the original series finale of this controversial comedy series. However, the show’s revival explained the “death” as a joke. Yikes. 6. Huck – Scandal Huck was always a complicated character with murderous tendencies. When he thought he found the woman of his dreams who understood him, the rug was pulled from under him and he was shot several times. After leaving fans in the lurch for multiple weeks, we learned that he had put in the trunk of a car and managed to escape because he imagined what his colleagues would tell him to do. Ridiculous? Yes. Tense? YES. View Slideshow
Shannon Beador has officially moved on from one of the messier divorces in recent Hollywood history . And not only that, but the Real Housewives of Orange County cast member has moved right into the arms of a very attractive new suitor. According to People Magazine, Beador is now dating a fellow California native named John Janssen. He’s a divorced father of three who graduated years ago from the University of Southern California. Janssen is 56 years old, met Beador through a mutual friend and he works as a partner at an insurance firm. “Shannon’s really happy,” a source close to the couple tells this publication , adding of her new lover: “He’s a great guy, and really adores her. And she is equally smitten. They make a great couple together and have been having a lot of fun.” Just how serious is this romance? It’s a bit too early to say for certain, but both sides have met the other’s kids — which is obviously a pretty huge deal in the world of dating and relationships. “The girls really like him,” the insider says of Shannon’s three daughters: Sophie, 18, and twins Stella and Adeline, 15. This past Tuesday, as you can see above, Shannon posed on Instagram with Janssen, sharing a smiling photo of the two during a night out in Newport Beach. It’s been quite a journey for Beador to arrive at this happy place in her personal life. Shannon and ex-husband David Beador broke up in September 2017 after over 17 years of marriage; she then filed to end their marriage in December of this same year. Accusations of infidelity were subsequently hurled back and forth by both Shannon and David, with the former admitting she gained forty pounds due to stress from the marriage and then the split. She said many times that David checked out of the relationship as soon as her body started to change. Finally, after a year and a half of ugly allegations, the reality stars settled their divorce in April — he agreed to pay her $1.4 million . They also agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their daughters. The Real Housewives of Orange County kicks off season 14 on in August 6 at 9/8c on Bravo. Beador has already said that she’s back to her original weight and focused on the return of “Fun Shannon,” to use her own words.
