Source: Larry Busacca / Getty Fantasia ’s seventh album is complete and she decided not to record this one alone. The American Idol alum confirmed via social media that her next LP will feature tracks with R&B gems Jazmine Sullivan and Brandy . “So Thankful for you [Jazmine Sullivan] & [Brandy],” she on Instagram. “This is an independent Album and we DID IT!!!” She didn’t reveal when the album will be available, but the project will be titled Sketchbook because she sees “her life as a painting.” The post implies that this is a joint album between Fantasia, Sullivan and Brandy but since her first single “Enough” is a solo track, it’s uncertain. I wanted to kind of reach back and touch some different eras when it came to that girl group. “I was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be dope if we had a girl group where it was Jazmine, Fantasia and Brandy?’ Let’s just put it on an album.” Sketchbook will also feature tracks with T-Pain and Meghan Trainor. The world is mother nature, the world is healing female energy. there are so many negative energies that I don’t want to even associate myself with in order to inspire to live a life far away from destructiveness so that we can fully evolve and grow into our true self and be who we authentically were born to be… to live a limitless life! Source: RYAN MCBRIDE / Getty First Black Mayor Of Upper Marlboro Resigns Amidst Racist Bullying A Maryland mayor is stepping down from her position after saying she’s been the victim of racists attacks and bullying. According to NBC 4 , Mayor Tonga Turner of Upper Marlboro is resigning and residents claim it wasn’t until she made her announcement that the alarming incidents came to light. “I am writing to inform you that effective Friday, June 21, 2019, I will no longer be serving as mayor and president of the board of commissioners for the town of Upper Marlboro,” Turner wrote in a letter, which cited progress in having secured $800,000 in grants, legislation that advanced economic development and the creation of “an outreach team that is focused on diversity and inclusion.” Turner continued: “It is no secret that the Town of Upper Marlboro has been plagued with a dark history and past, but my hope is that in the past two years under my leadership, each of you has seen the great promise for our future.” Turner is Upper Marlboro’s first Black mayor, and she said the bullying began as soon as she first took office, according to people at a Monday town hall meeting. Folks say the incidents included everything from her tires being slashed to a former town commissioner sketching swastikas DURING A TOWN HALL MEETING. “She explained a lot about receiving threatening emails and being called certain words from her constituents,” Upper Marlboro resident Angel Saules explained. “Her tires have been slashed, from what I understand. And then kind of like the kicker and I think what made it be a part of the meeting is that someone who attends very regularly had been sketching swastika signs.” Another Upper Marlboro resident, Monica Wilson, took a photo after noticing a guy at Monday’s meeting drawing swastikas in a yellow legal pad. Multiple sources confirmed the man was a former town commissioner. “And I look over and see him scribbling swastikas over and over again,” Wilson said. “He flips the pages, continues to scribble additional swastikas.” Like whaaa?! “There have been some things that have happened during her year and a half as mayor that she did talk about at the town meeting last night,” town spokesman Ray Feldmann explained. “There have been some incidents that she’s had to deal with, but those were not incidents that had anything to do with her resignation.” Feldmann said that while the racism has been challenging, Turner gave up her mayoral position to spend more time with family. But he also acknowledged the mayor’s progressive views received some pushback. “She is about not accepting the status quo, shaking things up, and that has not been acceptable to a lot of people,” Feldmann said. Interestingly enough, Upper Marlboro is apart of Prince George’s County, Maryland, which is predominately Black. Of course, White folks still occupy space in Upper Marlboro’s town of 657 people, and it seems the town’s history of once being predominantly White is showing its ugly face. Smh. Who knows what else Ms. Turner had to deal with. You can check out her resignation speech for yourself below.

Source: STRINGER / Getty Police Report Deems Shooting At Willie McCoy 55 Times “Reasonable” F**k the police . First and foremost. Now that we have that out of the way. We’ve been reporting on the police shooting death of Willie McCoy since February when Vallejo, California police found him asleep in a Taco Bell drive-thru…then killed him. According to USAToday , Willie’s family is pushing back against an janky-a$$ “independent report” that the cops drummed up in an attempt to absolve themselves of any trigger-happy wrongdoing. The report released this week found that six officers fired 55 times at 20-year-old Willie McCoy in the span of 3.5 seconds shortly after he woke up from sleeping in his car in the drive-thru lane of a Taco Bell restaurant. Attorney John Burris told USA TODAY he believed the report was irrelevant, particularly since the hired expert also deemed police had probable cause in the fatal 2018 shooting of Stephon Clark. Let that sink in. The cops went and got the SAME GUY, David Blake, who said the Stephon Clark shooting was all-to-the-good. “Officers are not required to wait until a weapon is pointed at them to take the necessary steps to save their own lives,” Blake wrote in the report, adding that their actions were “reasonable based upon my training and experience as a range instructor as well as through applied human factors psychology.” This is the system that Black and brown people are up against in America. Do anything to save a cop’s a$$. SMFH.
