As if that weren’t impressive enough, the comedian then made her way to the “SNL” afterparty . “We got through it!” White declared on her way into Doc’s Steakhouse in New York, shortly after wrapping her highly anticipated (and hilarious) hosting turn over the weekend. With assists from several female “SNL” vets, including Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Tina Fey, who came onboard as part of the evening’s Mother’s Day tribute, White led the NBC variety show to its best ratings in 18 months. But it wasn’t just fans that approved of White’s showing; castmembers were equally impressed by the “Golden Girls” actress. “She was incredible,” “SNL” alumna and guest star Ana Gasteyer gushed. “She’s still about 15 years old.” Asked to pick White’s greatest moment of the evening, “SNL” creator and producer Lorne Michaels couldn’t narrow it down: “Pretty much the whole night!” For castmember Bobby Moynihan, getting to play White’s husband in the latest Manuel Ortiz Show sketch was a personal highlight. “I was married to her,” he enthused. “I’ll take that to my grave!” “Just having her there, she’s such a legend,” returning “SNL” vet Molly Shannon chimed in. “She was phenomenal.” The night’s musical guest also had high praise for the 88-year-old actress. Jay-Z devoted his second-act song, “Young Forever,” to White . Asked if White had called the rapper “Hov” (one of his many aliases) backstage, Shannon laughed: “No, not that I saw.
