According to the Chicago Sun-Times , prosecutors described the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer as “an extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls” during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Chicago. The prosecutors also made sure to point out the extreme risk of Kelly obstructing justice. Part of the new charges he was hit with include allegations of paying off the families of accusers so they wouldn’t cooperate with the authorities . Kelly’s lawyer went with the there’s no way his client can flee because he’s broke play. “Unlike his most famous song — ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ — Mr. Kelly doesn’t like to fly,” Greenberg reportedly said. Well, the judge wasn’t having it. Kelly is currently being held in Chicago’s downtown Metropolitan Correctional Center. Right now, R. Kelly is facing 18 charges in Brooklyn and Chicago for various alleged crimes involving minors, including 10 victims. R. Kelly was acquitted of child pornography in 2008.

I n November of last year, a man named Masin Elijè made some extreme allegations against NBA star Dwight Howard . He claimed they were boyfriends, that Howard was into transgender sex parties and that Howard and his pastor conspired to kill him because he refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Elijè filed a lawsuit and Howard countersued, claiming everything Elijè, whose real name is is Maurice Singletary, was lying. Now Howard is speaking out for the first time about the rumors and his answer may surprise you. It ended up being a situation that was—it went viral. People were talking about it, and it upset me because I didn’t even know who the person was. Why would somebody who I never met, never had any contact with, make up a whole story about me? I saw all the hate, the pure hate, from people that I’ve never met before, just pile up everywhere I went.” He continued, “I think that liberated me. Because I saw how a lot of people would feel, whether they’re gay or they’re straight. Whether they have issues. People are afraid to be who they are. They’re afraid to just step out and be. Because they’re afraid of what other people might say or think about them. That situation made me realize you’re not like this, but just be you, be free.” Howard added, “I’m not gay.” But he explained the situation gave him empathy, “It’s a lot of people who are and they have to hide, and there’s people who have mental issues and they have to hide. There’s people who have different problems in life and they have to hide. Kelly was just denied bond in his Illinois child porn and sex abuse case, and things aren’t looking much better in his simultaneous federal racketeering case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has asked a judge to deny the disgraced singer bail indefinitely to ensure that he shows up for his trial in Brooklyn, according to court papers obtained by BOSSIP. In a letter to the judge, Richard P. Donoghue, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said that Kelly was a major flight risk who was too dangerous to be in public. Donoghue was especially concerned that if he made bail, he’d try to intimidate witnesses in the case. Source: E. JASON WAMBSGANS / Getty He pointed to Kelly’s 2008 state child abuse case and said the “Pied Piper” bribed his alleged victim’s family with $2 million in exchange for her not testifying against him. The prosecutor said Kelly also forced alleged victims to sign documents with false, yet damaging information and threatened to expose the info if they went public. The feds allege that for more than 20 years, Kelly was the head of a criminal enterprise that funneled young girls from around the country to him to be sexually assaulted. Besides racketeering, Kelly was indicted on charges of violating the Mann Act, kidnapping and forced labor. Kelly is expected to be arraigned on those charges in September.
