Taking home the win for his role as  Korey Wise in  When They See Us , Jerome delivered an emotional speech, thanking his mother, director  Ava Duvernay and of course, the Exonerated Five. “I feel like I should just be in the Bronx right now, chillin,’ waiting for my mom’s cooking but I’m here,” he said. “But I’m here in front of people I’m so motivated by.” The 24-year-old actor was considered a “lock” by many who saw the limited series on Netflix. He faced some serious competition as he stood in a category with  Mahershala Ali  ( True Detective ), Benicio Del Toro ( Escape at Dannemora ), Hugh Grant ( A Very English Scandal ), Jared Harris ( Chernobyl ) and Sam Rockwell ( Fosse/Verdon ). “Most important[ly] this is for the men known as The Exonerated Five,” he said as the men stood on their feet. “Thank you so much. Carl Ruiz, Former Food Network Star, Dead at 44

Awful news today out of the world of reality television and cooking: Carl Ruiz, a well-known chef who appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and more of Guy Fieri’s programs, has died in his sleep. He was 44 years old. The tragic news was confirmed on Sunday by social media personality Matt Farah, who was close to Ruiz and who announced that his friend passed away on Saturday night from a heart attack. “I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone,” Fieri tweeted after the news went public. He added: “I have no words to describe what a great friend he was to me and my family. His ability to make me laugh and smile under any circumstances was only outshined by his talent as a chef. “Over the years, I’ve met a lot of great people but a friend like Carl is one in a hundred million. Carl ’The Cuban’ Ruiz will forever live on in my heart and in those of all who loved him.” Ruiz’s family restaurant — Marie’s Italian Specialties in Chatham Township, New Jersey — was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives twice over the past few years. Carl was later hired to appear on Fieri’s shows Guy’s Grocery Games and Guy’s Ranch Kitchen. The two chefs became very close as a result. In June, Ruiz opened the restaurant La Cubana in New York City, from whose Instagram account there was posted a tribute earlier today. “On behalf of the La Cubana family, with heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved Executive Chef Carl Ruiz,” the post read. It continued as follows: “No words can fully express our sadness at the sudden loss of our dear friend and brother. “Beyond his immense culinary talent, Carl’s larger-than-life personality never failed to entertain, enlighten, and uplift every person he encountered along his #Ruizing adventures. His fierce intellect and infectious humor knew no bounds. “He was a mighty force of down home Cuban cuisine, and lived life to the fullest, just as he cooked—with ‘dancing always’ as the most important ingredient.” This is how that in memoriam message concluded: Here at La Cubana, Carl paid proud tribute to his Cuban roots each night, and it is here that Carl’s legacy, undeniable spirit and passion for his culture will live on. We hope we make you proud, Carlito. To honor the work you loved so much Chef, La Cubana will continue your work in establishing The Carl Ruiz Scholarship Foundation for aspiring chefs. We love you! You are already missed. Rest easy. And here is how Guys Grocery Games and Guy’s Ranch Kitchen star Eric Greenspan saluted his late pal: “RIP Carl Ruiz,” Eric Greenspan wrote on Instagram, adding: “You hear it a lot, but never could it be more true. The world is significantly worse without you. Heaven doesnt know what just hit it.” Fellow Food Network star Alex Guarnaschelli tweeted: “This man was somehow fatherly, comforting, wise, reckless, brilliant, wickedly funny & unique all in 1. My life will be lonelier without him. Love you Carl. “I’ll make sure no one puts pineapple on pizza best I can without you here. #rip @carlruiz.” “Remember how Carl would sometimes say, ‘That’s it I’m leaving Twitter forever’? Then he would be back on 2 hours later with an update: a hotdog from somewhere special & a cackle of glee?” she added. “Carl was a great cook & shared every moment of his life with us & I already miss it. #rip” May he rest in peace. Emmy Awards Fashion: Who Really Wore It Worst?

The Emmy Awards are meant to recognize the very best in television. But let's be honest: This is now a silly exercise because there's simply too much television for one awards show to properly cover. And it's also silly because no one really cares who wins Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, do they? We care about all those fashion choices on the red carpet?  Who wore it best? Who wore it worst? And who barely wore anything at all? Scroll down to find out! 1. Jenny McCarthy 2. Justin Hartley 3. Renee Bargh 4. Sharon Osbourne 5. Erin Lim 6. Dascha Polanco View Slideshow

Mom Who Provides Free Lunches For Kids In Her Local Community Raises Over $65K For Her Initiative

W hen it comes to supporting the youth, it takes a village. After the story of a St. Louis woman who makes 100 lunches for children in her local community every day made headlines, several donors have stepped up to contribute to her initiative, St. Louis Public Radio reported. For five years, Champale Anderson has used her own money to make free snack bags for kids in her St. Louis neighborhood who would otherwise go hungry. She started a GoFundMe with a goal of $1,500. It's raised more than $60,000. (via @stlpublicradio ) https://t.co/jIHeHeR1wx — NPR (@NPR) September 19, 2019 Champale Anderson —a mother of six—has been providing youngsters in her neighborhood with breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the past five years. After noticing that many of the children in her community were living in poverty and would often go without food, the health care provider decided to take action and launch a project designed to combat hunger. Through her Champ’s Teardrops initiative, she provides students with nutritious bagged lunches and snacks. She has an open-door policy where kids in the community can stop by her home to pick up food. “I noticed the kids they are always hungry. They get off the bus and they take off running and they never know what I will have in the bag. I switch up and have special treats for my special babies,” she told Fox 2 News . “It makes me proud. My goal is to go to different neighborhoods and give out bags.” Since launching a GoFundMe page for her project, Anderson has gone far beyond her $1,500 goal and raised over $65,000. She plans on using the funds to grow her project and continue to make an impact in the lives of children in her community and beyond. Initiatives like Champ’s Tearsdrops are needed as childhood hunger remains an issue in the U.S. According to the nonprofit No Kid Hungry , more than 12 million children in America live in food-insecure households. Further research revealed that 17.9 percent of children under the age of 18 live in homes where there are scarce amounts of food or there is a lack of safe and nutritious food options. Miley Cyrus Splits from Kaitlynn Carter, Crushes Wet Dreams of All Male Teenagers

You know what they say about Miley Cyrus, right? She can’t be tamed. Not even, it turns out, by a beauty such as Kaitlynn Carter. Multiple outlets have confirmed that the singer and Carter have gone their separate ways, just about a week after we heard they had moved in together and just about a month after they shocked the world by hooking up in the first place. “Miley and Kaitlyn broke up,” says a source very simply to People Magazine, making sure to add: “They’re still friends.” The couple, both halves of whom are female, were just spotted holding hands in Los Angeles last week, prompting many to wonder where things went wrong. But we have no answer at the moment. “They’ve been friends forever and were there for each other when they were both getting separated,” the People insider continued. “But they’re just not in a romantic relationship anymore.” Ah yes, when both were getting separated… Carter’s marriage to Brody Jenner ended early this summer, with Miley then calling off her union to Liam Hemsworth several weeks later. Before Miley’s official statement on the separation even went viral, numerous websites shared photos of Cyrus and Carter kissing in Italy. Did she actually cheat on Hemsworth ? A handful of insiders swore the relationship was over long before the spit-swapping with Carter, while Miley herself slammed infidelity rumors in an emotional Instagram post in late August. “I have nothing to hide,” she wrote at the time. “I can admit to a lot of  things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating… I love Liam and always will.” Concluded Miley in this August 22 message: You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking, foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar. I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was younger. Check out the full statement here: Cyrus may not have cheated (we believe her), but she definitely took to Carter. The two were seen out and about, getting VERY cozy with each other , on multiple occasions. Alas, it now appears to have simply been a fling and both sides will move on with their lives, no hard feelings left behind. As a reminder, this is what Miley and Liam said upon confirming their separation: Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy. Audrey Roloff Tugs at Every Single Heartstring in Wedding Anniversary Post

The weather may be turning cold across various parts of the country, but it remains wedding season for at least one very famous family. First, as previously detailed, Amy Roloff announced that she is engaged to long-time boyfriend Chris Marek. We’re so very, very happy for these two. Now, Audrey and Jeremy Roloff are here to gush over each other almost like never before, as the former TLC personalities are here to celebrate their five-year wedding anniversary. “We celebrate today like it’s a national holiday every year,” Audrey wrote on Saturday to open the lengthy caption that accompanies the throwback photo above. “Because we believe anniversaries are important and worth celebrating big. Happy 5 year anniversary,” she added. Audrey and Jeremy have something else to celebrate at the moment, of course, as they’re expecting a baby boy in January. They have something to mourn, the loss of a close friend . Addressing her husband, however, Audrey focused on the positive in this post. “I love growing with you, working with you, playing with you, learning with you, dreaming with you, adventuring with you, and I love loving you,” she wrote, adding: “I’m so honored to live this life alongside you. I’m inspired by who you are and who you are becoming and so grateful that you’re my best friend. “Thank you for cherishing and challenging me and loving me so patiently, creatively, intentionally and faithfully. “I love you more and more each year Jeremy. “‘If it’s half as good as the half we’ve known, here’s hail to the rest of the road.’” Toward the end of June, both Audrey and Jeremy acknowledged some relationship challenges. We even wondered if the stars might actually get divorced . But they’ve clearly pushed through and overcome and here they are now, seemingly as strong and as happy as ever. “This post is in honor of our five year wedding anniversary. Amidst the wild seas we were able to steal away for a night to celebrate, reflect, and rest,” wrote Jeremy this weekend as a caption to the image below. “If you told me on our wedding day 5 years ago we’d do all we’ve done these last 5 years I’da laughed,” he continued. Concluded Jeremy, melting the heart of all followers in the process: But as the saying goes, people dramatically over estimate what they can do in one year and dramatically underestimate what they can do in five. And what a ride it’s been these last 5 years. I’m looking forward to the next five. “If the next half is half as good as the half we’ve known, here‘s Hail! To the rest of the road.” There’s no one else I’d rather have at the helm of life with me than you – happy 5 years Audrey. Audrey and Jeremy left Little People, Big World in the summer of 2018. They have gone on to host their own podcast and release their own relationship/love/advice memoir. We look forward to seeing what their next five years as a couple brings! Amy Roloff: EEEK! Look at My Engagement Ring!

Amy Roloff no longer needs to contain her excitement. The secret is out. The celebration can begin! And so can the beautiful ring flaunting… On Friday evening, hours after Amy and Chris Marek confirmed their engagement , the Little People, Big World posted her own announcement on Instagram — along with a brand new photo. Of her smiling face. And her gorgeous, shiny piece of bling. :Guess what! I wanted to share with you- I’m engaged!” wrote a very excited Amy, adding on her official account: “I was so surprised when Chris asked me to marry him. I said YES. I couldn’t be happier and so looking forward to this new part of our life journey together. “I’m blessed. Love you Chris. I love us.” Amy and Chris have been dating for nearly three years. The long-time reality star was previously married to Matt Roloff, with whom she still works and often interacts, for about 27 years welcoming four amazing kids into the world together. Said Amy to People Magazine prior to sharing the huge engagement news on social media herself: I’m excited, I’m so surprised, I’m thrilled! I never in a million years thought I’d be getting married again, but I also hoped for it! Now that it’s happening, I couldn’t be happier or more excited. Amy turned 55 on September 17 and Chris proposed a day later, as a belated and very special birthday gift. Rarely one to speak to the media, he also got a few words in with People, telling the publication yesterday: “I was very nervous! It had to be a heart shaped diamond because I knew that’s what Amy wanted.” There had been speculation for months about these two getting engaged, partly because they have been together for so long and partly because they just seem so happy together. Rarely do a few days go by without Amy posting some image online of her and Marek smiling up a storm together. Just about a month ago, we heard rumors of Roloff pushing Marek to propose , but it doesn’t sound like there was any real pressure placed on him here. He simply found the woman of his dreams and figured it was about time to pop the question. This news merely adds to what ought to be a VERY exciting next several months for this famous family: Tori Roloff is expecting a girl in November. Audrey Roloff is expecting a boy in January. And now a wedding will take place at some point in the near future as well. No public word yet from any other Roloff on this engagement, but allow us to jump in and simply say  the following: CONGRATULATIONS!
